I have couple of apps (billboard100 and xmplayer) that had been reaching download/installs of 10k/9k+ and 9k/6k respectively. This morning the counts dropped to 1k/1k and 5k/3k. How is that possible?

I released an app a few days ago and saw the total & active install count start moving pretty much immediately. However, over the last day or so it seems to have stalled. Judging from the ad metrics from AdMob over the same period though I'm pretty sure it's getting more downloads. Does anyone have any insight on how frequently Google updates these counters on the Developer Console?

View 10 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else experiencing problems? I'm on a HTC Desire running 2.2 stock Froyo. The only modification I've made is to manually force apps to the SD card. Since Market 2.12 was released I can download but not install anything. I can't update either, it'll download but then immediately bring up an Installation Failed notification.
I have been advised to clear the Market cache and to uninstall the new update but by the time I reload the Market after uninstalling the update, I'm back on 2.12 as it updates automatically.
Has anyone else experiencing similar problems?
Any idea if there's a fix or do I have to wait for Google to sort it out?
Is there anywhere I can report this to Google?
been trying to download and install a couple of apps last night and this afternoon but they are getting stuck on the "starting download screen"? Is this an issue with my device or an android market issue - ive rebooted my phone, cancelled the downloads then restarted but they always get stuck on the "starting download" screen?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded a picture attachment from my Gmail that is an 'unwanted picture' which I opened when I went to Gallery/Download folder.It is currently the default preview picture now for the Download folder. I've already deleted this picture from the Download folder, but anytime I download a new picture attachment, it still uses the 'unwanted' pic as the folder preview.I've even tried manually deleting the Download folder using AstroFile Manager.Everything I've tried doesn't seem to work.I desperately need help because currently I'm not able to download any picture from my Gmail account without that stupid picture showing up as the preview for the Download folder.

We identified the problem as occurring with application updates only, have made some changes recently that should resolve and prevent this problem. Please let us know if this error persists.
If we can assist you further, please let us know. In my case, things have not changed at all. Downloads are increasing (1550) and active installs stabilized at 29% (the value before the drop was 44/45%). So, indeed active installs are increasing again - 29% is stable since three weeks - but the original percentage was not restored. Now, I don't know what to think... Maybe the problem is not solved, maybe in my specific case the active installs really dropped for a while (but it's curious that it only happened for a while...). BTW, I didn't release any new upgrade since then (I have a new one almost ready, but I'm beyond schedule because of personal problems) - and maybe the count would fix itself with new upgrades...
What would you do now? Is there anybody else for which the problem was not solved?

I want to be able to download and install my app from my website, but when i do this at the moment i get the error:-
Download unsuccessful - Cannot Download. The content is not supported on the phone.
After looking into this it became apparent that the PHP Magic, that handles the downloads from the website, recognises the file as a .zip file rather then a .apk file and sends the it a .zip, that the phone does not recognise.
Does anyone know a way to get PHP Magic to recognise the file as an apk so that file extension does not get changed and the phone can recognise it?
I installed an app yesterday, (appbrain web downloader) but couldn't get appbrain app to download, so I uninstalled the appbrain web app. Today I tried to update a couple apps, and niether would update- either I got a message that said download paused, with no way to re start, our it would just show it as downloading, but not making any progress. I tried to install another app off the market, just to see, and out wouldn't install either....

Rebooting phone
Removing battery and re starting phone
going to titanium backup and wiping market data

I posted this in someone elses thread but I figured this deserved it's own post since it's pretty much a deal breaker for me. Hopefully someone has the answer for me. Thanks in advance. "I've been looking for a reliable messaging app since I got my incredible, but I always stuck with the stock sms. The reason being is one HUGE glitch scared me away from handcent. the glitch where it would randomly send a text message to the wrong person from your contact list and pretty much pick a random contact to send the sms to. I can't really have that happen since I use my phone as my work phone and personal phone. It would be a VERY bad situation if a text message I was sending my girlfriend was randomly sent to someone from work or a customer. I've seen people posting about this glitch earlier this year but I've never seen anyone confirm whether it not the glitch has been fixed or still exists? It's not something I want to risk. I guess my reason for posting this is I am very curious to find out if that glitch has been fixed. I would LOVE to use hand cent or chomp but I would like some confirmation as to whether or not that glitch is no more. Can anyone confirm this?"

View 6 Replies View RelatedEverytime I try to download an app, it just stays on the "starting download" screen with the flowing bar. Nothing happens! Sometimes it says unable to download or something similar. I've updated to 2.2 on T-Mobile and dont remember ever having this problem before. It's really frustrating.
I currently cannot download anything, either via wi-fi or Mobile network.
I cannot download anything from the android market, it goes to start & then just stops & just shows starting download...what can i do to sort this...plus i keep getting a notifiication saying google talk authentication failed ( this is only just started since i changed from googlmail.com to gmai.com.

Beyond the simple 'Active Installs' and 'Total installs' I am sure they have a whole treasure chest of useful information like active versions, Android Release version, hardware, and uninstall reasons (based on the prompt users see while uninstalling) It sure would be nice if we could see (even a portion of) this somehow. Example - Out of 524 ppl to install version 0.5.4 80% uninstalled saying "Does not function", while only 12% of those on version 0.5.5 uninstalled. Wow Sure points to a bug in that version(0.5.4), how useful or at least it would be if we could see this stuff. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have published my app on Android Market. I have successfully downloaded and installed the app from Market on my Moto Droid 10 days ago. My beta tester #1 successfully downloaded and installed the app from Market on his Samsung Galaxy 8 days ago. My beta tester #2 gets "download unsuccessful" when she tries to dowload app from Market on her Motorola Droid X at 2010-10-28 4pm Central Std time USA (10pm GMT). She tried several times over a 30 minute period. When I uninstalled and tried to download my app during this same time period, it took longer than I expected, then finished and said Google Maps had "successfully updated". No mention that my app did or did not install. My app is not installed on my phone now.
Developer's Console shows no problem, 20 downloads, 4 active, no errors, no comments. (This app is industry specific and not workable without subscription to a website, etc.)
Does Market work perfectly everytime? Does it have good times and bad times? If you think it may be my app that is the problem, what / where should I look for as the problem?
I'm unable to download anything from the market this afternoon - is anyone else having problems?
