Not looking forward to going back to 2.1 and then 2.2 just for language support.
One of the task of we are working on is to enable the Android Contact sorting by stroke for LOCALE zh_TW. It's very easy to enable the contact sorting by Pinyin for zh_CN, but when I take the same method to enable sorting stroke for zh_TW, the sorting result is either sorted by UNICODDE or PinYin. It's very strange. I have investigated the related code located in android_pkgs/external/icu4c/xxx and tried many options but failed to find a wayout. Is there anybody familiar with icu4c or have ever done some work on this topic? Here I'd like to append the steps (mainly on the location android_pkgs/external/icu4c/) I did as reference:
a. append zh_TW into product locales;
b. append the zh_TW support into icu4c/stubdata/Android.mk
c. taking the cfg-us as example, create a folder cfg-us-zh and append zh_xx related 'zh_xxx.res' files;
d. ./helper.sh us-zh will generate a updated icudt38l-us-zh.dat;
e. recompile Android to launch emulator -EOM-
Just updated both EVO's to Froyo and I'm aghast. I still can't sort contacts Lastname, Firstname. This is such basic functionality that is missing from this phone.
View 17 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to have your contacts sorted by last name instead of first?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone figured out how to sort the Contacts by Last Name first? They default at sorting by First Name first, but I cannot figure out how to change it. I did make the change in Googles Contact list, but it did not carry over to the X10. Is this another 2.1 fix by chance?
View 3 Replies View RelatedCan you change the way the contact list is sorted? I have a lot of companies in my list with no contact name and they currently list by the phone number or email address instead of by company name. Sorting by last name first would be nice too!

View 2 Replies View RelatedDo any of you know of an MSN app that links MSN contacts' statuses to your Contacts list? I like how you can see Google Talk status on your contact list, so it'd be cool if you could see MSN contacts' statuses like that, too.

HIGHMEM support for RAM >256MB
Does that mean 256 meg of the memory currently in the HTC Incredible is unaccessible? IE we really currently only have 256meg not (512-DeviceSpace) on the Incredible or what does that mean? Is the upper side of the memory completely taken up by the device peripherals at this point? (Assuming this works as a normal kernel layout where the devices take the high address space).
I wanted to know if Android 2.2 (Froyo) supports Bluetooth V3 .

View 2 Replies View RelatedI Really miss the old launcher, and status bar from the original Android, you know "silver" with the gradient white statusbar and white look.
Is there anyway to change my statusbar to be silver, and old silver launcher? (1.0 - 2.2) I am really sick of the new Jellybean look and want to revert back!
I currently have one of the Froyo ROMs installed. What file or files do I need to change out so I can have a different battery icon in the status bar?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had read that the froyo update helped battery life. Granted I have only had the phone 3 days, I am not noticing great battery life. I have everything shut off that I should, and I have done a factory reset right after the froyo update.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to see a contact's full status message? It gets cut off and I cant figure out how to read the whole thing.

Perhaps a good sign, even without specific dates, etc?
one of the key things for me on the upgrade was the exchange support, and after using it all yesterday as of this morning I'm getting a 'security error' which has stopped the mail connected. Ive reinstalled and its died completely Is anyone else using the mail app with exchange with a self signed cert?

I Hate You Froyo 2.2
Just wondering if anyone can confirm this or not. I have been reading that Verizon / Motorola have pulled Froyo 2.2 all together. When you go to Motorola's support page for 2.2 Android software you get an error page that says permission denied. Not sure whether to manually update to FRG22 or wait until the OTA update comes out if ever.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAs it may be a little while before Froyo is available for the Incredible I wonder if it might be possible to port Froyo's browser with flash support to Android 2.1. Ah the things you dream up when stuck at work doing data entry all day.

Can anyone tell me how to change the Language & Keyboard start-up settings?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Android development and have just started playing with the SDK.
One thing that is annoying is that the emulator always start with Japanese settings. I have found out how to fix this by going into settings and remove all the Japanese stuff, but this is time consuming since I have to do it every time I start the emulator.
Can someone help me change the startup settings for the emulator?
I was wondering if there was a way to add Japanese as an language input for the Android keyboard? By default, there is no option to add Japanese as a llanguage input, and all other keyboards that have it are either ugly, don't have ICS as an optional theme or just too much, I prefer the stock Android keyboard on ICS over anything else and I'm sure there are some of you that agree. It would be nice to have this and other possible languages as optional languages on this keyboard.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUpdated my X10 abou 3days ago to Android 2.1 and ever since I can not display the Japanes keyboard. I have set location as Japanese but the standard keyboard option does not give me Japanese option for input language. I can read and browse Japanse without problem but when I create message, or simply reply e-mails /Text, I can not input any Japansese. It was working find before the update. Does anybody have a clue??
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently the keyboard I used to use, GO Keyboard, added notification adds for porn apps in their latest update. It was a great keyboard; fast, accurate, and had a one-touch switch to go to Japanese text entry.
I am so indignant about their bait-and-switch BS though that I refuse to use any apps by that company any more. I tried the trial of smart keyboard but I don't like how it misses letters when typing fast.
