Android :: How To Suppress BT Logging In Android Logcat

Jul 14, 2010

I am trying to suppress logging output from BT since it spams my debug session.

The log looks like this:

And I am using this command line to watch logcat:

And yet it still persists to log. I think the problem is that the component is actually BT HS/HF but I am not able to quote it appropriately.

I can use this command:

But that feels like a hack - besides, I might miss buffered output through the pipe.

General :: Seeing Wrong Time On Android 4.3 Intermittently On Nexus 4?

Aug 3, 2013

Since updating to 4.3 both my and my girlfriend's Nexus 4 clock keeps jumping back 8 hours. Then corrects itself. Then goes wrong again, a few times per hour.

We bought the phones in the UK where there is an 8 hour time difference.

When we look at clock it says UK time is actually Los Angeles and Los Angeles is UK. It swaps them, which makes no sense.

Turning auto time zone off makes no difference, it's getting it from AT&T directly.

Android :: Facebook Event Displays Wrong Time In Calendar Widget

Aug 17, 2010

I have a facebook event in my device's calendar that is displaying the correct time on the main calendar, but showing the incorrect event time in two different calendar widgets I've tried, as well as the event list in the Facebook app.

To make matters more complicated, the facebook app is displaying a different incorrect time than the widgets.

I've removed the facebook event from my calendar, reinstalled the widgets, done a battery pull, resynced, and the problem persists.

I think the host changed the time of the event after I first synced it to my phone, but I'm not sure.

HTC Desire :: Wrong Time Displayed?

Sep 6, 2010

I have a problem with the displayed times shown on the home screen. The one displayed in the widget with the weather is displaying the correct time but the one in the top right corner is showing as being 1 hour behind. I have tried using manual and auto settings for the time but all this does is change the time in the widget.

Probably something really simple but cannot figure out how to get them displaying the same.

General :: Migrated Photos Have Time / Date Stamp All Wrong?

May 13, 2014

I just got a Nexus 5 and spent the whole of the afternoon trying to migrate my photos and videos from my GNex to the 5. I managed to move everything over, but here is where things went wrong

The metadata displays the time of the file transfer, instead of the original time/date the photo was taken. I'm OCD and a stickler for getting my files in order, so having all my pics/vids in the Gallery app display in the wrong order is really bugging me.

Initially I used My Backup Pro to move the files over, then deleted everything and transferred them from GNex -> Macbook -> Nexus 5 via Android File Transfer. Files were transferred fine, but the time/date stamp is still wrong.

Samsung Captivate :: Timestamps On Text Messages Are Wrong / Battery Has Standby Time?

Jul 18, 2010

First time poster and long time reader. First off I got the Captivate today and love it. I had the Aria and took it back and got this today. I just have a couple of questions. I will list them so it doesn't get confusing.

1. I saw in a few reviews that the battery has standby time of over a month and is generally very good and is a big part of why I bought the phone. That being said, since a full charge at 2:00pm, I am currently (9:00pm) in the yellow on my battery with normal use (ie minimal web browsing, 4 phone calls all under 2 minutes, about 10 total texts and 3 downloaded apps, and just browsing the phones features all while having a task manager). Should I just charge it after a few days and see where I am at?

2. My house usually gives me a pretty good signal but for some reason, I only have 1-2 bars in most of the areas. However, I seem to still be able to do things such as make phone calls with no bars. As for the "death grip", I also have held the phone with a case on it and the signal diminished very quickly which concerns me. A steady 2-3 bars I would be fine with, but 1 bar is unacceptable.

3. Timestamps on text messages are wrong just like they were on the Aria. It is a minor thing but it bugs the hell out of me.

Overall the phone is awesome but I buy a phone for two reasons, number one it has to be a good phone (call quality and reception) and number two it must have an above average battery (7 hours with minimal usage concerns me). I hope I am just overreacting but these are issues I think should be talked about.

Android :: No Commons Logging In?

Jun 17, 2010

I have a pretty big library I developed specifically for use in my Android Application. However business logic itself has no dependency on Android. To preserve that, I used Commons Logging throughout this library and it's respective JUnit tests (which I run in Eclipse).

However now that I am starting to integrate it into an Activity which I launch on Android, I am unable to get my logging to work. In Eclipse/JUnit, I had simply pulled in log4j's jar file as well as a file. This doesn't seem to work when deploying to a device. After struggling with attempting to get that to work for several hours, I gave up and tried replacing all my commons logging stuff with android.util.Log. Now I can log on the device.. but all JUnit tests are broken. When any JUnit tries to log using android.util.Log, it throws a RuntimeException 'Stub!'.

I would prefer to revert to my commons logging approach.. if anyone can help with that.. otherwise.. what can I do to get my JUnit test cases running using 'android.util.Log'?

Android :: Logging On To SSH Server For Internet Access

Sep 20, 2010

At my campus, to get internet connection, I need to log on to a SSH server like they must manually log in to the firewall server, by establishing a pseudo-tty-less ssh connection to it. The following command can be used on most systems: ssh -T -l [username] [server-URL]I must be logged on to the server for as long as I want internet.Does anyone have any idea how to accomplish this on Android?I have a little experience in writing basic apps for Android, but not much with SSH, any help is appreciated.

Tried ConnectBot, but the server replies "You may only connect without a pseudo-tty!" at login attempt. I have no idea what "pseudo-tty" is, and I have looked in the settings of ConnectBot, there is no mention of this.

Searched for any further info about the pseudo-tty-less function, in connection with OpenSSH. No luck so far, only a definition of the -T parameter which has no equivalent in ConnectBot.

Android :: Console Logging Missing On Eclipse

May 29, 2009

I'm running Eclipse Ganymede on Ubuntu 8.04 and suddenly with no configuration changes as of yesterday am missing logging on the Console Window. I see startup logging when I launch an app but once launched there are no more lines of information. The buttons for Verbose etc are also missing. Log.v messages are not showing. Anyone else seeing this? I'm wondering if one of Ubuntu's updates screwed things up? I may try reinstalling the plug-in or even Eclipse but thought I would check here first.
