View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure out whats going on. I have 2 DI for myself and girlfriend. I have my email (gmail and yahoo) setup through the HTC Mail Client and they work fine. I setup my other phone the same way and it worked fine, but once the yahoo account completed the process of downloading the inbox, I got an Authentication Error stating the login was incorrect. The login is not wrong and works fine to login via the standard web page. I tried to delete the Yahoo Account on the HTC, but when I went to setup again I had the same issue. Not sure how or why this could be happening. Any advice is appreciated. Also verified all the yahoo email settings on my working device and they are all the same on the other device with the issue.

I've tried each and the stock but either it won't let me add multiple accounts or it doesn't receive the emails even though there are new ones in my inbox when I check it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to send an e-mail, and so I use the typical intent --
CODE:...........................
When I do this, the chooser comes up and gives all kinds of choices, for anything that can handle text/plain i assume, because there's stuff in there that doesn't support "e-mail". How can I make it so that it will only show applications that support email (gmail, mail, yahoo mail, etc...) and not stuff like "Bluetooth", "Facebook", etc...
for some reason i can't seem to set up my personal yahoo email account. i keep getting an error saying i'm not authenticated? i just logged in with this pc and didn't have any problems. i was trying to set it up using the mail widget google /gmail worked just fine with their widget are they trying to just force me to use gmail only anyone have any similar problems and/or tips to get it set up. i would like to move to one email account but you know how it is, you get on, you get another, people have the old address guess i could forward yahoo to gmail.

I don't want to forward my mail to gmail nor do I want to switch everything over. I would just like the functionality of the gmail app that came on the phone for other e-mail accounts as well.Anyone know of any updates coming that might address this?

At the moment in the ROM existing e-mail stock Samsung app is okei, but I have played with the HTC One ( HTC Sense 5) Mail app and that is what I need.
So- is there an option to get on my SGS3 the HTC Mail app and what do I need for that? If not- why?
Main needed options that must work:
Exchange support
Push support
Subfolder support

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've now tried downloading K9 Mail twice and had the same problem. I use a lot of Gmail filters to move mail that I don't need to respond to (listservs, etc.) past my inbox. My inbox usually has <10 messages that I need to act on. So the mail I actually want to browse while standing around, say, on the subway platform, is in All Mail.I would like to get All Mail pushed to my phone so I can browse it whenever. I only need the top 25-50 messages at a time. On the Blackberry, I used to have push set up for my Gmail account so obviously I saw what's in All Mail. Periodically I purged the stored messages older than a week. You'd think that K9 Mail would do this perfectly. But both times I've tried to install it, it appears to be trying to download all ~30,000 messages in All Mail in my Gmail account. So I uninstall in a panic! Is there something I'm not getting about the settings? I tried setting it to "fetch 25 messages" in the push/poll settings for that account... so why is it fetching thousands?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Droid Eris, and am curious about the different email apps that came pre-installed. What exactly is the difference between the Mail app and the Gmail app (other than the obvious fact that Gmail only caters to Gmail accounts)? The only email account I use is a Gmail one - is there an advantage to using one over the other for me? I also noticed that the Mail app starts automatically, even if for now I'm not using it at all.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI just got an EVO, and I'm loving everything except this one thing. I would like my gmail app to default to "all mail," instead of simply "inbox." Why? I have some messages skip my gmail inbox (like facebook notifications or weekly coupons), so I have set labels to fix that! Keeps a clean inbox. BUT I want to still be notified of Facebook emails on my phone without having to specifically look for them. Say someone tags me in an unflattering picture, and I'm away from my laptop? I'd like to know right away! I have different needs for my phone and my laptop Does anyone else have these problems? Or...solutions?
View 2 Replies View Relatedmost other smart phones display the unread email count as a small number in the lower right hand corner of the email application icon. I like that. After realizing that this is not supported by the GMail app, I started looking around the market for a widget that achieves this. All I found was a commercial widget, which did not satisfy me (the count did not get instantly updated when the unread mail count changed). Therefore I want to develop a widget, which accomplishes exactly that. Many of you probably have more experience in android development than I do, so I would be happy to hear your opinions. I see two ways to realize this:
1) Somehow hook into a content provider of the GMail app and extract the unread mail count directly from there. Unfortunately the GMail app is not part of the SDK and closed source. Therefore I have no idea how to find out about the internal workings of the app and how to extract the unread mail count directly from there.
2) The second approach is much more indirect and has more overhead, but it will work nevertheless. I will let the user provide google username and password and log into the google imap server directly and find out how many unread mail there are. A port of the JavaMail library for the android OS should make this quite simple. The question remains when to update the mail count. What should trigger the update? A periodic time-out? Well, my first idea would be to update it when the widget is first started and then every time a new mail notification comes in. However I don't know whether this is possible. Can I tell my application to react to notifications, which where produced by another application (GMail app in our case) ?
I really think there should be a free unread gmail widget, which accomplishes this! I would be happy to receive feedback.
At this point I have gmail and the regular Mail built in (fetching mail from a SMTP server) syncing fine, but they do that separately. Obviously, this means triggering the 3G connection twice, once for gmail and once for the Mail app, which in turn means wasted battery life.
Is there a solution? Is there an app that can trigger them both to sync at the same time?
I can't find the archived mail folder in the Gmail app. Anyone?

Just thought I would share a little information I have found with my fellow Droid owners. This guide will allow you to (freely) forward your Yahoo! email to a newly created (or old) Gmail Account for easier integration with your Droid (or other Android Devices) without paying the $20 a month Yahoo! requires for premium service. First create your Gmail account if you do not already have one.
Also I am coming from the "New Yahoo"
Step 1: Sign into Yahoo Mail
Step 2: Click options on the upper right hand corner of your screen. Select to switch to Yahoo Mail Classic
Step 3: In the top left hand corner is your name. Highlight it and select "Account Info". It will ask you to put your password in again.
Step 4: Under Account Setting click "Set language, site, time-zone."
Step:5 Click New Setting and change it to Yahoo! Asia. Also accept the new Terms of Agreement.
You should now see a Yahoo! Asia logo on your homescreen.
We can now enable POP access and Email Forwarding without the $20 a normal member would pay.
Step 6: Click options again in the top right hand corner. Then Mail Options.
Step 7: On the left of the screen select POP and Forwarding. Then Set up or edit Pop and Forwarding.
Step 8: Click the bubble next to forwarding and enter in your new gmail account. Click Save.
Step 9: Send Verification
Step 10: Go to your gmail and grab the confirmation code and go back to the Yahoo! and enter. Enter password again.
I have the gmail app setup on my HTC desire HD and it works perfectly, however when I open the HTC mail app and try and add gmail to that it doesn't work giving me a password error (even though I am sure it is right) I want to use the htc mail app as it will allow me to have all my email accounts in the same mail box. I have tested it with a hotmail account and it works fine, is gmail supported?
View 1 Replies View RelatedPeriodically I change my passwords and yesterday after doing so, and updating my htc mail settings I cannot access my mail. I am getting an error saying authentication failed. It had worked perfectly fine then several hours later I got the message when I went to check my mail - actually the lack of. Because I had noticed gmail notifier updating my mail on my computer but nothing on my phone.
I read elsewhere to try it on just a 3g connection, or going to wifi, neither worked. I have deleted the account, and tried setting it up from scratch to no avail. The gmail stock app works, I just like the mail widget from htc.
I'm finding the 2.2 browser doesn't delete mail or archive from Gmail when I'm using it. Although the mail disappears from the list while I'm using the Android browser, when I connect to Gmail on my computer all the mail I thought I had deleted is still there. Anyone else having this problem? Using HTC Desire.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the HTC Mail widget on my homescreen. Is there any way to have the phone open messages with the Gmail App when I select them rather than opening with the HTC Mail App? For example, I also have the HTC Messages widget on my homescreen. When I select a message from that widget, the phone opens the message in the Handcent SMS app that I downloaded. When I first downloaded Handcent, the phone asked what program should be used as the default for messaging. I never got a prompt like that for email.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to get an intent when the user receives a mail and to cancel the gmail notification?
I want to filter some messages and I do not want to get notifications from them.
I'm trying to figure out how to do 1 of 2 things.
1. Is there a way to Remove the GMail and Mail App altogether *Without breaking anything*? If I recall, I didn't think there was a way without breaking sync support for calendar and contacts.
2. If the above cannot be done, is there a way to keep the GMail app from actually syncing your mail, and removing any mail that it was already sync up? I've already disabled syncing in account settings.
I installed K9 mail, and rather use that, so that ALL my e-mail is uniform.
