Is it possible to download the Android SDK components for offline install without using the SDK Manager? The problem is I am behind a firewall which I have no control over and both sites download URLs seem to be blocked (throws a connection refused exception)

View 1 Replies View RelatedDuring the installation of my Android SDK, I am getting stuck during the process where the manager goes out and downloads all the revisions of the APIs and the SDKs.
It is potentially due to a socket issue that typically occurs when a database query is called and there are a large number of TCP connections... according to googling my error (No buffer space available (maximum connections reached?): recv failed )...
So I just need to know if there is a way, other then using the Android download manager, to download / update my computer with the following Android SDK components:

When I bought my Nexus One, I took the card out of my G1 and put it in my N1. I've developed an app and I know how it works on the Nexus but I want to test it on my G1. I wanted to see how my app looks on a G1 so I connected it to my computer and put my .apk file into the downloads folder on my G1's SD- Card. Ok, now my app is on my OFFLINE G1 but how do I install it? Can I install it with only the native apps on my G1? Right now, I don't see anyway to view the file. I know I can take the chip out of my N1 and put it back into my G1 and then simply download and install it but I would rather not do that.

I've done plenty of research but alas I still can't deteremine whether Google Listener has the capability to download podcasts for you to listen to them at a later time, specifically (in my case) when without an internet connection.It works fine if you have a connection - you can listen to any episode of a subscribed podcast, and all is well - I can't falt it on this side of things.But I want to be able to subscribe and have Listener download episodes in the background when wi-fi is available so that I can then listen to them at my leisure - most often when wi-fi is not avilable (i.e. at work )The 'Download Settings' imply this is the case. I've selected the 'Download new audio' and 'Only on Wi-fi', which (to me) imply Listener should download and queue all new episodes whenever a wi-fi connection is available (but never via mobile data connection). But nothing downloads at all. All I seem to be able to do is to listen to an episode so long as I have wi-fi connection. I can;t listen to anything offline.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am from Greece. i am sailor so i bought from Italy a LG optimus L9 P760 v20B (with "TIM" software as i can image from those TIM aps inside). It doesn't have greek language so after a fail contaction with LG, i tried to search in xda to find a solution. The only solution is the OFFLINE METHOD but i followed every step one by one but i didnt make anything.... Not possible to install the greek kdz file with offline method. After doing those steps, after step "9" when im clossing the small box, there is no step 10 for me. Actually i never saw a step 10 in any of mine pc. I feel that something is going on in the small server.
Do i need to have internet to do the offline method??
I need 2 things only
1) Greek language
2) To root the phone so i can delete those TIM's apps which are full unusable for my GREEK probider ( and i cannot understand italian...)
I've been trying to update my phone now for nearly two weeks, trying various options, yet nothing I do helps in any way.I started off just running the update from SEUS with my phone as i've been using it.the updater started, gets about 70% through "Preparing" and pops up an error "Unable to install or start software update components." Closing which pops up "try again" or come to this site.I then tried uninstalling all installed components, same result as above.I then tried a Master Reset to factory setting, same result as above.I then disable the Firewall and the Anti-Virus, same result as above.Basically, i'm at the end of my tether, this should not be this difficult, I should not have to jump through this amount of hoops.If there was a way to legitimately root the phone (keeping warranty), I could already have Froyo installed, instead of this irritating mess thats causing me nothing but headaches.

Now I get hundreds of reports that the paid version won't download/install, but there's no problem with the free version of the app. The message typically reported is "download unsuccessful". Some users uninstalled the app and then tried to download the app and are now left without a working copy. Of course, most assume this is a programming error by me and it affects my rating.

View 7 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else experiencing problems? I'm on a HTC Desire running 2.2 stock Froyo. The only modification I've made is to manually force apps to the SD card. Since Market 2.12 was released I can download but not install anything. I can't update either, it'll download but then immediately bring up an Installation Failed notification.
I have been advised to clear the Market cache and to uninstall the new update but by the time I reload the Market after uninstalling the update, I'm back on 2.12 as it updates automatically.
Has anyone else experiencing similar problems?
Any idea if there's a fix or do I have to wait for Google to sort it out?
Is there anywhere I can report this to Google?
When I use customized components in XML, could I use a short name of component instead of a fully qualified class name? I wonder if some configuration file exists to do that work.
For example, my customized components is ex.object.RoundRect,
I should use it in xml file like this: <ex.object.RoundRect android:id="@+id/mainRoundRect01" ... />
But
I want to use it like this: <RoundRect android:id="@+id/mainRoundRect01" ... />
Is it possible? Is there a configuration file that can map the fully qualified class name to a short name?
I am a newbie to android development and looking for developing rich UI based applications. But the tools like Droid Draw only support primitive UI elements. How do I bring in a better UI? Any sample or references or books would help.

Quick rundown:
I want to compute from a 3 axis accelerometer the gravity component on each of these 3 axes.
I have used 2 axes free body diagrams to work out the accelerometer's gravity component in the world X-Z, Y-Z and X-Y axes. But the solution seems slightly off, it's acceptable for extreme cases when only 1 accelerometer axis is exposed to gravity, but for a pitch and roll of both 45 degrees, the combined total magnitude is greater than gravity (obtained by Xa^2+Ya^2+Za^2=g^2; Xa, Ya and Za are accelerometer readings in its X, Y and Z axis).
More detail:
The device is a Nexus One, and have a magnetic field sensor for azimuth, pitch and roll in addition to the 3-axis accelerometer.In the world's axis (with Z in the same direction as gravity, and either X or Y points to the north pole, don't think this matters much?), I assumed my device has a pitch (P) on the Y-Z axis, and a roll (R) on the X-Z axis. With that I used simple trig to get:
Sin(R)=Ax/Gxz
Cos(R)=Az/Gxz
Tan(R)=Ax/Az
There is another set for pitch, P.Now I defined gravity to have 3 components in the world's axis, a Gxz that is measurable only in the X-Z axis, a Gyz for Y-Z, and a Gxy for X-Y axis.Gxz^2+Gyz^2+Gxy^2=2*G^2 the 2G is because gravity is effectively included twice in this definition. Oh and the X-Y axis produce something more exotic I'll explain if required later.From these equations I obtained a formula for Az, and removed the tan operations because I don't know how to handle tan90 calculations (it's infinity?).So my question is, anyone know whether I did this right/wrong or able to point me to the right direction?
I'm trying to run the "HelloTriangle" example, from The OpenGL ES 2.0 Programming Guide, in the Android emulator.I import egl.EGLConfig and opengles.GL10 from javax.microedition.khronos, but the ESContext type and definitions such as GL_COMPILE_STATUS and GL_FRAGMENT_SHADER can't be resolved.I reworked the triangle example somewhat for Android in that I'm using GLSurfaceView. I undertand that it is supposed to be used instead of OpenGLContext in the newer versions of the SDK.Am I using a "non-Android" approach to OpenGL ES? If so, what's the right one?
