View 3 RepliesI have been looking for 3 days on how to install an APK that I created with my SDK on my desktop. I was able to copy the APK from my desktop to my phone but now whenever I try to install the APK on my phone I get an message INSTALL BLOCKED For security, your phone is set to block installation of applications not source in android market.
Is it possible to install a non market APK to my ARIA?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the Android platform and recently received my Aria (coming from a BB Curve). I am impressed on how contact data from multiple sources (facebook, google, outlook, etc.) can be linked and centralized with the 'People' program...no duplicates and more info per contact.
I would like to export the consolidated contact data to Outlook.
I tried viewing all contact sources in 'People', exporting to the SD, and importing to Outlook (shot in the dark). Strangely, it only exported 1 contact from the 'Phone' source. Not the error I was expecting.
In other words, I would like Outlook to mirror the consolidated contact data in 'People'.
New update to ver. 3.0.5481 has just been installed. Issues include...
1) duplicate events in calendar
2) wrong dates for events
3) no sync after initial sync
I have reverted back to a working older version.
Is there an alternative app for the stock home screen clock+weather widget? I just dont like the stock one and has not been able to find one which will give both time and weather..
Thanks...
I just checked tonight, and the Aria is mysteriously missing from the HTC site. Are there plans to stop production? It's still available on the AT&T site.

I've checked the forum and found a couple threads related to my question but they all seem to end without a definitive answer, so here goes.....
I'm looking for a checkbook register app that can be installed on 2 Android phones and will sync with one another. Example: My wife makes a purchase and records it in the application.....I am then able to open the app on my device and view the purchase she just recorded and vice versa. As I stated above, I have checked multiple recommendations from other threads, (e.g., cashflow, firewallet, financisto, etc...), but none of them are clear as to whether or not they sync between multiple devices.
I got my DHD today and it's great. This is my first smartphone too. I am trying to install my first app but i have to use htc sync. The software provided is for windows but I use mac.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't install the Sync software to my pc. I keep getting this error "The Generic Device Manager Executable has encountered an error and install cannot continue.
I have tried to un-install and reinstall several times and even downloaded from HTC support and same thing happens, so I am assuming it has something to do with my pc.
The pc has reconized the phone and actually the HTC window pops up but I can't click on the Syncronize Now or on the HTC Sync, and on the right side bottom of that window it shows phone as disconnected.
I am running Window XP and don't know if this matters, but I am also running IE 8.
I installed an app through HTC Sync Application Install.
How do I go about removing it? It's not in "my downloads" in the market. I guess because I didn't download it through the market. any ideas?

View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a couple of apps working using eclipse and the emulator. I now want to try the apps on my htc aria. I went through downloading the usb driver as the Android Developers documentations sans and a usb driver folder now shows up in my sdk folder. However, apparently there isn't a driver for the HTC aria in the folder.
After research some people suggested using htc sync. I donwloaded htc sync and let windows check that I had the latest version. However, my phone keeps saying that it can't find htc sync on my computer.
When I plug in my HTC aria, the device manager on my lap top recognizes two devices as listed below: My HTc under Android USB devices and a HTC Android Phone USB Device. I clicked on update driver for both devices, Windows found them on-line and verified that they were the latest. I dont understand why there are two drivers, but My HT seems to have a problem as listed below. One thing that I should mention is that I am using the dreaded VISTA.
Device Manager: Android USB Devices: My HTC Device status: Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37) Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.
Description: Windows was able to successfully install device driver software, but the driver software encountered a problem when it tried to run. The problem code is 37.
Problem signature: Problem Event Name:
CODE:.................
HTC Android Phone USB Device
Device Status: This device is working normally. Driver Provider: Microsoft Driver Date: 6/21/2006
So, the best I can tell is that there isn't a driver from the normal Android repository for the htc aria yet. And, for some reason my computer can't handle the htc sync drivers.
Will there be a usb driver for the htc aria that I can download from Android Developers in the future? Has anyone else been able to get htc sync to work with the htc aria? Is there anohter way to transfer my apps to the phone for development?
I guess that I can always use the ddms environment and transfer the app, but I really wanted a more graceful way to do this.
There's a new Android update posted on the HTC Support site for the Aria. Here's the description:
HTC Sync Update for HTC Aria (AT&T) (3.0.5372) | 07.09.2010
HTC Sync lets you synchronize Outlook and Windows Address Book (Outlook Express), contacts and calendar events on your PC with your phone. It also lets you install third-party Android applications on the phone, and the Mobile Network sharing function as well.
So as the title says I am deciding between the HTC Aria and the Captivate. I would be sold on the Captivate but the issue that everyone seems to be having is the phone shutting itself off. Is this like a really widespread issue or is it just a normal issue with some of the phones. If the chances are high of me getting a phone with that issue I might lean towards the Aria. I like the way both phones are but I dont want to get the Cap if there's a good chance of me getting one with that issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an unlocked HTC Aria. Since I do not have the unlock code myself, if the phone were to lock again I'd be SOL. I intend to update the phone to android 2.2, and am concerned that the phone will relock once updated. The phone is the Asian model and is running software similar to the North American with some slight differences. Will it be possible for for me to update to the North American Froyo and make things more 'American' for myself? Has anyone had an experience updating an unlocked phone's firmware? What was the result?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy HTC aria shows up when I run adb devices. It even shows the correct serial number. However, I can't find it as a target in eclipse. I am clicking on Run/Run Configurations. It brings up my project and a "target" tab. The emulator is the only thing listed, not my HTC aria.
Is there another step in setup that I have to do?
My HTC Ara Android system seems to be running high. It is at 50%, and it rises. I turned off the sync, wifi, etc. I dont have any wedgits running, and no downloaded items. Is there anyway I can lower it? It seems to be eating away my battery. The cell stand by is pretty high too.
