View 7 RepliesIs there any way to push the msgs archived in the SMS folder that SMS backup creates in gmail back to the phone after a wipe? I've searched and searched and cannot find an answer or a trick to restore the backed up msgs. It's nice having the msgs backed up on Gmail but it would be nicer if I could have them on my phone as well.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got my Captivate the other day and I was wondering if there are any good e-mail apps for gmail, yahoo mail, and hotmail? I've tried each and the stock but either it won't let me add multiple accounts or it doesn't receive the emails even though there are new ones in my inbox when I check it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to send an e-mail, and so I use the typical intent --
CODE:...........................
When I do this, the chooser comes up and gives all kinds of choices, for anything that can handle text/plain i assume, because there's stuff in there that doesn't support "e-mail". How can I make it so that it will only show applications that support email (gmail, mail, yahoo mail, etc...) and not stuff like "Bluetooth", "Facebook", etc...
for some reason i can't seem to set up my personal yahoo email account. i keep getting an error saying i'm not authenticated? i just logged in with this pc and didn't have any problems. i was trying to set it up using the mail widget google /gmail worked just fine with their widget are they trying to just force me to use gmail only anyone have any similar problems and/or tips to get it set up. i would like to move to one email account but you know how it is, you get on, you get another, people have the old address guess i could forward yahoo to gmail.

View 11 Replies View RelatedAny word on if Google plans to open up the e-mail app that gmail uses for other e-mail accounts (hotmail, yahoo, etc). I don't want to forward my mail to gmail nor do I want to switch everything over. I would just like the functionality of the gmail app that came on the phone for other e-mail accounts as well.Anyone know of any updates coming that might address this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am new to Android. I plan to check for new mails on Google Mail (GMail) that are archived to their labels. Are there any examples that'll show how to do this (Gmail API, etc.?)? I searched a lot but found no helpful information about this, hope someone can help. What do I need?
Is there a way to check (with push) whether there are new mails in a label. I think the standard Gmail Android app could not do this!?
Because Gmail doesn't do a good job of receiving emails sent to my POP3 accounts, I would like to use the Mail app on my Eris to receive all my mail, including my Gmail.I was able to set up my Mail app to receive my Gmail, but how do I keep the Gmail app from receiving mail going to my Gmail account?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I delete a message from my K9 Mail app, it creates a label in my webmail account named "[imap]/trash". It also places a copy of the mesasge in the normal TRASH folder. I delete the [imap]/trash folder from my webmail account, but K9 re-creates it whenever I delete a message from the phone. How can I stop K9 from doing this, and only placing a copy in the normal TRASH folder?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've now tried downloading K9 Mail twice and had the same problem. I use a lot of Gmail filters to move mail that I don't need to respond to (listservs, etc.) past my inbox. My inbox usually has <10 messages that I need to act on. So the mail I actually want to browse while standing around, say, on the subway platform, is in All Mail.I would like to get All Mail pushed to my phone so I can browse it whenever. I only need the top 25-50 messages at a time. On the Blackberry, I used to have push set up for my Gmail account so obviously I saw what's in All Mail. Periodically I purged the stored messages older than a week. You'd think that K9 Mail would do this perfectly. But both times I've tried to install it, it appears to be trying to download all ~30,000 messages in All Mail in my Gmail account. So I uninstall in a panic! Is there something I'm not getting about the settings? I tried setting it to "fetch 25 messages" in the push/poll settings for that account... so why is it fetching thousands?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhy will the gmail app not empty the trash folder? If I delete an email on the phone and then switch to the trash folder my emails are there. I then select them all again to delete as you would expect. Yet each time I reload the trash folder all the deleted emails are still there. If I want to really delete them I have to go in to gmail with my pc.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Droid Eris, and am curious about the different email apps that came pre-installed. What exactly is the difference between the Mail app and the Gmail app (other than the obvious fact that Gmail only caters to Gmail accounts)? The only email account I use is a Gmail one - is there an advantage to using one over the other for me? I also noticed that the Mail app starts automatically, even if for now I'm not using it at all.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi would just like to ask on how can i get the messages on my email inbox folder and display it? similarly, how can I access gmail's inbox or other mail client's inbox folder? is this possible on android?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got an EVO, and I'm loving everything except this one thing. I would like my gmail app to default to "all mail," instead of simply "inbox." Why? I have some messages skip my gmail inbox (like facebook notifications or weekly coupons), so I have set labels to fix that! Keeps a clean inbox. BUT I want to still be notified of Facebook emails on my phone without having to specifically look for them. Say someone tags me in an unflattering picture, and I'm away from my laptop? I'd like to know right away! I have different needs for my phone and my laptop Does anyone else have these problems? Or...solutions?
View 2 Replies View Relatedmost other smart phones display the unread email count as a small number in the lower right hand corner of the email application icon. I like that. After realizing that this is not supported by the GMail app, I started looking around the market for a widget that achieves this. All I found was a commercial widget, which did not satisfy me (the count did not get instantly updated when the unread mail count changed). Therefore I want to develop a widget, which accomplishes exactly that. Many of you probably have more experience in android development than I do, so I would be happy to hear your opinions. I see two ways to realize this:
1) Somehow hook into a content provider of the GMail app and extract the unread mail count directly from there. Unfortunately the GMail app is not part of the SDK and closed source. Therefore I have no idea how to find out about the internal workings of the app and how to extract the unread mail count directly from there.
2) The second approach is much more indirect and has more overhead, but it will work nevertheless. I will let the user provide google username and password and log into the google imap server directly and find out how many unread mail there are. A port of the JavaMail library for the android OS should make this quite simple. The question remains when to update the mail count. What should trigger the update? A periodic time-out? Well, my first idea would be to update it when the widget is first started and then every time a new mail notification comes in. However I don't know whether this is possible. Can I tell my application to react to notifications, which where produced by another application (GMail app in our case) ?
I really think there should be a free unread gmail widget, which accomplishes this! I would be happy to receive feedback.
At this point I have gmail and the regular Mail built in (fetching mail from a SMTP server) syncing fine, but they do that separately. Obviously, this means triggering the 3G connection twice, once for gmail and once for the Mail app, which in turn means wasted battery life.
Is there a solution? Is there an app that can trigger them both to sync at the same time?
i just got my incredible yesterday, so i apologize if this is a bit snobbish, but I'm getting two copies of my Gmail mail on my phone, one in the mail thing and one via the gmail app. i also have an email account from my Google apps hosted email. but i cant seem to stop the gmail app from showing me the email too. how do i stop it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI find the Gmail app to be not a useful as I'm use to on the iPhone so until they update it are there any alternatives? Is there a better mail app that I sync with my Gmail account?
