HTC Aria :: How To Sync People App Mutiple Acc With Outlook
Jun 25, 2010
I'm new to the Android platform and recently received my Aria (coming from a BB Curve). I am impressed on how contact data from multiple sources (facebook, google, outlook, etc.) can be linked and centralized with the 'People' program...no duplicates and more info per contact.
I would like to export the consolidated contact data to Outlook.
I tried viewing all contact sources in 'People', exporting to the SD, and importing to Outlook (shot in the dark). Strangely, it only exported 1 contact from the 'Phone' source. Not the error I was expecting.
In other words, I would like Outlook to mirror the consolidated contact data in 'People'.

would you use outlook to sync your contacts and calendar? i never really liked this program, but if i must, i can... and also, when i synced contacts, i only received 8, and i have a lot more than that... is it just pulling it only from the phone or the sim card? why is it not moving all of them?

I finally got my work email sync'd on my Android phone (Outlook). However, all my annoying meetings from work are now popping up as "notifications" in my phone's status bar. I can't stand corporate meetings, which are a colossal waster of time, and i don't want to be reminded of all the meetings on my work schedule. I was able to successfully turn of the Outlook mail notifications on my phone (and I still get Gmail notifications, since they are two separate email systems, which is exactly what I want). How do I turn my "Outlook calendar reminders," but still be reminded of my Google Calendar reminders, which is my personal, and far more important, calendar?

I have been trying to figure this out and can't. I have all my contacts set up under people. But, when I tap "phone" I get all those people PLUS everyone on my dang facebook. I didn't set it up like that so I'm assuming it has to do with either friendstream or facebook syncing. I don't necessarily want ALL those people in my contacts. Is there a way to change that?

Hello, I need to put several listviews inner a LinearLayout. The Listviews should be wrap content to adapt the listview to their items. I need have one only scroll with which I can scroll all the listviews. I know that i can't use a scrollview because the listviews have their own scroll (but i don't need the scrolls of the listviews because i have them in wrap-content). I thought maybe puting the listviews inside the LinearLayout I will hadn't problems with the scrollview, but it didn't work, the LinearLayout was fixed to the screen, the scrollview didn't appear and the listviews ended scrollable. Without the scrollview if i have the list in wrap-content, their shown properly but i haven't any scroll and i can't see the lisviews below the screen. Really i have had this bug for one month and i haven't found any solution,
My code:
CODE:............
JAVA
CODE:...............
How you can see i create the lisviews dinamically and i put indside the layout with a secttion header. if you have some doubt ask me I need find a solution soon.

I am writing an application where I have to parse multiple xml files as a response from a server. Till now, I have written different xml parser classes for each xml depepending on the tags present in different xmls ?
Can I combine all xml parser classes and write a single xml parser that handles all different tags in different xmls ? Will it work ? Will combining xml parser classes add an overhead because xml parser will check for every tag irrespective of whether that is part of file or not ?

I have an Eris that's a POS, at least as far as syncing to Outlook for my work calendar but especially emails. The Verizon store is willing to get me an Incredible and was wondering how well it plays with Outlook (specifically receiving/sending emails),through a Pop3 server?

Is there an app that directly sync the Samsung Fascination with the Outlook client WITHOUT having to go through the crappy Google calendar? I currently use the Google supplied sync app and it is a piece of crap. I does not resolve conflicts. It does not delete entries that I have deleted oin Outlook. It does not transfer appointments that were created by others that I have accepted. I never had a problem with my old Win Mobile phone and Active sync. I cannot connect to our Exchange server for updates so I must sync directly with my local client. I am getting so sick of companies telling me how I should be doing stuff. First Verizon with all the bloatware you cannot remove and now this. I was told I could sync just like my old phone. Using XP with Office 2007

I know this has been discussed all over the internet but I'm a computer "user" only and don't particularly understand a lot of the computer terminology in these discussions. I would like some very simple straight forward answers in lay person language. I work in a company that uses Microsoft exchange and outlook. I currently have a blackberry that syncs everything wireless and seamlessly (ie., contacts, emails, tasks, calendars, notes). I would like to get a new Verizon Indredible but company does not and won't enable active sync (whatever that is). My question is is there a program that I can install directly onto my office PC myself that will "push" or otherwise wirelessly sync all of my outlook information that is currently synced on my Blackberry? Pardon my ignorance.

I am looking for a way to keep my contacts and calendar from GMail in sync with Outlook. What is the best way to do this? I used the Google Calendar Sync in the past, but I didn't like it. As for the contacts, I am wanting to keep EVERYTHING synced with Google, such as contact photo, notes, ect. I do use more than one calendar on Google. I am not sure if that would make a difference or not. Is the best thing to do set up my own Exchange/Activesync server? Or is there an app that will do just this?

I'm using HTC Sync to sync my Outlook contacts to my Hero... The contacts sync as expected but everytime I perform the sync the time on my Hero is set 30mins forward which would correspond with the time in the eastern states of Australia. I've checked the timezones on my PC & Hero and they are set correctly. I've scoured the net for fixes but haven't found a fix for this annoying issue. I did discover that in a previous version of HTC Sync you could set the timezone within HTC Sync during the installation if it detected a mismatch, but I wasn't presented with the option to set it to get it's time from the PC...

I just bought my first Android (Acer Liquid) and there are a few apps which I think I can uninstall ....
a) Messaging - I use handcent SMS now not the default app.
b) Acer Sync - Does this just sync with Outlook? I don't use Outlook or need to sync any windows files.
c) Default Browser - I now use Dolphin so the default browser.
d) Email - I just use Gmail.
e) Gmail - I think accessing Gmail via a browser is now Google's best supported method.
f) Gmail Storage - as above.
g) Nemoplayer - I use TuneWiki.
h) RoadSync - I do not use Outlook. This sounds the same as AcerSync.
i) Sync Feeds - Not sure what this does.

Is there a way to sync my outlook and exchange data as the same appointments and info on my phone? For example: When I was on winmo, my Exchange appointment and outlook appointment would update each other not create a duplicate. Now that I've synced my PC, I have the same appointment twice on my phone. Green for Exchange and Orange for Outlook. Is there anyway to keep the data the same? In other words, if I have a 5pm meeting on exchange, and I sync with outlook, I want both sources to update the same appointment. Not create another 5pm meeting.

I had been recommended Active Sync to sync with Outlook but now i find that it's for syncing with Outlook Exchange. (i'm using plain vanilla Outlook, no Exchange). i happen to run all email via a gmail account for backup, spam filtering, emergencies when I don't have my laptop) so syncing email is not an issue.

I am using HTC Sync to sync my Outlook contacts and my Incredible. I noticed that some of my contacts weren't making it to my contact list on my phone, but they were on my PC. It was very random. Some were there, but some weren't. I was trying to fix it just now and somehow deleted 52 contacts from my PC!I guess when it sync'd this time, it used the contact list on the phone as the primary and since those 52 contacts weren't on the phone...it just deleted them from my Outlook. Very frustrating because I don't know which ones were deleted.

I had a 3GS iPhone for a short while and while the device was nice, I didnt like it that much. For one I hate iTunes and did not like the lack of customization. Also, I use Windows Vista and the integration with Outlook 2007 was a pain. I am very intersted in WM devices and Android. What is going to be the best for me considereing the above? Do Android and WM sync with Outlook the same and better than the iPhone?

1. Can anyone comment on the relative differences (or strengths/weaknesses) between using "HTC Sync" versus "Companionlink" -- for bi-directional syncing between Outlook 2007 on a PC -- and Android 2.1?
2. I don't use GMail and I plan to use using a POP3 profile to access my webmail account. Will using either "HTC Sync" or "Companionlink" to sync my contacts -- allow me full access to the multiple email addresses I have stored in my PC's Outlook 2007 account -- for each of my contacts? Or do either of those applications only "capture" one email address data field?
3. Is it possible to compose and send an email in Android's POP3 client -- without necessarily Receiving (downloading) all email that happens to be in that POP3 host's Inbox? I can do this in Outlook -- just not sure about Android.
4. When using a Blackberry and IMAP -- you can specify that you only want the email headers downloaded to the mobile device -- not the entire email. Is this function (headers only) available on Android?
5. I'm assuming it is possible to setup multiple email profiles on Android -- and I am assuming that one can setup an IMAP profile AND a POP3 profile. But, is it possible to setup an IMAP profile for one webmail account (non-Gmail) -- download and read an email from that IMAP account -- but then reply to that email by selecting the POP3 profile that uses an alternate webmail account?
