I cannot find any articles on the content restrictions for developing on Andriod. Are there any? My client wants to make an app that contains 'strong adult language' for sexual position as well as potentially adult imagery.

I have hidden the browser icon, but that's not going to work very long. He's not very computer/tech savvy, but his friends will show him. His iPod Touch has restriction settings, so wondering if Android has anything like it. I've searched this forum and the net and haven't found anything.
View 4 Replies View RelatedCurrently porting an iPhone application to Android. I've encountered an issue that I haven't been able to overcome. On the iPhone, translating your text is trivial. Put all your strings/text in Localizable.strings in the format: "sentence to translate" = "sentence translated" The original string can contain any characters of any type. So, what are the restrictions in the name of a resource on Android. Or is there a way to circumvent it and easily replace one string with another. I'd like to keep the original dictionary of text I was using on the iPhone to keep things simple and not introduce any unnecessary errors.

1) EMAIL no empty the trash? I have over 1000 emails in the trash and I cant empty them.
2) EMAIL You can EASILY open an email trying to check it.
3) EMAIL No way to create filters to separate emails and create JUNK filters.
4) EMAIL You can easily open an email trying to scroll. Seems like we need a safe area on the left or right so we can scroll without opening the email.
5) Text Messaging. You cant copy a sent message or a portion of it? This doesn't seem possible and is very irritating. I cant forward a message either.
6) Text Messaging something read a text message for me? Like a text to voice reader? This can help with all the driving rules.
7) Text Messaging An automatic reply that can be turned off or on to inform users you are on the road.
8) Video Player. I like to play movies but have often noticed audio drift on several
videos. SO the video player needs a way to delay or advance audio to match the video like VLC has.
9) Video Player ZOOM I need custom zoom sizes so I can play video and resize them to FIT the video window irrespective of the aspect ratio. The screen it too small to care.
I want to digitize my video at 320x480 and zoom it up why not so I can get more video on my phone.
10) WEB Browser Last complaint for today.. FLASH WHERE THE $^$%#& is the FLASH support that was promised by Adobe?
11) WEB Browser Shouldn't you be able to copy text from a web page to use in a search?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried numerous launchers and have found it difficult to find any launchers that allow you to go above 72x72 resolution for icons. The only one that would was Go Launcher EX and that simply scaled them up to a barely noticeable 82x82.
Is there a launcher which allows you to load icons that are say 100x100 and that does not scale them?

unzip the two files to the root of your SD card. this worked on my storm (notice my Storm's internal drive still has a 9550 as an icon in the image). so i assume it will work on the incredible.
Does the 4.4 update remove the carriers restrictions on the Google wallet? Specifically can you use the nfc payment. I read that the carriers restricted the nfc payment feature on Google wallet for "supposed security reasons" and that the 4.4 update is supposed to fix this.

I was wondering if it was possible to pro-grammatically change the Content Provider used when making a query given a Content URI. The reason being I need to know if it's possible to force the Calendar/Contacts applications to read from a different database via a different Content Provider temporarily while my application is running, so that I can reuse those applications to display my own data. Since the Content URI s are hard coded in each of these applications the only way it might be possible is if we could somehow temporarily change the Content Provider used for a given URI. I know this probably isn't possible, I just need to show it isn't. Could someone confirm this can't be done?

When I touch "download" it appears that the attachment is downloading, but then I get the cursed red X! I have contacted Motorola tech support. Interestingly, the attachments came in fine on my Thunderbolt, but have never shown up on my RAZR..
View 2 Replies View RelatedI own a Droid Razr M (8 GB) and I am running a stock build(9.8.1Q-78-1), and yesterday I reset my phone to factory defaults because I filled up it's disk space, then, I re-rooted it, it worked fine, but now, today I am missing EVERY SINGLE stock app, I tried resetting it to factory defaults again, and it still was missing them all, I then used a device explorer, and my "system/app" folder is like completely empty, (DROID RAZR M Running JB 4.1.2 as stated in the title)
If it makes a difference, it is a Verizon, it was 100% stock still, I had not installed anything yet after I rooted it, and the root was 100% successful because I did it the same way I did before.
All I need is, Camera, Galary, and Calendar now.
I am having a hard time understanding content providers. In the notepad example and others, the content provider never even declares its CONTENT_URI anywhere inside itself, yet the docs say to publicly declare this. It's declared in a different class. So when an activity queries a content provider with a CONTENT_URI, how does Android know which one I want. I see no link between a content provider and its CONTENT_URI declared in another class.
I also don't how to think about intents and content providers. I know that you don't call an intent on a content provider. But an activity queries a content provider without an intent, and an activity has a mimetype attribute in the manifest that would seem to tie it to a content provider.
how can i create a custom content provider like contact content provider? i know how to create custom content providers but i want to integarte to device such a way that it canbe accessed by all application installed in that device.
