Currently using the above phone. Have activited wireless on my phone and internet is working fine. Tried to install appbrain on my phone - AppBrain - the best Android apps and games on the Android market. everytime I try to install it says "starting download" but nothing further happens.

I recently read that AppBrain updated their app to v5.0 but that the Fast Web Installer that pushing apps to your phone from Appbrain.com WITHOUT having to go through the Market is broken with the v5.0 update because of changes with the Market's recent update.

QUESTION: does the Fast Web Install still work with earlier versions of AppBrain?? I have kept v4.8 installed on my phone but I'm having a problem with the Fast Web Install. I'm not sure if I'm experiencing a temporary issue or if the Market update is affecting ALL versions of the Appbrain fast web push?
I'm trying to install the latest maps update and it seems stuck on "starting download". It's gone on way beyond the time needed for the previous download/upgrade.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI installed an app yesterday, (appbrain web downloader) but couldn't get appbrain app to download, so I uninstalled the appbrain web app. Today I tried to update a couple apps, and niether would update- either I got a message that said download paused, with no way to re start, our it would just show it as downloading, but not making any progress. I tried to install another app off the market, just to see, and out wouldn't install either....
Tried-
Clearing market updater
Rebooting phone
Removing battery and re starting phone
going to titanium backup and wiping market data
Right, my problem is that the orange home screen is starting itself up. I'm not selecting it and its not my default one so it shouldn't be being used. Looking at Task manager it looks like it's self launching. How can I prevent this? I wouldn't really bother if it was just this but it launches 9 other apps along with it which are using up my data allowance and battery. It's really annoying and only just started happening out of the blue with out any new apps being installed or changed. Task manager is shutting it down when the screen turns off but it just relaunches itself every time and I'm sick of my battery being eaten.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'd like to put Appbrain on my Compaq Airlife 100, but I think their website thinks my Airlife is not an Android device as the page which I think is supposed to have the link on it says something like "Navigate here on your Android device", but of course, the Airlife *is* and Android device.
Anyway, anyone know where I can just download the APK file? There is no Marketplace on the Airlife, so I can't get it there.
It's a free application, so I'm not sure why it's so difficult to come by. I managed to get an old APK (version 2), but it crashed all the time, I'd like to try 3.2.1 and see if the issues are resolved.
Can someone please provide a link to the latest appbrain apk... I am not able to download it from the market and all links I found on Google were outdated versions of appbrain.

I've been trying to update Dante via both Appbrain and Market but they seem to be stuck on the download process. It's been trying for at least a week but no go. I've tried cancelling download multiple times to start again which immediately leads to a FC on com.android.vending. I uninstalled Dante on my phone hoping it would clear it out but no. I tried uninstalling Appbrain for the same reason, still no. Cleared caches on both Appbrain and Market no change. Shut down phone and did a battery pull same result. I'm out of ideas at this point any one else have anything? btw, I can download, update, and install everything else i've tried so other than dante all seems well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I just did a factory reset and made sure I backed everything up, etc. One of the first things I did was install AppBrain so I could reinstall all of my apps.
When I open AppBrain on my phone, none of my apps show up to install. I keep hitting sync and it doesn't bring up anything. I logged into my AppBrain account on their website and all of my apps show up and next to all of them it says "Cancel install".
Is there any way I can install all of the apps from the website? I would hate to have to download and install each app separately.
I am trying to get my apps back after I got a replacement DX. I installed all of my apps with appbrain. I thought I could just re-sign in and hit sync, but it's not working. How do I re install my apps from appbrain?
View 23 Replies View RelatedI was having apps hang on download from the appbrain market app. This was during an appbrain update. So I uninstalled appbrain. The downloads pending went through, but the appbrain update is now hanging in the downloads from the Android Marketplace. It just says "downloading." I can't kill the process. I have rebooted the phone, manually killed the process. I get this message: "Sorry! The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Then "Force Close." I want appbrain back, I love the service, but I don't know what to do.

I've done this already for about 70 apps.
I've already checked my connection with my gmail account, it's all good. I'm just going to go through and install them all manually, but if anyone has any ideas, let me know.
I got to deleting a bunch of Spring stock apps using Titanium backup and now my marketplace won't download apps. :/ I was reading somewhere that Google talk might be the culprit (i did remove that)?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can browse the internet fine, i can use any app that uses the internet like facebook, youtube, etc. I can even browse the android market fine. Its just stuck at "starting download". I really dont want to reset my phone.
I've tryed:
- restarting
- Turning off and on data connections ( both 3g and wifi )
- Clearing any google cache
- google talk
- deleting apps ( if its a space issue )
- canceling and restarting downloads
- have it attempt to download for 24+ hours
None of these worked. it seems reseting the phone is the last option. I have the Sony Xperia X10. Has anyone with that phone resolved the issue? Is it even the phone that's causing the issue? maybe the market itself is buggy.
When developing on BlackBerry or iOS, you can deploy your application just by dropping the compiled code into a special directory, and when the simulator boots up it will check that directory and install any apps that it finds there. Is this possible for Android? The reason this feature is desirable is because my build system deploys builds nightly. I want the emulator ready to go when my QA team gets in the next morning. To do that, I have to write a script that boots up the emulator, waits for it to start up, then calls adb install and finally shuts down the emulator. It would be great if I could just drop the .apk in a directory and have it ready to go the next time QA boots up the emulator.

- Market freezes download
- Low on space notification (almost 19MB free)
- Google Talk won't load on my phone
I'm running the SimplyStunning 4.8 ROM. I reflashed the ROM last week and it seemed to resolve the problem for a while, but now it's come back.
I have purchased HTC Desire (via mobiles.co.uk) with Orange's Panther plan. Orange Maps comes free on Panther 30 plan.
Since my phone came from mobiles.co.uk, it didn't come with Orangeworld or Orange Maps application pre-installed.
When I try to download Orange Maps application, Orange webpage tells me that my handset is not supported. Which is not true, because HTC Desire is listed as a supported handset on Orange Maps website.
When I looked at orange world > help & costs > Your technical info, my handset is being shown as "Orange SPV M2000" instead of HTC Desire. Is it possible that orange website is not recognizing HTC Desire correctly because of which it is not allowing me to download Orange Maps application?
Every time I go to download an app it hangs on Starting Download... I'm running stock froyo, rooted.

As of now i dont have a orange sim and my hero is reset to factory settings . so i always see a screen asking me to insert sim card.

I have had one of those "Starting download" errors in the market for almost 3 months now (!) and I'm starting to get tired of it.
I'm using a Desire with android 2.2. My problem is this: I can download from satellite network, but not via Wifi at home. However, it seems to be a 1% chance (or close to that) of successful download using the Wifi.
I have logged in and out of Talk several times, did a couple of factory resets, formatted the SD card, cleared cache from HTC checkin service, market, google talk and downloader (if thats what its called in english). I tried to set the network as only WCDMA, only GSM and both auto, still no results. Everything else seems to work using the Wifi at home, except market. I called HTC for some help, and the only thing I got to know was that it wasn't my mobile operator, or other settings on my phone that caused this problem, and they also thougt it might be the network at home, which I too thought before talking to them. So I did a little research about that, and tried to open port 5228, even though that seemed weird, as it sometimes worked downloading. I also read about the change from googlemail.com to gmail.com, but I never had a "googlemail.com" address, so I hope this isnt the problem. Now HTC wants me to tell them if I can fix this, and how I did, so they probably have no clue either:S
I have also tried other things, which I don't remember right now, but if anyone can list up something to try, I'll see if I have done it or not.
I'm rooted and just flashed Super Clean rom from Rom Manager. When I go to update current apps or download new ones, it says "Starting download..." and never stops! After looking this problem up and reading other people's posts who have had similar problems, I've tried clearing all cache and data related to any Google-based app. I've done multiple nandroid backups over the past few weeks and have tried restoring back to them. I've tried factory data reset both from Settings-->Privacy and also from recovery mode in CWM. I'm out of ideas.
