General :: Seeing Wrong Time On Android 4.3 Intermittently On Nexus 4?

Aug 3, 2013

Since updating to 4.3 both my and my girlfriend's Nexus 4 clock keeps jumping back 8 hours. Then corrects itself. Then goes wrong again, a few times per hour.

We bought the phones in the UK where there is an 8 hour time difference.

When we look at clock it says UK time is actually Los Angeles and Los Angeles is UK. It swaps them, which makes no sense.

Turning auto time zone off makes no difference, it's getting it from AT&T directly.

General :: Migrated Photos Have Time / Date Stamp All Wrong?

May 13, 2014

I just got a Nexus 5 and spent the whole of the afternoon trying to migrate my photos and videos from my GNex to the 5. I managed to move everything over, but here is where things went wrong

The metadata displays the time of the file transfer, instead of the original time/date the photo was taken. I'm OCD and a stickler for getting my files in order, so having all my pics/vids in the Gallery app display in the wrong order is really bugging me.

Initially I used My Backup Pro to move the files over, then deleted everything and transferred them from GNex -> Macbook -> Nexus 5 via Android File Transfer. Files were transferred fine, but the time/date stamp is still wrong.

General :: Factory Reset On Nexus 4 Gone Completely Wrong

Dec 13, 2013

So a while back, I used adb to put android 4.4 kitkat onto my Nexus 4 (unrooted) for the first time. Normally I would wait for OTA updates but not in this case. So, when I did that the google play store wasn't working. I was annoyed, and went to loads of forums and every time I posted a thread I would get no response. Google customer support's only advice was to factory reset. So I waited a few weeks until recently when the 4.4.2 update came out, so I tried installing it and there was an error. After even more posting to forums, and still no responses (strangely they were all active forums) I just now had to do a factory reset. However, I can't sign into google (it says that there was a problem communicating with Google servers and to try again later, and when I press next the message repeats infinitely until I press the home button.) and also my google play services are apparently incompatible with my device?

Android :: Can't Debug With Nexus One / What I Might Do Wrong?

May 22, 2010

I have a HTC Hero and newly also a Nexus One. I used to debug with the HTC Hero which worked just fine. Now when I try to debug with my Nexus One I just can't make it work. I updated everything Android via Eclipse and have now the version which officially supports Nexus One as a debug device. Whenever I connect the Nexus One, turn on Debug Mode and want to run the application I don't see the device in the debug list.

Anyone got any ideas what I might do wrong? As said above, with the HTC Hero it works just fine.

Android :: Facebook Event Displays Wrong Time In Calendar Widget

Aug 17, 2010

I have a facebook event in my device's calendar that is displaying the correct time on the main calendar, but showing the incorrect event time in two different calendar widgets I've tried, as well as the event list in the Facebook app.

To make matters more complicated, the facebook app is displaying a different incorrect time than the widgets.

I've removed the facebook event from my calendar, reinstalled the widgets, done a battery pull, resynced, and the problem persists.

I think the host changed the time of the event after I first synced it to my phone, but I'm not sure.

I have a problem with the displayed times shown on the home screen. The one displayed in the widget with the weather is displaying the correct time but the one in the top right corner is showing as being 1 hour behind. I have tried using manual and auto settings for the time but all this does is change the time in the widget.

Probably something really simple but cannot figure out how to get them displaying the same.

Samsung Captivate :: Timestamps On Text Messages Are Wrong / Battery Has Standby Time?

Jul 18, 2010

First time poster and long time reader. First off I got the Captivate today and love it. I had the Aria and took it back and got this today. I just have a couple of questions. I will list them so it doesn't get confusing.

1. I saw in a few reviews that the battery has standby time of over a month and is generally very good and is a big part of why I bought the phone. That being said, since a full charge at 2:00pm, I am currently (9:00pm) in the yellow on my battery with normal use (ie minimal web browsing, 4 phone calls all under 2 minutes, about 10 total texts and 3 downloaded apps, and just browsing the phones features all while having a task manager). Should I just charge it after a few days and see where I am at?

2. My house usually gives me a pretty good signal but for some reason, I only have 1-2 bars in most of the areas. However, I seem to still be able to do things such as make phone calls with no bars. As for the "death grip", I also have held the phone with a case on it and the signal diminished very quickly which concerns me. A steady 2-3 bars I would be fine with, but 1 bar is unacceptable.

3. Timestamps on text messages are wrong just like they were on the Aria. It is a minor thing but it bugs the hell out of me.

Overall the phone is awesome but I buy a phone for two reasons, number one it has to be a good phone (call quality and reception) and number two it must have an above average battery (7 hours with minimal usage concerns me). I hope I am just overreacting but these are issues I think should be talked about.

General :: HTC ONE X - Won't Wake Up Intermittently

May 16, 2013

just joined up and looking for an answer to an issue I'm currently experiencing with my HTC ONE X. Phone has been fine, now suddenly the phone will not wake up. Everything works fine when initially turned on- can put it to sleep, wake it up with no problems (so the button is working fine) but if I leave the phone for 5-10 mins then try to wake it up I get nothing. So currently am having to constantly have it so the screen never goes off which is hardly ideal (especially on this phone considering the battery isn't the best to start with...!)

Phone is not rooted and on Vodafone UK. Running 4.1.1
