View 12 RepliesThere's a route I take to my sisters place that is different than the Droid would have me drive. I swear I read or a friend told me there is a "save route" feature that once you finish driving your way, you can select which will help force it to take you that way in the future.
I can't find this, if it exists. No other GPS I've owned have had this feature, and I've often lamented, "wouldn't it be nice if it *knew* I wanted to take this road over that one." Only asking 'cause someone once told me this might be a feature. Am I way off or am I blind to finding it?
What should I have my GPS settings on to get best location? I think I changed them and now it shows me like 10 blocks from where I am?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWondering how many of you have a compass that is accurate through its entire travel? Mine heads in the right direction for about 270 degrees (rotating the phone) and the other 90 it is off by about 30 degrees. I have checked out 4 or 5 others in stores since launch day and they behave exactly the same. I also see this behavior using street view.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe battery status is horrible. Why does it look like it's at 50% when at 30%? I downloaded an app that puts the percentage in the status bar, but it's at the top left in notifications. Is there an app that replaces the current icon with one with a percentage or, at least, is more accurate? I doubt there is. I didn't find anything on Marketplace or through search.
View 12 Replies View RelatedCan anyone recommend any good driving apps? I have ACar installed, which is good, but looking for any app which will just give me a sense of how many miles/day I am driving, possibly a summary of where I have driven, speed, etc. Thanks
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there an app that sets your phone for handsfree or speaker mode ready when your driving.Or maybe a profile to set the phone to answer in speaker mode when your driving.
View 9 Replies View RelatedLooked around and saw some real expensive alternatives, but not really what I'm looking for anyway.
I just want something where I can drive using the phone's GPS, and not have it interrupted by any texts during the trip. Then, after I'm done driving, have the texts arrive on the phone.
I did a few searches and couldn't really find what I was looking for.
In my application I want to show route between two points and display points (something like POI's from my own source) the user will be riding through.
How can I get the directions (polyline) from GoogleMaps? Application will not provide any navigation so I suppose that there are no "leagal obstacles" for doing this (correct me please if I'm wrong).
I know, you can make short cuts, but they are a real pain (and unsafe) to use while driving. It would be great to long press on any number in the dialer and dial a selected number. By the way, I'm sure you've noticed if you select a number on the dialer, then press # a contact number on your SIM card appears. Not sure what the hell they were thinking of with that one...
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I first had my desire the contacts seemed to back up to googlemail fine, something has happened (dont know what) and my contacts on googlemail have reduced to 42 (was 127) I am trying get all my contacts from phone backed up to googlemail (or just my PC) dont mind which one. Would be happy to have them on my PC somewhere. I am imp/exp to SD etc etc but it keeps asking me for a vCard, which I do but where is that vCard stored, and how do I get my contacts to my PC either via the Vcard or via sync - I have tried syncing but the numbers stay the same? Surely it should be easier than this - all I want to do is get my numbers backed up for saftey.

I read some where that earlier googlenav package was there in Android SDK, but it is now removed. May I know the reason for removal of this package, or When can i expect it to come back with fixed version of googlenav in Android? Looking forward to your reply.
When driving I have the phone on the dashboard but do not feel comfortable pressing a button or dragging the menu down to answer a call. I don't have a hands free kit or bluetooth headset and wondered if there is a way of answering by voice and then speaking over the loudspeaker?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if there's an app out there that can track traffic patterns/route times. I know that those Runners apps. can track speed/time to destination, but I'm interested in being able to track which highways/roads have the most/least amounts of traffic on which days and at which times, or which roads cause you to wait the longest at certain lights, so that I can know in advance (the app. would alert me which route to take on which day according to data collected over time). I've always been kind of fascinated by traffic patterns, but I'm also a fairly focused driver, so I don't generally look at times it has taken me on different days. You can feel like taking a back way one day, but does it really save you any time with all the lights you hit instead?

On my other phone, a samsung galaxy s3 from verizon with android 4.3, there is a "driving mode". I thought it was a true android capability, but could it be a samsung feature instead ?In any case how do I get the Nexus 5 with Android 4.4 to do the same ? can I get it to do it using an NFC tag...
I'm totally new to the G1, coming from an iphone, but my gps when on (and can actually get a signal lock), seems to always have me on the grass or in the water if driving my any. Its rarely ever where I am. and im in a major city. Perhaps that could be why, but i always have clear view to the sky.
View 12 Replies View Related1) Is there a way to save addresses or driving directions? View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I load Google Maps and it first locates me, it centers the map on my location. Once I am travelling, the map does not follow my location. My location dot will go right off the map and I have to manually drag the map to see the next section I am now driving on.
Is there a setting to make Google Maps follow my position while driving?
Facebook syncing to contacts was working great until tonight and it is driving me insane.I have two of the same facebook accounts synced.I'm sorry if this is confusing but basically, in Settings>>Accounts and sync: I have two facebook accounts synced but they are the same account. However, I do notice that the two icons are ever so slightly different.I am wondering if this is somehow syncing my facebook account through the app as well as through android. The reason why this is driving me nuts is because the accounts link to the contacts and for several contacts I have two facebook profiles synced, in addition to the phone contact, and gmail contact. This is really bugging the OCD-ness in me. Also when I search a contact to call or text for example, it might show one of their home numbers as "mobile" since it doesn't really know what type of number their facebook number(s) are. This problem started today when I shared my first picture through my phone onto facebook. I found it weird that it asked me to sign in again since I thought I had already done so through the app 'm sorry for such a long post, but I am wondering what I should do.Does this mean I should get rid of the facebook app?

Waze is aiming to create the first user generated live driving map through the use of Smartphones. Our goal is to empower drivers to create, share and use real-time information (such as Traffic updates or road accidents) straight from their Smartphones. This has been both very popular and efficient in Israel, where we first began.
Waze is currently seeking 100 alpha users in the Bay Area who'll be the first users to participate in building this exciting project. In addition, if you have any other ideas, tips or suggestions, we would love to hear from you.
How do I use Google Maps app to calculate the driving time and distance from Chicago to Los Angeles? *ONLY* Chicago to Los Angeles.... not NYC-Chicago-LA
I can do this very easily using my Macbook Pro by firing up Google Maps in Chrome browser.(or any browser)
However, I just can't figure out how to do this using the Google Maps app on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Sure, I can use use a browser to do this, but I want to do it inside the Google Maps app for Android.
New Incredible user just looking for some feedback, my battery stats are the following:
Uptime: 12:06
Awake time: 2:58
Battery use:
-Android system: 34%
-Cell standby 29%
-Phone Idle 22%
-Display 8%
-Voice calls 4%
-Maps 3%
I've been reading all other posts and their android system is significantly lower is there something draining my battery?
Even having this thing sync regularly its not accurate. Where is this weather coming from? I changed to weather bug and weather channel, both free apps are way better accuracy wise.
View 16 Replies View RelatedMy girlfriend recently bought the Incredible. She says the voice dialer app isn't very accurate, is there a way to train it? I had her go into the voice recognizer settings but the option to train it is not there as it was on the D2.She also says it doesn't prompt her for confirmation and she can't find the setting to have it confirm before dialing. Is there an option she's missing?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI just got the update for GPS fix not to long ago, so I decided to test out the new Swype mic and here is what I found wrong with it. The Swype is by far less accurate then the Android keyboard mic. Even if you have cuss words programed into your Swype; when you say cuss words it will show as #### if even at all. All in all I suppose 2 might not be the biggest deal in the world, but 1 is a huge deal.
