hi quys recently installed handcent sms app, prefer it to the stock app. just when i recieve a new message both the stock sms & handcent sms app log the recieved text. i have tried to see if you can remove the stock app from manage apps but dont have the option. am i overlooking something? as its annoying having two alerts all the time! cheers for reading & hope i am making sense!!

How do i dasable the standard HTC app as i seem to get a notification on both. Also i have moved the handcent app to the home screen but it does not display a numerical display of a received text message (on the app icon) which i liked on the standard app. Is there a way to get it to do this?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got a desire and handcent has been pretty good to me so far. the latest update has things a bit more stable (or so it seems at least) when sending group texts, however,i woke up to find my phone had 3 new text messages..but the phone battery went down from 100% to 83%! i know it's shocking but i got up at 2pm haha today and i got the texts at intervals of 8am and 11am. anyways i'm pretty sure it wasn't any other app as i usually lose about 8-13% at most. i checked the *#*#4636#*#* and in 'partial wake up' battery usage, it said handcent had been on for 4 hours! i know the phone can still be awake even if the screen is off but my settings have always been to not turn on screen when receiving a new message. i'm guessing this problem is because of the message popup staying active? i'll see how this fairs when i wake up tomo morning and if i get any texts..

Tapping.....(cant read the rest of the message) Can anyone help with this. The only way i can access my photos or music is going via a file explorer.
View 49 Replies View RelatedMy problem is this, I downloaded Handcent and really like it, however, I can't send messages from home. I have marginal service here (around -98 avg.) but I do get 3G. Whenever I send a message it says Message Failed - Retry, Cancel? I've even had this problem in places with great coverage for both 3G and cell service. The stock messaging app works just fine. So what I've been doing is receiving messages with Handcent and then sending them using the stock app.
So, does anyone have any ideas of what I can do? Are there any settings that can be changed? Does handcent use 3G to send messages?
I'm now trying Chomp to see if that's any better. And, just an FYI, I'm having trouble with text messages, not MMS. I haven't tried sending any pics or videos yet, I've just been sending SMS.
I know this has most likely been discussed many times. But I am looking for a decent email widget.
At the moment I am using the default htc email widget, however when ever I read an email from my gmail account it doesnt update the read status so it still shows as unread.
I would like one that would update the read status and possible the support for unified inbox so I can see new mail from hotmail account and gmail.
My backlight comes on when charging, even if I lock the phone (to a blank screen) and I receive a text or message - a dim backlight comes on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe thing is that time to time my device does not respond to screen touch. For instance: then there is an incoming call it stays blank and I can not see who is calling and at the same time not able to answer it.
Touching the screen does nothing, only after pushing hard buttons, I am able to terminate the call. Also, when I am trying to access the OS from sleep mode by pressing the power button--there is no home screen--it stays blank. The only thing it does---the lights go on the home, menu, back and search buttons.
I did contact ot HTC help service and they told me to try to use the device in safe mode for two days. (this should terminate all 3rd party applications, that might cause the issue). Its my first day that I am use is in the safe mode and so far I do not experience any problems.
I do suspect that the reason of my problem could be the task killer that I am using in order to eliminator some programs running in background. But I did try out several task killers so far, however the issue remains the same
I made a pattern lock for handcent but I can still view those messages on the stock sms.
Is there a way to make a pattern lock for stock sms or prevent messages from handcent from being read on the stock sms?
Cannot seem to be able to disable sense UI on UK Desire, contrary to video available showing how to do this..I tried via stop application but it stays on...any advice?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded and been using Handcent app for my messages, its a really good app dose everything i wanted out of a message app.How ever there is one thing i cant see to get working, I'm using the HTC desire and every time i resevice a message it shows i have a message on the handcent icon on my home screen that works great. Its when i lock the keypad and unlock the keypad i still get the last message showing up on the lock screen and the notification bar at the top is still displying the message icon even tho i have read the last message. i have been thru the setting and cant find out to turn this off or to use handcent has my default messaging app.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.
I have been using Handcent for just under a month. I like it very much. I have a question though. Since I no longer use ATK and been observing using System Panel; I notice that both are still running ACTIVE. Handscent has more CPU time then Message. More then half my txts come up as a quick text over the lock screen.Is that pulling from Handcent or Message?

I tried that and when I use Handcent it still says the message is not delivered and sometimes it just flat out sends a blank message.The text is going to an email not an actual phone number but I'd like to keep handcent because I really like the pop up and the GUI. View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else noticed that you can't send a text message to more than 10 people at a time through the stock text messaging app ever since Froyo? This was a major blow to me as I coach a softball team and have to send out a text message to 15 or more people every week. It worked before Froyo but not anymore.
Handcent allows this, so I switched over to it. But now I am getting double notifications when I receive a text message. How do I turn "off" the stock text messaging app?
I'm using handcent and have disabled the message notifications in the stock messaging application but what i still get is a pop-up message window from the stock app showing the message and i can reply in that app if i wish, however, handcent widget will still show one unread sms message and i would have to go read the message via handcent to get rid of the new sms icon etc.
Of course I could ignore the stock app's pop-up window and close it, go to hancent and read / reply that way but what i want is just visual and audible notifications from hancent. I don't want the stock messaging app to do anything at all. (T-mobile G2 on Version 1.5)
The only problem is when I receive a text message, I get 2 notifications. One from Handcent and one from the stock messaging app on the phone. How do I stop the stock messaging app for good and stop notifying me??
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I updated (finally!!) to 2.1 OTA on Saturday morning. Ever since then, my Handcent app has been acting strangely. Seems at least half of the txts I send generate an "Undelivered message" error, and there's that lil red 'x' next to the msg in the convo. Thing is, I've checked with friends, and the texts are in fact being sent just fine. Anyone else having this problem? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Handcent, to no avail. It's really annoying to have to delete the "undelivered messages" every time. Plus then I have no record on my phone of that sent txt.

The only problem is that i can not figure out a way to have the widget take me into handcent (rather then the htc native messaging app) when i hit either the list or compose butttons at the bottom of the widget. Anyone have any ideas or will the widget just always connect with the htc app?

No problem at all on Email just the one notification tone but SMS seems to be the buggy object here.After the 2.1 upgrade, I'm still getting two notifications on SMS messages. And the two notifications thing still occurs WITHOUT Handcent its obviously because I have two different alerts set one for email and a different one for SMS and on receiving an SMS, BOTH tones play.is there a way to set up the notifications so that one tone plays for SMS notifications only, and the other plays for Email notifications only?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently started having an issue when I try to save a picture from a picture message on handcent. I cannot see the picture in my gallery only until I reboot the phone. With the regular droid messaging program, the pictures appear right away. I am not sure if this is an issue since I am now running 2.2 on my droid. Anybody else having the same issue.
