View 4 RepliesIs there a way to change free app into paid app in Market? I.e. you release com.foo.xxx as free but later you'd like to charge for app and drop free version completely.. I do not see anything like this in Market console at the moment. I know I can release com.foo.xxx.pro for example but my intention would be to keep package name as is so current users would see there's upgrade available. Alternatively, if there's no way to do that can I completely remove app from market so com. would be reusable for other app?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to know how I can get a new Android phone without using an upgrade (I don't have one). I would prefer a Moto first gen Droid, or a Droid 2, but right now I'm waiting until June to get a new upgrade because the people at Verizon seem to think that two years is not too long for a smart phone upgrade, especially a Android phone. Any way I can replace my Eris and still have my next upgrade intact?

View 3 Replies View RelatedDoing a search here and elsewhere, I am confused -- is android 2.0 out yet? I have my HTC Hero via Sprint and the 2.0 upgrade is not yet available on their download site. I called Sprint customer service and they said it would NOT negate my Sprint support if I did an upgrade to 2.0 but they could not give me details on how or where to upgrade.

View 16 Replies View Relatedi have a deadspot on my screen in the bottom left hand corner. so anytime i want to hit the Shift button or type "z" or "c" i have turn my phone sideways. then as soon as i start typing that way i have to turn my sideways again to type "m" or hit the NUM button.i signed a 2 year contract with Verizon after they convinced me to buy the Eris instead of the MotoDroid. after this one it will be my 3RD Eris. the earpiece in the first one died within a month and this one is the buggiest, slowest, most horrible batter life ever phone (not to mention a dead spot in the screen). are there any chances they'll upgrade me to a better phone and this p.o.s.? or when you bring it in to get it replaced do they just ship you a new crappy Eris?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI want to release multiple applications to android marketplace which are all very slightly customized based on a code base. I can't just change the package indentifier in the AndroidManifest.xml file because several other things dependet on this like action identifiers and so on.
What is the best approach to release several apps based on one eclipse project with the same code base?
I've never used git before, but I'd like to download the android source code as I'm getting a crash in the 2.2 emulator and I'd like to see exactly where in the android source code it's crashing (so I can file a better bug report). Edit A decent answer would include instructions on using git to download a specific repository. I'm on windows, but have installed Msysgit.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust curious if anyone is worried about getting a phone that is new on the day it is released. Last time I did that I was very disapointed. (VZW Storm 1 owner.) I waited in line to get this PoS and have hated the majority of time I have had it. Anyone worried about something like this with Droid X?
View 21 Replies View RelatedI signed up for this forum because I had recently gotten my Eris and it seemed very appealing to have a online community which was devoted to such an amazing piece of device. Anyways the question is regarding the 2.1 update. I know many of you are like go search. But the thing is that this question has not been asked a lot from what I have seen on the forum. So considering that Verizon has the update, why are they toying with us and why don't they just release it all over the nation or on the Verizon site already?
View 30 Replies View RelatedReceived my 2.1 OTA at 1:36 AM last night and ever since, I can't manually lock my phone by short pressing the power button anymore. I thought maybe this was a Spare Parts issue, since I had changed the Power Button behavior on 1.5 using Spare Parts (when I pressed Power from any screen, it would return me Home; pressing from Home would Lock). So, I uninstalled Spare Parts, but this didn't remedy my problem. Any advice?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI once had a HTC TyTN. It was basically ok at what it did, but it couldn't sync with my Linux systems reliably, so it lost much of its appeal. I eventually sold it and I'm now using a 15 euro phone that came with 10 euro prepaid. You know the kind. Basically, I needed any mobile phone and I would keep my contacts / schedule on paper until a better solution came along. </backstory> I've been meaning to complicate things again. Android now seems like a good solution, and the Droid/Milestone is the best there currently is. Problem is, I live in the Netherlands.
It's in Germany and in Italy now. But is there any more information - educated guesses even - on when it might arrive in the Netherlands? Or, I'm sure others are interested, elsewhere in Europe? I was hoping to get one this year. Should I hold my breath? I know there is the option to import the device from Germany or Italy. But as I understand it, three quarters of the appeal of Android in general, and the Droid in particular, is the wireless internet connectivity.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI heard that the original free release of this app was 10 times better than the free one available now. I just want to try it with all the bells and whistles before I fork over the cash...
And before you say anything, I am recently very frugal and try to keep my money as long as I can... but I will purchase the app if I find it works nicely.
I pre ordered my Droid X a couple days ago and I was wondering, since I know I will be getting a multitude of accessories for my X, what are you guys planning on getting, and why? Cases, screen protectors, car docks and the like. This thread might help me decide on what i want to buy too.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI've heard that this should be coming to Verizon before Thanksgiving? Is there anything to support this? My contract is currently up and I'm wanting to get an Android phone (and this one looked cool) but I don't want to wait too long if it isn't going to be available reasonably soon. Also, are there ant charts comparing all the different phones coming out soon?
View 49 Replies View RelatedOne thing some of you over-clockers may not be aware of is, the over-clocked kernel that you flashed to your DROID is based off of the 2.0 kernel. Some folks are reporting issues again that were present before the 2.0.1 update i.e. crackling audio, LED and keyboard back-lighting dysfunction, etc. Actually, I have yet to experience any of these issues.
This isn't bad news, mind you. Just a little something that we can look forward to as the new & improved kernels become available. I still have high hopes that the official 2.1 release is going to be a very optimized ROM/kernel for our beloved DROID. And when that kernel gets over-clocked.
UPDATE: I have since removed the CompCache from my DROID. I would get reboots when I tried calling anyone.
So i have the option of saying my Moto Droid is damaged and getting it replaced with a Droid 2. My question for you all is do i take the opportunity? I love my Droid but am not sure if i wanna deal with getting used a new phone.

I'm with Verizon Wireless btw.The EVO really has everything I want (Kickstand, Front camera, huge screen, HDMI) but it's Sprint only. I heard rumors and saw pictures of an EVO-esque phone (not the Merge) hitting verizon in I don't know how long. What phone should I get? I don't care about a physical keyboard. Id like a big screen, HDMI, and a front facing camera, any phones on Verizon like this, or upcoming? (Not the X).

I want something faster and with a bogger screen, no physical keyboard, but not huge like the droid x, which i like but its simply too big to keep in my pocket or on my side. Price is not much of a deterent for me.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe Android 2.2 Upgrade List: Phones Definitely Getting Froyo
Nexus One: Despite the shuttering of its online store, Google's flagship phone is still first in line for the Froyo upgrade. In late May, a "very limited test group" received an early copy of the 2.2 software. Google has since been working on final tweaks and expects a widespread rollout to begin soon.
Motorola Droid: The Droid that started it all is set to be second in line for the Android 2.2 upgrade. Early reports suggested the Droid could see Froyo before the end of June. We all know what happened with the Droid's 2.1 upgrade schedule, though, so don't mark your calendars just yet.
HTC Droid Incredible: HTC has confirmed that its newest Droid handset will be feasting on Froyo. No specific timeframe has been released outside of sometime "in the second half of this year."
HTC EVO 4G: The EVO 4G is the phone most frequently pitted up against Apple's new iPhone 4 (hint: the EVO wins), so it's no surprise that it's on the confirmed guest list for the latest and greatest Android release. The EVO should get Froyo sometime in the next six months.
MyTouch 3G and MyTouch 3G Slide: The entire MyTouch line of phones on T-Mobile is expected to see Froyo before the end of 2010.
HTC Desire: It's not yet available in the States, but this desirable HTC handset is on-tap to get the Android 2.2 upgrade sometime in the next six months as well.
What's the best way to back up Android phones prior to a complete wipe / re-install of new OS? (back up of sms, apps, data for apps, call log, etc etc...) Early this year it was My Backup, and Astro File manager I believe. Is there something newer or better these days?
