HTC EVO 4G :: Can't Find A Way To Make LP My Default Launcher
Sep 9, 2010I don't know if this is the right forum for my questions, but I'm sure this will be appropriately moved if it's not. I rooted my EVO and flashed a ROM that has Launcher Pro installed. While I was playing with the phone I chose for the default launcher to be used. I'd like to change that now and can't find a way to make LP my default launcher.
Second, I'm not 100% sure about this, but I believe that most or all of the Sense widgets cannot be used while LP is being used. If that's the case, are there alternatives to the bookmarks widget and the Friend Stream widget?
And lastly, can anyone confirm that the EVO has LED colors other than red/orange and green? Those are the only two I've seen.

Jul 20, 2010I've been using LP for about a week (it's great BTW!) and this just started to happen so it could have something to do with the latest update. I've set LP at the default launcher and everything works great. However, if I ever long press the "home" button, go to an application, then press "home" again I get the popup asking me which launcher I want to use. I check the "set as default" box then select LP and everything is good again. It all works until I long press home the next time, then the remembered default is gone and I get the prompt again. I've tried rebooting, clearing defaults, etc.

Oct 28, 2011First of all I have a Sprint Epic Touch 4G AKA Samsung Galaxy 2 S and not rooted,
I keep getting prompt to select which launcher(launcher or twlauncher) when I press the home button. I would select set as default and then select twlauncher. This would work fine and I could do what I want and the home button acts normally. BUT if I long press the home button to bring up task manager and a list of recent apps, it would break the default setting on twlauncher. I could go to setting and manage app and see that the default on twlauncher is now cleared even though I did not manually clear it. I tried checking set as default and then select launcher. It too won't stick AFTER I long press the home button.
Long story short, I downloaded several launchers from the market and none of them will stay set as default IF I long press the home button. It breaks the default every time and ask me to select the launcher to use when I press the home button. Now this would be great if I could just delete all the other launcher and have only one but I can't delete the stock launcher or twlauncher.
So the first time this happen, I was driving down the road using telenav when I see the prompt to select which launcher(something that I've never seen after using the phone for 2 weeks).
1. Start task manager and kill all active app and clear memory from RAM
2. Clear defaults from manage application....twlauncher
3. Click home button, click set as default and then launcher instead of twlauncher- still does not stick after long press home button.
4. Manage application...twlauncher CLEAR DATA (sure enough my neatly organized homepage and apps folder was reset to stock).
5. Pull battery
6. Cycle power on and off.
7. Gave up after 24 hours and factory reset the phone.
8. Went on my merry way and reinstall apps and customizing home page and apps pages and so on.
9. In hindsight, I should have long press home button every time I installed a new app to see which one will break the default.
10. Phone works fine for 24 hours and then it mysteriously acts up again. It ask me to choose which launcher again.
11. Went back to googling and tried the following which did not work:
a. clear media hub data and default
b. installed Sprint "clean" ID and then later deleting it.
c. installed go launcher and see if it will stick
d. installed launcher pro
e. installed home switcher
f. I don't have Qik or some child lock apps
g. search XDA and found about 15 threads and tried everything in those thread short of using Titanium to freeze one launcher.
Right now I just won't long press the home button to bring up task manager or recent apps and everything will work just fine. Minor annoyance but I guess I can live with it until the ICS update.
Android :: Default Launcher Setting Not Sticking
Sep 13, 2010I'm using Launcher Pro and just yesterday I started having the issue where if you long-press Home and switch apps, you remove your default launch choice and then need to reselect it the next time you short-press on Home. It remembers the setting until I again long-press and use the app switcher.My question: how do I get this to stick? What 'app' is used to do the app switch by default, and is there anything else I could use to do this? I would hate to be stuck with this permanently, and I'm not thinking it is LauncherPro's fault. What other apps could conflict and cause this behavior?

The only problem is that I have to force quit my default homescreen (in this case it's called "LG Homescreen")--task-killers won't work and I have to go into the application settings to force it. Fine. But every time I reboot my phone it runs along side of adw and I want only adw when the phone boots. I already set adw as my default homscreen, no change.

Still prefer LauncherPro but I can show this off if an iPhone fanboy talks about how great iPhone UI is. Couple of notes: -To edit bottom dock, go into menu, press edit, this allows you to move icons around between dock and menu. -To edit order of homescreens or # of homescreens, go home, press menu and then edit. Couple of flaws: -Cannot set your own icons for bottom dock (you can change which apps are there but cannot use custom icons). Cannot set a default homescreen.

I checked my application directory and it doesnt exist and i also tried disabling HTC Sense and it dont have the option to choose the default launcher. General :: ADW Launcher With Default App Drawer?
Jan 19, 2012But is it possible to have ADW launcher have the default app drawer or are the launcher and appdrawer tied together. eg you can only have one or the other. The device in question is the motorola xoom wifi.
Reason being is because I enjoy having ADW launcher's ability to take up the full screen on my xoom as opposed to have the columns on either side where you cant place app (wasted screen real estate if you ask me, since theirs no need for a tapping area when you can swipe to change screens). But at the same time I very much enjoy the ICS app drawer and being able to see a visual representation of my widgets and what not.
if it is possible to have both the ICS app drawer and a custom launcher? By this I mean to have the custom launcher home screen and the default appdrawer? I have googled but I haven't found an answer Thats why im asking. I don't know enough about android to figure it out on my own, So can you have both your cake and eat it too? May 26, 2010I have activities A and B. The A is the one with LAUNCHER intent-filter (i.e. the activity that is started when we click the app icon on home screen). A launches B using start Activity(new Intent(A.this, B.class)). When the user has the B activity open, and then put my application into the background, and later my application's process is killed, when the user starts my application again, B is opened instead of A. This caused a force close in my app, because A is the activity that initializes the resources my app needs, and when B tried to access the uninitialized resources, B crashes.
