I can't seem to sync my Captivate with my comp. I downloaded Kies and upgraded the firmware and it's still stuck at "Connecting the device" stage. Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong? Thanks

I have a samsung captivate from at&t and cannot get it to connect to my computer. Apparently I need some drivers and do not know where to fing them.

1)select mass storage
2)scroll the top menu down and select mount USB
3)press mount
How Do I Sync Captivate "Memo" to MS Outlook 2007 "Notes"? Is there an app? Can I just do it through Google (have already sync'd mail and calendar; contacts are sync'd via export/import)?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I plug my phone into the computer and mount it, I get "F" and "G" drive showing up. When I click on "F" the folders that show up are "DCIM" "download" and "sounds" if I click on "DCIM" inside there I get "camera" and "music". I believe that's the SD card because when I open "DCIM" then into "Camera" I see all of the pictures and video that Ive taken.
One problem I had today was I tried to add a couple of pictures directly into the "camera" folder, from my computer, I see them in there, close everything down, unplug the phone, open up gallery and those pics just refuse to show up?? . .(I'm pretty sure its not a size issue they were relatively small files) Next is the "G" drive. I click on that and see "albumthumbs" "android" "bluetooth" "DCIM" "download" "music" "sd" (which shows up as a hidden folder) "sounds" and "where". When I click on the "DCIM" folder in this drive I get ".thumbnails" and "camera" Inside the "thumbnail" folder I see a mixture of some pictures I've taken and any pictures I've saved from text or email.
I have no idea if this is the way the phone should show up when I plug it in. the two trees of folders seem very confusing. when you plug your captivate in that has an SD card, how should it look when you hit "my computer" If you could give me a scenario of the "folder" tree, or trees. that would be cool.
Is there anyway to root my captivate without using a computer? froyo.uckb1 kernal2.6.32.9

I am however having trouble comprehending how google syncs my contacts. I have my contacts set up exactly how i want them on my google account online i.e. co workers freinds family grouping. I would like my phone to display the contacts in the same fashion, but it seems the google sync is only one way from my phone to my account and not the other way around.
How can i get my contacts to sync from my google account so that they show up as i have them set up online without having to do every individual one on the phone.
When I plug in my phone through USB it wont show up on my computer. Whats going on?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi just got my second captivate, the first would never connect to my computer the second one (the one i have right now) connects to my laptop but my computer wont recognize the device, bottom line is that i cant connect it to my computer. I have tried so many things like: "mount and unmount" the SD card and the internal memory, also i have tried the USB debugging, i hava also tried the kies option on the phone, and nothing.. i have all the Samsung USB Drivers (version V.1.3.450.0) i have downloaded the kies program and the kies mini and they haven't work... what am i missing??? can anyone help me? (my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A135-4527 with windows vista)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was running the JI6 2.2 with cognition beta5.5 and was attempting to update however I needed to swap kernels since the current kernel didn't verify signatures. I was using vmware on a mac and i started it but then continued to use the mac side however the computer disconnected the phone from the windows side and now it is stuck showing an image of a phone next to a computer with a triangle with a ! in it between the two. Pressing all hardware buttons does nothing but black the screen and go back to the same screen. I've taken out the battery, sim, unplugged the cord, everything. Can't get back into download mode to redo the kernal swap. It's definitely connected to a valid, and working, usb port and i am now on windows itself instead of vmware. What do I do?

And my second question, my phone doesnt connect to my computer right. I plugged it in, it said it didnt have the right software or something, so i went and downloaded the the Vista 64 bit thing thats stickied on here. I plug it in, and the "you have the wrong software" thing was gone, but nothing else happpened. The screen says its connected and it vibrates and i hear the noise thru the computer, so what am i doing wrong. I read somewhere that you pull down the little bar at the top and hit dock or something like that. I cant do that. If i can pull it down theres no buttons to hit. Can someone walk me thru this process? FIXED
I am having an issue with my M3U playlists.
I use the default Samsung media player, Isyncr and Itunes. Although I have also used the Doubletwist Player (not the desktop software) and had the same issue, I just prefer the Samsung default player mainly because of the lock screen app.
Here is the issue.
First, I sync my playlists with Itunes using Isyncr, all of the songs come over great, art and tags, everything is perfect. It also creates M3U playlists on my phone. I double checked that everything is there.
Then when I unmount, media scanner scans my SD card (which takes way longer than it should) and it deletes all of my playlists. Now a little research on XDA forums tells me that this is because anytime the media scanner scans a playlist and can't find all of the songs from that playlist, it assumes it is an old playlist and deletes it. The problem is that when I look through the M3U files, every song referenced in the list is on the card...they are all there, yet it keeps deleting them.
Does anyone know of a solution to make it stop deleting my playlists?
Anyone notice that facebook notifications, just flat out doesnt work on this phone. i've tested an Aria, Incredible, and Evo, and it works on all of those. i've got notifications turned on and everything, and facebook is excluded from ATK but i never get any updates.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo it's my understanding that I'm supposed to be able to sync with Facebook and it will pull profile pics into my contacts as well as profile links. Is this correct? If so, I can't get it to work. I had installed the FB app and had the issue with it creating multiple profile links in contacts that would all take me to my page. After reading here I deleted it and just synced with SNS settings. Now I have nothing. No FB links, no pics, nothing. How can I get this to work?

It is checked to sync and shows the sync (circle with arrows) symbol but it never syncs. In contrast, my GMAIL is having no problems syncing...only the calendar. My wife and I share our gmail account to keep calendar's in sync and it happens on her phone too.
