View 1 RepliesWent to send a text this morning from Handcent and noticed that my keyboard had changed a bit. The enter key and the key the farthest on the bottom left both have Japanese characters on them. Also, the key to add a question mark/exclamation mark is not on the board now. I thought it might just be Handcent, so I tried the stock messaging program and the keyboard has the same problem!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought Xperia X2 in Malaysia last month. I'm having problems to view Chinese and Japanese characters for SMS, e-mail or websites. I really need to type Chinese and Japanese and found that there's no such input method. However, I can view my SMS and mails in other languages through side panels. Is this a big mistake?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAny idea how to add it back? I'm not taking about IME. All the foreign text shows up a blocks.
Not looking forward to going back to 2.1 and then 2.2 just for language support.
How do can have in my string.xml, characters Chinese or Korean. Is it possible?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a statement like:
System.out.println("My simplified Chinese characters: 好");
However in the LogCat (Eclipse Plugin) the Chinese characters appear as some junk chars:
05-11 22:14:11.182: INFO/System.out(31582): My simplified Chinese characters: Ã¥¥½Ã¥Æ’
First, I thought it was a LogCat font issue but I tried a whole bunch of Chinese fonts and all gave the same result.
The Chinese characters display fine in my Java source code (UTF-8 encoded).
Also the chars appear fine in the Emulator. Any thoughts?
I've written this small app, nothing special it just contains an edittextview control and the strange thing is that when I type text on this textbox it converts English characters into Chinese (or Japanese, I can't tell) characters.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo, for a lark, I downloaded the Google Pinyin IME, which allows me to enter Chinese characters on my Droid X. It works handily. But when I put the characters in an SMS using hand-cent, it never arrives at its destination. It's not that it arrives as gibberish, it just doesn't arrive. My friend, in a trouble shooting attempt, installed it on his Droid Incredible, also using hand-cent. I receive his SMS's with the Chinese characters in them perfectly fine, but he never receives mine. When I use my goggle voice account to send myself an SMS with Chinese characters in it, it arrives as little squares. Is this a Verizon problem, a hand cent problem, or something else entirely.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a text file which contains many Chinese characters, and the text file is in the directory res/raw/test.text. I want to read the file but somehow i can't make the Chinese characters display correctly. Here is my code...

I have two text file, both of them contains Chinese characters, one text file is saved using ANSI encoding, but this file's Chinese characters can not be displayed by htmlviewer on the phone. The Chinese characters in another txt file saved using unicode can be displayed ok by htmlviewer. Do you have any suggestions on this, does Chinese characters using ANSI encoding supported?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was a way to add Japanese as an language input for the Android keyboard? By default, there is no option to add Japanese as a llanguage input, and all other keyboards that have it are either ugly, don't have ICS as an optional theme or just too much, I prefer the stock Android keyboard on ICS over anything else and I'm sure there are some of you that agree. It would be nice to have this and other possible languages as optional languages on this keyboard.

View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently the keyboard I used to use, GO Keyboard, added notification adds for porn apps in their latest update. It was a great keyboard; fast, accurate, and had a one-touch switch to go to Japanese text entry.
I am so indignant about their bait-and-switch BS though that I refuse to use any apps by that company any more. I tried the trial of smart keyboard but I don't like how it misses letters when typing fast.

I removed Chinese and Korean keyboards, but I can't find the entry for the Japanese one.
Any one know what it's called? or is it system integrated?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow to remove the Thai/Chinese keyboard button
I've just got an HTC Legend - I have no need for Thai or Chinese keyboard options, but there they are, and I can't find a way to remove them and make the the buttons larger.. Any ideas?
I have to implement a simple custom soft-keyboard in my application and I want to show accented characters on the keyboard too.
These are: Ã, é, á, ű, ú, Å‘, ó, ü, ö
My question is how to map these in the keyboard xml? What are the key codes for these? I could not found them in the official KeyEvent document.
My current keyboard definition xml looks like this:
Code:
<Keyboard xmlns:android=""
android:keyWidth="10%p"
android:horizontalGap="0px"
android:verticalGap="0px"

Lately I've been feeling like I'm typing too fast for my keyboard and I'm missing characters all the time. I'm wondering if the keyboard I'm using is the issue or is it just the way the Evo is. I'm using the keyboard that comes with Warm 2.2. Is there a setting I can change that would allow me to type faster (like, is this a software problem) or is this simply a limitation on the Evo's on screen kb?

How can I change my options so that I only have English keyboards?
For instance when i type in the word "me" but when it auto corrects the e has a downward carrot above it. and it does this for many many words. language is in english, so not sure what it could be. i use for now the htc keyboard.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen writing using the keyboard I can not seem to find the way to insert special characters none are available when I click symbol key.
My dictionary is in spanish, but the phone main language is set to english; is this the problem?
If so, it should not be. Messaging should use dictionary and not phone language.
also, is there really a need for limiting character counts when using special characters? (YuS it needs more info, but doesn't the Standard for character representation take care of this)
I'm using a Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7105
I used to use the Samsung Keyboard with English and the Chinese language input (downloaded in it's language settings).
But after a hard rest (My phone had recently updated itself to 4.3 with no change) I no longer have Chinese as a downloadable language.
WHY is this so annoying... Becuase if I use another keyboard that has chinese I can't swap between it and the Samsung Keyboard in Keyboard. The Samsung has to be selects in the phone setting and can't be selected as one of many keyboards.
The reason why I wish to use the Samsung keyboard is becuase of its great swipe input function. I have not found another keyboard that has swipe in English and Chinese input funtionality.
Which means I can never using any combo of keyboards swap easily from chinese to swipe english keyboard.
I think It has something to do with the locale version of the 4.3 android os. I heard that different locales have different downloadable language options. But why has mine sudenly changed!
i was trying to reply to my friend in chinese but was not able to change to chinese input. How do I do it?
