HTC Droid Eris :: Can't Connect To Facebook / Can Connect To Facebook For HTC Sense

I have the HTC Droid Eris. Before the 2.1 update, I just had Facebook sync, but afterwards, it was synced with Facebook for HTC Sense. My problem is that it won't let me sync with just Facebook.I still want my contacts to sync with my phone, because I like the facebook pictures on there. Personally, I like Facebook sync better, because I don't like having all my Facebook contacts on my phone, because the numbers show up twice (number that I have on my phone plus the number that my friends have on Facebook).To prevent that from happening, I would rather have my phone connected to Facebook only and not Facebook for HTC Sense.I thought I could do it, but it won't let me even click on Facebook--like, nothing pops up or anything.I wasn't sure if it was my phone, so I took my dad's Eris and tried to do the same, it works fine on his phone, but I can't get mine to do sync with facebook whatsoever. There isn't a "Social Network" option in 1.6, and I was wondering if there was any way to connect my Facebook friends to my contacts to get their photos. Either through a 3rd party app or some different setting that I don't know about.

I know how to select one contact and have it sync with its Facebook account but when you have 289 contacts, you need something faster .

Like everyone who's updated to 2.1, I'm experiencin the same bugs with Facebook (i.e. all my FB contacts show up in my dialer and my txt msgs). Anyways, I was toolin around in Accounts & Sync under Settings. Right now, the accounts I have set up are Google, Weather, and Facebook for HTC Sense. When I click Add an Account, there's something called just "Facebook," in addition to the "Facebook for HTC Sense."I've always known there were two Facebook apps (or whatever you wanna call them) on my phone, cause when I want to share a pic I take, I can do it using either "Facebook" or "Facebook for HTC Sense." I always share the picture using "Facebook" because it allows me to post a comment as well.Anyways, getting back to Accounts & Sync, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on how these two apps differ. Maybe if I choose to sync the "Facebook" account as opposed to "Facebook for HTC Sense," that could solve some of these issues we're all having? I have no idea, but I'm hesitant to do anything for fear of clogging up my phone's contact list with Facebook friends.

I am trying to use the Facebook SDK for android but It gives me runtime error (ClassCastException) when i include the com.facebook.android.LoginButton as the login button. Please can anyone let me know if they have used Facebook connect in their application and the steps that are to be followed to get it running properly.

I am looking for a solution for facebook connect for Android. Before I used an open source solution from codecarpet: http://code.google.com/p/fbconnect-android/ but now it doesn't work anymore. Now the Official facebook connect for Android is out, but there are about 11 big time issues and it fails almost all the time, so its not a real solution. http://github.com/facebook/facebook-android-sdk/ Any idea how to resolve this issue?

My website uses Facebook Connect for authentication on the desktop and mobile sites. When a user clicks the Facebook button, the browser opens a popup window where the user can login to Facebook. When the user logs in, the window closes and messages the main window to go on.This works great on iPhone. A new window opens and is brought to the foreground. After logging in, brings the original window to the foreground. Everything is happy.On Android, the user experience sucks. Trying to be clever, Android opens a popup window on top of the current window. However, the login popup is completely zoomed out and the input boxes are tiny. Predictably, many users just close the popup and give up.How can I use the Connect JS library to force a real window to open, or at least force Android to make the login box presentable?

Certain apps need to be connected to Facebook. They let you sign in to Facebook and then return to the app. Sometimes i then get error message 'can t connect' with certain apps, but when i look in Facebook, the apps seem to be connected. But still the app itself keeps displaying the error message.

I tried to clear setting in Gmail and it shows your email will appear shortly. Also today it wont let me connect to Facebook and to the market. This is for the Droid Incredible.

I have had the phone a few days now and I cannot connect to facebook thru Timescape.The Facebook application on the phone though works fine, just have issues when trying to connect do it via Timescape. If i click on a FB notification and i want to open it, it prompts me to the login screen. I confirm login with the correct details and then it just hangs there on the login. You can see the toolbar up the top go to the correct address and the progress bar goes in green and fills up but it doesnt proceed to the next page, it just hangs on the login screen.
I have checked my APN settings and I have 2 of them set up by default on the phone. I am with Vodafone in Aus and I checked their APN settings on a android site and there is only one for Internet and MMS. Should I delete one of them?

Timescape used to work fine but now everytime I try to update facebook it with "Could not update from Facebook - could not connect to the internet." I've seen discussed on other forums about the notification displaying even thouh the update was successful - in ny case it actually does fail. My phone's internet settings are unlikely to be the problem as i have had no difficulty watching HD streaming video connecting through Optus Australia 3G.
I've tried signing out of the facebook ap and also signing out from facebook in the browser just in case facbook was denying the connection - this did not fix it. I've tried deleting the timescape facebook service account and adding it again - didn't fix. I have also gone into Manage Applicatons and hit 'Clear data' for timescape - also didn't fix.

I'm using Easy Tether right now to post this, yet it will not connect to Facebook, or Gmail and Google Voice, PicasaWeb, or other Google products, aside from Gqueues.If I connect this laptop through any wireless connection (my home network or multiple public wifi hotspots) it has no problems seeing those sites.Ideas?

I have downloaded ebuddy app but it will not connect to facebook i have also tried gochat too and still the same. they install fine but when i put login in then try to connect to facebook they wouldn't let. Friend has got galaxy s and are working fine.

My HTC Desire's Facebook directory lists 205 friends for my Facebook, while in reality I have 207 (and Facebook for Android app of course shows them all, too)I'm not quite sure why or how 2 of them have gone missing, but I think one went when I messed a bit up, merged 2 contacts on my phone and started removing information from that contact, so it in the end had only 1 number and 1 facebook friend linked to it. Ever since I haven't been able to see the friend whose contact/link I removed in Facebook directory.I've tried uninstalling Facebook for Android to access Facebook for HTC Sense, but apparently it can't be completely uninstalled - only the update(s) for it, and the cache/data can be uninstalled for what I can tell.
So I've uninstalled it's updates, I've cleared it data/cache - and I've cleared all the cache/data from Facebook for HTC Sense too.I've removed my phone-linked Facebook account, too, with no luck.No matter how many times I try re-syncing or refreshing, the 2 contacts are still missing.One new contact that I added as my friend today appeared normally, though.Any ideas how to fix this? It's annoying when I can't link 1 contact to her Facebook, when I have pretty much everyone else linked to theirs.

Well, I seem to either A) have a problem or B) it's a problem just in general.I have Facebook installed, and there's obviously Facebook for HTC Sense. I want to sync my Facebook account and only that. I don't personally care to use the Sense inspired widgets because I like my streams separate.Anyway, I go into the Accounts menu in settings and removed the Facebook for Sense account and tried to add a new account, but whenever I click Facebook, it does absolutely nothing.I don't understand what's going on. If anyone has any clue, I'd love to hear it!

I'm a little confused as to how to differentiate between Facebook and Facebook for HTC Sense, which both can be found in Settings>Accounts & Sync.Does anybody know the difference between the two apps? Is the Sense version purely for the Friends Stream, as there's the same situation for Twitter?

Has anyone figured out the difference between syncing Facebook for HTC Sense in the account syncing section vs. plain Facebook? I am trying to figure out if the one I'm using (Facebok for HTC Sense) is using up too much memory.
My phone memory is around 33% whereas my husband's memory is 64%! He has very few contacts and I'm wondering if the syncing with Facebook is taking up all my phone memory (vs SD Card memory which is fine).

I am probably reposting, but i can't find the exact answer im looking for (if you know the thread, please link it).
Facebook for HTC Sense is a POS. We all know that. But what is killing me is that I can set up a "sync" my HTC Eris with Fb for HTC Sense (that doesnt actually sync) but not for the standard Facebook app.
The HTC Sense Facebook App does a terrible job of syncing contacts w/ the phone, so I am trying to do it thru the Facebook for Android App.
I) Should I just keep on trying with the HTC App even tho its not fully working or syncing?
When I go to Menu> Settings> Accounts&sync>Add account (after removing sycing w/ FB for HTC Sense) I can add an account for: Facebook -or- Facebook for HTC Sense.
But, when I try to click on Facebook, nothing happens. Fb for HTC still works and I can add the account to that, but I wont get the contacts again. (I think).
II) What is going on w/ my Facebook for Android app? (I have updated it, too).

I've experienced quite a lot of problems with the WiFi after updating the Andriod. Everytime I try to connect to my home-network i get that it failed to connect.
The phone didn't have any problems with this before the update.
Anyone had the same kind of problem, or anyone that has a smart fix for it?

I recently purchased Wii Remote IME from the market place and I need help getting my Wii remote to connect to my Eris.I switched to Android home as HTC Sense UI is reportedly not working correctly with said program.I've read through the comments and I didn't catch anyone mentioning an Eris.

I HAVE ALREADY READ THE OTHER THREADS SIMILAR TO THIS!!
My PC won't recognize my Droid Eris and vice-versa. It used to recognize it sporadically, but now it's not recognizing it at all. Null. Zero. Nada.
The USB option is not coming up in my notification bar, so I don't have any option to tap "mount" and the few times my laptop did recognize it, all I got was "USB Device Not Recognized". The only reason I even know the plug works is because when I plug it in, the phone starts charging.
Here's what I've done so far trying to solve the problem:
- I've gone into Device Manager and tried updating drivers with no luck
- I've uninstalled/reinstalled HTC Sync with no luck
- I've rebooted both the phone and the PC several times with no luck
- I've enabled "disk drive" option under default connection type with no luck
And I know everyone's going to point out that there are a dozen or more threads dedicated to this topic, but all those are either
A) because someone didn't know to tap "mount"... or
B) Have gone so off-topic that the thread is irrelevant by this point
So has anyone found a solve to this problem yet?
Note: I'm rooted and I have leaked 2.1 installed. But this has been going on even with 1.5 before rooting.

I have my home wireless set up with WEP and it automatically connects. However, when I get to a place with open wireless how do I connect to it? The SSID does not show up so even if I go to add a new wireless connection it asks for the SSID and I have no way of knowing. Am I missing something very simple?
