I downloaded Laputa eBook reader a while back, and have already downloaded about a dozen books through it. Now the update for Laputa has come through I reads my library as empty, and there is no way to manually add the books already on my SD card. And failing that, anyone know of a good reader that actually works?

Do any of you use the Droid as a book reader? If so what app do you use and where do you order books that can be used with that apps reader?
Also I know you can play videos on the Droid. If I wanted to put my own ripped movies on the Droid can I do that? Does the droid recognize XVID or Mpeg? What movie player would I need to use? I have a whole bunch of tv dvd's that I want to rip and watch on the train.
While at home, I want to be able to read book from a network drive (I have all my book stored on a NAS). And I don't want to download any book on my tablet (as I will only read at home). How can I achieve that?

View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a problem on my Asus ME301T tablet with the Play Books app (I'm running android 4.2). Regular text based books work just fine, however, comic books show as blank pages. Sometimes it will load a few pages if I rotate the screen a few times.
I've tried to reinstall the app and redownload the comics without luck. It works fine on my Samsung i9000 running android 4.3.
I know this has most likely been discussed many times. But I am looking for a decent email widget.
At the moment I am using the default htc email widget, however when ever I read an email from my gmail account it doesnt update the read status so it still shows as unread.
I would like one that would update the read status and possible the support for unified inbox so I can see new mail from hotmail account and gmail.
I have the book reader downloaded and the "Bestsellers for Laputa" downloaded but every time I try to open it it says that the book reader is not downloaded and sends me back to the market! What am I doing wrong?

I'm having problems with K-9 mail. I'm getting mail fine and can delete it but nothing ever gets marked as 'read'. My new mail messages are up to the hundreds by the middle of the week until I go to google and mark them all as read.

View 26 Replies View RelatedYesterday my Droid Incredible kept telling me there was an update to my phone. I waited until 8 or 9 hours later and then did the update last night. EVERY single app, contact, messgae, email...everything is GONE...the phone is like the day I got it. I had no warning and I'm beyond devastated. I was able to use Backup Assistant for my contacts, LOTS of pictures are gone, ALL my message threads are gone and on Monday, I'm going to have to reset my Exchange email at work. I've reloaded my personal email and some apps I remember, but I cannot tell you how upset I am.
One of the biggest problems is I don't know what I don't have? I had so many apps, and I don't have a record of them.
Is there some way to back up everything on the phone, all settings, etc, to a website so this never happens again? I am NOT rooted and a I have Froyo 2.2
I recently purchased a Galaxy S3, that was completely factory reset with JB 4.1.2.
I downloaded a couple of .jpg files to use as backgrounds, but then decided not to use them - but left them on the device (not in the original download location however)
A couple days ago I received the 4.3 update from AT&T, which seemed to go off without a hitch. But now, the 3 files I downloaded seem to continue to download. - at least I get a notification that the files are downloaded (3 different notifications).
I deleted the files to see if that would stop it - no luck.
I went to Chrome and closed all the tabs (a couple were still open to the location I downloaded them from) - no luck.
When I get the notifications, if I click on it, it says it can't find the file.If I just clear it off, they come back a few hours later.

Ok from Velocity 0.2 with Clockworkmod and V9 SW version I flashed the stock V6 Rom, then flashed stock recovery. got ota updates to V8 and then ZVB without any errors. SW Version on phone read VS740ZVB. I then rerouted, applied Clockworkmod recovery and installed Velocity 0.2 and then the GNMTurbo4 kernel. SW Version on phone reads VS740ZVB. Then another OTA update showed up. It claimed to be 24.9MB just like the ZVB update. Of course it would not install because I was using custom recovery.
My question is, what is this update? Is it the ZVB update coming through again? Did my ZVB update not apply correctly or is it not recognized by Verizon since I'm using custom recovery and rom? Is there a new update that I'm missing out on, and if so, what is it, and do I need to apply it?
Lots of questions, I know.Just wondering what exactly is going on and do I need to do anything about it? Is there any way to pull info on this update from the downloaded file, and if so, where can I find the file and how do I get info from it?
So I downloaded the unroot file, installed it onto the SD card (formatted by the phone), and when I load Hboot it finds no update. It just brings up the normal menu (fastboot, clear storage, simlock, etc.).

Did a format with the phone and copied all over on the card, no luck. Putting the card in the PC. I can do everything with the files, copie, delete and so on. Then did a format with the pc fat32 and copied all back, again on the phone only read only.

In my case they remain "unread" until I go through message. Is this normal? If it is, is there any way around this? If it's not normal, how do I go about making sure it syncs?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAnytime my phone tries to do anything that might access the SD card, I get a notification that the card encountered an unexpected problem and was mounted as read-only. After a few searches, it seemed that unmounting and reformatting it might solve the problem. If that didn't help, erasing all phone data might fix the problem. Well, I wasn't able to unmount the SD card for some reason. That option wasn't ghosted out, but clicking on it didn't do anything. Eventually, I decided to just do the factory reset. Then I did a phone storage format.
After that I saw a tip that perhaps removing the card would help. What I did was remove it, booted the phone, and inserted it while it was on. This allowed me to unmount then format the SD card. The first thing I did was try to redownload some apps from the market. First on my list was google maps update. Immediately after clicking to download, I get the same notification that the SD card was mounted as read only as a result of an unexpected error. Given all this, is my card just junk after updating to froyo?
I updated to Froyo the other morning and now all my photos and videos are gone. When I tap into Gallery it still says I have 163 photos but only my 3 newest pics after I updated show up. My internal phone storage is currently read-only which I never noticed before. I did a test and restarted the phone and quickly went to the gallery before everything booted up. I saw all my photos but when the phone storage prepared itself it went to read-only and they all disappeared. Should I do a factory reset? I'm new to Android so I'm not a pro at this yet. I know now I should have backed up my stuff.

Everything is working great except for some reason my external SD card (A 64 GB SanDisk MicroSD) is read only. The only thing I can do with it is to format it. Otherwise all write operations to it fail.
I have tried two different cards and several different apps (Terminal, Astro File Manager for instance) and none of them can write to the device.
I am almost thinking it is a matter of a missing new permission but I can't find anything in the SDK docs about it (If this is the case that is fine because my main use of the card is a home made music player that I've written).
