View 1 Replies View RelatedI'd like a bluetooth handsfree set that has an easy charging solution (doesn't need to carry a bulky charger with me), good sound and easy to wear. I'd take suggestions to both for music use (both ears) and phone use.had a jawbone-handsfree set before, but it was a victim of small size and crowded apartment. been two years, and yet to find it.

I just want something where I can drive using the phone's GPS, and not have it interrupted by any texts during the trip. Then, after I'm done driving, have the texts arrive on the phone.
I did a few searches and couldn't really find what I was looking for.
In my application I want to show route between two points and display points (something like POI's from my own source) the user will be riding through.
How can I get the directions (polyline) from GoogleMaps? Application will not provide any navigation so I suppose that there are no "leagal obstacles" for doing this (correct me please if I'm wrong).
I know, you can make short cuts, but they are a real pain (and unsafe) to use while driving. It would be great to long press on any number in the dialer and dial a selected number. By the way, I'm sure you've noticed if you select a number on the dialer, then press # a contact number on your SIM card appears. Not sure what the hell they were thinking of with that one...

I am developing maps application which has to support driving directions and route search and creation. But there is no API support in Android for this.
So i want to use google map APIs instead of Android APIs, Are there any APIs available for driving directions in google. If yes, What are those APIs, How can i use those APIs with Http request/response.
I read some where that earlier googlenav package was there in Android SDK, but it is now removed. May I know the reason for removal of this package, or When can i expect it to come back with fixed version of googlenav in Android? Looking forward to your reply.
When driving I have the phone on the dashboard but do not feel comfortable pressing a button or dragging the menu down to answer a call. I don't have a hands free kit or bluetooth headset and wondered if there is a way of answering by voice and then speaking over the loudspeaker?
View 8 Replies View RelatedIn short what I'm looking for is instructions to be able to connect my HTC One X to my PC (windows 7 Home Edition) via Bluetooth and be able to use my PC's mic to talk and my PC's speakers to listen to the call.
In other words, I want my PC to act as a car's handsfree system.
It seems possible from the googling I have done.
Many articles tells you to connect your phone via BT and choose "Handsfree" as the service. However, when I connect my HOX the only service I get is a network connection (to tether my internet connection).
After launching Android maps application from other application, how to get driving direction info from maps application? e.g. distance, estimated driving time, etc.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if there's an app out there that can track traffic patterns/route times. I know that those Runners apps. can track speed/time to destination, but I'm interested in being able to track which highways/roads have the most/least amounts of traffic on which days and at which times, or which roads cause you to wait the longest at certain lights, so that I can know in advance (the app. would alert me which route to take on which day according to data collected over time). I've always been kind of fascinated by traffic patterns, but I'm also a fairly focused driver, so I don't generally look at times it has taken me on different days. You can feel like taking a back way one day, but does it really save you any time with all the lights you hit instead?

On my other phone, a samsung galaxy s3 from verizon with android 4.3, there is a "driving mode". I thought it was a true android capability, but could it be a samsung feature instead ?In any case how do I get the Nexus 5 with Android 4.4 to do the same ? can I get it to do it using an NFC tag...
I can't stand the HTC Handsfree kit and was wondering if anyone can recommend an alternative?

My name is Daniel Feldman and I am with the product group of an exciting new startup called Waze.
Waze is aiming to create the first user generated live driving map through the use of Smartphones. Our goal is to empower drivers to create, share and use real-time information (such as Traffic updates or road accidents) straight from their Smartphones. This has been both very popular and efficient in Israel, where we first began.
Waze is currently seeking 100 alpha users in the Bay Area who'll be the first users to participate in building this exciting project. In addition, if you have any other ideas, tips or suggestions, we would love to hear from you.
Does Android 4.1 allow a device to serve as a Hands-Free Profile (HFP) device? Similar to the way many newer cars come with integrated Bluetooth/HFP, I would like to use my tablet (Nexus 7) as a front-end for my phone. When an incoming call comes in, the phone should relay the call over Bluetooth to the tablet; it should also allow the tablet to make outgoing calls via Bluetooth over the phone's network.
I am not interested in solutions such as GrooveIP, Talkatone, and SIPDroid. I am specifically looking for Bluetooth HFP.I wouldn't mind looking into developing such a product - but I first wanted to know if the HSP 1.6 host API was available in Android 4.1. I've seen resources stating it was available in ICS 4.0, but I believe this is to allow Android devices to connect to third-party HSP devices - I'm looking to do the opposite (i.e. have the Android device serve as the HSP host).
Looking at getting one of the Parrot MKi9000 series car kits. Anyone got experience with their Tattoo and an installed kit? Any problems? How does it work? Phone? AD2P?

I had a sonyericson x-10 mini pro with android 2.1 that worked just fine, recently i've aquired a bq aquaris 5hd with jelly bean 4.2.1, and i cant get bluetooth to stay connected.
what happens is, i pair the two devices just fine, but then, they just remain connected for some secs and then connection is disabled, rendering the handsfee kits useless. i reconnect, after some secs it disconnects again. been reading on internet and it seems its a common problem with JB 4.2.1, these bluetooth issues.
I have ultimate ears headphones and was wondering whether they were compatible. The UE site says iphone and other smartphones.

View 12 Replies View RelatedThere's a route I take to my sisters place that is different than the Droid would have me drive. I swear I read or a friend told me there is a "save route" feature that once you finish driving your way, you can select which will help force it to take you that way in the future.
I can't find this, if it exists. No other GPS I've owned have had this feature, and I've often lamented, "wouldn't it be nice if it *knew* I wanted to take this road over that one." Only asking 'cause someone once told me this might be a feature. Am I way off or am I blind to finding it?
Driving me nuts trying to find a way to delete old locations. I read that since the maps update you can no longer delete history and the clear cache option is greyed out.
