i just got a new galaxy s yesterday so far i've found it really useful.but today i realized that when i get text messages, the received time is almost 4 hour behind.when i send a text, it shows the right time but only when i receive it

I received 2 txts- one from each of my kids and the receive time was like 6 hrs into the future of the actual time. not a big deal but then the next texts i received were all fine?

I opened my 'Messages' inbox by clicking the Messages icon. At the top of the screen it showed that the message was from my mate Doug, not my brother. View 4 Replies View RelatedPrior to installing the external card - the folders app showed /sd. Which I assumed was the internal one. Then I insert the external one, reboot the phone, and tehre is no additional directory in the folder view. Why is this? Secondly, its a 16GB card. Its reported as 14.58GB. The format option is greyed out. Is it automatically mounted at power on? Ideally I want to know where I install things to know that they are on the external card.
View 15 Replies View RelatedFirst time poster and long time reader. First off I got the Captivate today and love it. I had the Aria and took it back and got this today. I just have a couple of questions. I will list them so it doesn't get confusing.
1. I saw in a few reviews that the battery has standby time of over a month and is generally very good and is a big part of why I bought the phone. That being said, since a full charge at 2:00pm, I am currently (9:00pm) in the yellow on my battery with normal use (ie minimal web browsing, 4 phone calls all under 2 minutes, about 10 total texts and 3 downloaded apps, and just browsing the phones features all while having a task manager). Should I just charge it after a few days and see where I am at?
2. My house usually gives me a pretty good signal but for some reason, I only have 1-2 bars in most of the areas. However, I seem to still be able to do things such as make phone calls with no bars. As for the "death grip", I also have held the phone with a case on it and the signal diminished very quickly which concerns me. A steady 2-3 bars I would be fine with, but 1 bar is unacceptable.
3. Timestamps on text messages are wrong just like they were on the Aria. It is a minor thing but it bugs the hell out of me.
Overall the phone is awesome but I buy a phone for two reasons, number one it has to be a good phone (call quality and reception) and number two it must have an above average battery (7 hours with minimal usage concerns me). I hope I am just overreacting but these are issues I think should be talked about.
I have a samsung galaxy s on T-Mobile in the UK. (Contract). I read somewhere that the update is only for Pay-As-You-Go and not contract phones? Is this true? Also, Will this fix the "Text being sent to wrong person bug"?

View 10 Replies View RelatedMy clock widgets have all shown the correct time and place since I received my Hero. On Saturday, all of a sudden the clock is off by 5 hours but showing the correct location. I restarted my phone and the correct time would show up, but as soon as the phone sleeps and I wake it up, the clock is off by 5 hours again!!! I checked the settings for the clock and it is set to the network time and gps for current location. I had to download a clock widget off the market because I could not figure it out. Anyone?

The last time I used this feature was about a month ago.Logging into my Sprint account, it appears Sprint has updated their website to include something called ZipText.This is new to me but may not actually be new. It appears to be set up to forward any texts it receives by default and the messages I expected to see did not appear there. In fact no texts appeared there.So is anyone experiencing problems receiving texts? I have tried powering down and up my phone.I have successfully sent 2 texts to different people but I do not receive their replies or new messages.I cannot see a setting that would cause this.I have gone into the "Messaging" application to send texts.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I send latitude/longitude points to the Emulator (using DDMS with GPX file or using "geo fix" from command line) the locations received by Apps on the Emulator are slightly off. So like I send a latitude of 41.74 and onLocationChanged recevies a Location, and I to toString() on it and get a longitude of : 41.74016776666667 Tested with my own app and then with Google Maps on the Emulator to double check. So its not an app issue.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo, after having to live with GPS that's at best flaky and at worst non-existent for the last three months I've now found something else related Samsung has managed to screw up. All the photos my phone has taken are geotagged with 0 lat, 0 lon. So, somewhere off the west coast of Africa. Other handsets I've used have tagged with the inexact location (i.e. cell tower fix) when an accurate location isn't available.
I would expect either this or no tag at all. Maybe while I'm stripping off the tags this evening I'll put in an order for a Desire HD. Thanks Samsung, I'm just about annoyed enough now to no longer care what fixes or updates you may choose to grace us with at some unspecified point in the future. Ok, that rant may have been a bit over the top but I do feel a little better now!
So my girlfriend is having an issue with her phone. I don't see it being an issue with mine but it might be something else. She is receiving non-alpha numeric characters in her text messages. So far shes gotten it from me and one of her other friends not knowing what to say she called it "caligraphy". Anyways, I am on Metro and her friend is on Verizon. I'd figure its a CDMA issue but she is on a Samsung Moment on Sprint which is also CDMA so idunno.
To me they send fine, but to her some of the texts she receives come in all garbled. Not sure whats going on, anyone got any ideas? Her phone is unrooted, stock, and like a week and a half ago had a factory reset done. Its 2.1 android. In this screenshot I asked her to forward me the "jibberish." She had tried to do it several times earlier but i never got the messages, this time i got it so heres a screenie for you all.
I have been having a bunch of issues with the messaging app, and was wondering if it was just me. I keep having this issue when I will select a text conversation to open, and it will open another thread. I have made sure I am selecting the right conversation, it just likes opening another one. Also sometimes when I use the puzzle piece unlock method to go straight to the new text, it just opens the homescreen, or opens to the list of text conversations when it is supposed to open the specific thread. I am rooted, with LauncherPro running, but I had the same issues when running full TW.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Android application that allows the user to select a photo that has already been taken. Once the user selects a photo, I grab the URI information for that photo, use that information to create a bitmap, and then I set the bitmap in an ImageView. This all works perfectly fine.I then give the user the option to select the picture for viewing. When the user chooses to view the picture, I launch an ACTION_VIEW intent, passing the URI data. Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, pictureUri);startActivity(intent);As you can see, this is very simple code, nothing special going on. The problem is that, when I run this code on my Droid running Android 2.1, about 6 or 7 times out of 10, the application will display the correct picture. But the other 3 or 4 times, I get shown the wrong picture. Also, each time the wrong picture is shown, its always the same incorrect picture being shown. The fact that I see the right picture the majority of the time leads me to believe everything I'm doing in code is fine, so can anyone tell me if you have seen this problem before, and better yet, is there a solution? Here is the exact sequence that I observe on my Droid when I run this (Note: Image URI is already saved before I start the Activity):
- I choose "View Photo" in the Activity
- When things work, I get taken to the gallery and shown image 74
- Each time things do not work, I get shown image 82
Keep in mind that when I start the Activity with the URI already saved (retrieved from database), I set an ImageView based on the URI data in onCreate(), and the Image being shown in the ImageView is ALWAYS the correct image. It's not until I actually decide to view the image using ACTION_VIEW that I see odd behavior. And I know it's not something specific about these 2 photos. I observed this behavior using other photos in the past, and got the same behavior.
Until today, my gmail was working great (I use the gmail app). Then today, it just stopped working. I was surprised that I didn't receive any emails today, then I checked my computer and saw that I had several. So I hit refresh on my phone a they popped up in my inbox. I sent a test email after that and didn't receive it until I hit refresh. Can someone guide me through getting it working again?

Basicly when the phone goes to sleep it loses the GPS location and reverts back to Manhattan, KS for some reason. So when you pull each other up on latitude it always shows us in Manhattan.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy phone is having a weird problem. Yesterday morning, the time on my phone was off by 7 hours. I figured it was a glitch so I restarted my phone. When I booted it up it still showed the wrong time. I went to the clock and it says my current location is in Workingham(which I've never heard of), but I'm actually in Baton Rouge. My weather widget shows Baton Rouge as my location but my clock things im in Workingham. For the time being I've got my clock set manually. It's weird because Google Maps shows my location as Baton Rouge, I even used my GPS yesterday for Navigation with no problems.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn Android 2.1, when I am opening Calendar application, going to Agenda view and from their if I go to Day schedule, that date is shown as "Thursday 01-Jan-1970" in title bar. It is not picking system date.
This is same case for week and Month view. In week schedule it is showing "December 1969 - January 1970" and for Month it display "January 1970" at Calendar title bar. This is happening when I go to day/month/week schedule from Agenda page.
I am not seeing any error in logcat message when wrong date is displayed.

I'm writing an android app, and in it I want to have a sort of title bar, with the name of the game, the score, and things like that. Then below that I want to have an grid of image views, which will kind of be like tiles on which I can display different characters in my game.

Just got the Incredible and the weather widget keeps showing the location of where i am at as "2." Does anyone know how to get this to show the actual town that I am in and not the number "2"?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe weather widget on my Incredible shows my location correctly, but the actual temperature reading is usually somewhat off of the temp from the weather channel widget (right now it is 7 degrees less). Does anyone know where HTC gets its info from? I like having the temperature displayed under the clock, but not if it is inaccurate. I also compared the HTC temp to a reading off of a wireless window thermometer and it did not agree.
