Any word on if Google plans to open up the e-mail app that gmail uses for other e-mail accounts (hotmail, yahoo, etc). I don't want to forward my mail to gmail nor do I want to switch everything over. I would just like the functionality of the gmail app that came on the phone for other e-mail accounts as well.Anyone know of any updates coming that might address this?

for some reason i can't seem to set up my personal yahoo email account. i keep getting an error saying i'm not authenticated? i just logged in with this pc and didn't have any problems. i was trying to set it up using the mail widget google /gmail worked just fine with their widget are they trying to just force me to use gmail only anyone have any similar problems and/or tips to get it set up. i would like to move to one email account but you know how it is, you get on, you get another, people have the old address guess i could forward yahoo to gmail.

When I do this, the chooser comes up and gives all kinds of choices, for anything that can handle text/plain i assume, because there's stuff in there that doesn't support "e-mail". How can I make it so that it will only show applications that support email (gmail, mail, yahoo mail, etc...) and not stuff like "Bluetooth", "Facebook", etc...
Just received the Droid X a few days ago and went through the standard setup with my existing gmail account. All worked fine for a few days but now I notice that I get no notification of any type for new mail unless I manually press the sync button.I thought that the gmail was a push like SMS and as soon as new mail arrives it notifies me (yes notifications are on).I just tested it by sending an email from my work address to gmail. Nothing on the phone but it does show if I log in via a regular computer.

I am able to send e-mail from the phone.The funny thing is that if I check my email from my PC and empty any e-mail's that are in my inbox, then try to check for new e-mail's with my DroidX (knowing that there are none) I do not get any errors.The errors only occur when there are e-mails in my inbox.Didn't have any problems with this setup with the incredible.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm on a rooted D1. I've had this problem w/ the last couple rooted ROMs. When I reply to a person's email it gets stuck in the outbox. The other day I happened to check it and there were 9 messages in there from the past 3 days that never were sent. I type the message and hit send, but it's never sent. It keeps saying 'sending' I had this problem today w/ SS 4.7 and prior to that had a problem a few days ago w/ ultimate droid and also whatever other ROM I was using last week. I can't remember. I am pretty sure I went to apps, gmail and cleared data and that didn't help.

is there anyway i can get my aol mail to go to my gmail account instantly?
Does anybody know of an app that will show how many unread emails you have for gmail and corporate email? I like the default program but the widget is just a shortcut and doesn't show an unread count. I looked in the market and couldn't find anything.There has to be an app for that, it seems so basic.If I'm not making sense: I have handcent and the Handcent widget puts a little number of unread messages in the corner of the widget.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI was frustrated with our droids ability to use multiple pop3 email accounts at once. Sometime my emails would arrive hours after they were sent, which in business is unacceptable. Multiple pop3 accounts and gmail through activesync worked so smooth on my windows mobile Omnia i910. I am now trying to use mail fetcher integrated in gmail. I like it ok, and it's polling interval is getting shorter all the time (since google automatically calculates how often it should do it). I setup the pop3 accounts to get Labeled as the email account they come in on and auto Archive. I Archive the mail because I do not like a common inbox. Call me old school or whatever but I like to keep my buisness and pleasure separated. Here is my question:
My real question is now on my phone how can I automatically tell when a new email arrives from one of those other accounts (since it auto archives under it's label and hence doesn't show up in my inbox). If I can get this working my phone will be everything I always wanted.
Because Gmail doesn't do a good job of receiving emails sent to my POP3 accounts, I would like to use the Mail app on my Eris to receive all my mail, including my Gmail.I was able to set up my Mail app to receive my Gmail, but how do I keep the Gmail app from receiving mail going to my Gmail account?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm used to my BB which changes the gmail icon to one with an asterisk when i have new emails on gmail. the droid (android) does not. there's a pop up in the notifier bar but after that disappears there's not way to tell quickly if there's new mail received. is there anything i'm missing or an app that can notify me on the home screen that there's new email in my gmail inbox?

I noticed that the only way to view my school gmail account was through the gmail app, however I can view my personal gmail account with the mail app on my home screen. I have tried to select my ASU gmail account for that app but it doesn't give me an option to show it. Is there any way to add that account to the mail viewer?

I am finding I have to physically go into my settings, data synronization, and manually sync my mail for anything new to show up.Whats up? Is there a specific time limit set somewhere for when it checks for new mail?

I've been using the HTC app, but have noticed that after a day or so the notification sound stops playing when I receive an email. This happened for anyone else? 1 IMAP (Gmail) - 2 hourly
1 POP (Hotmail) - Once daily
My issue is that I am receiving alerts for the same new mail repeatedly. Here's the gist:
11:50 - New mail hits my inbox.
12:00 - I receive a notification of the new email.
12:05 - I check my inbox, but choose not to open the email at this time.
14:00 - I get a notification of a 'new' email, yet on checking it's the one received at 11:50, but still haven't opened.
15:00 - Rinse and repeat. Now, I'm not sure how many times this is happening, or even if it's everytime, but there's something definitely glitchy with mail notifications.Has anybody else noticed similar behaviour? If not I may try removing/adding my accounts back in again.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure out whats going on. I have 2 DI for myself and girlfriend. I have my email (gmail and yahoo) setup through the HTC Mail Client and they work fine. I setup my other phone the same way and it worked fine, but once the yahoo account completed the process of downloading the inbox, I got an Authentication Error stating the login was incorrect. The login is not wrong and works fine to login via the standard web page. I tried to delete the Yahoo Account on the HTC, but when I went to setup again I had the same issue. Not sure how or why this could be happening. Any advice is appreciated. Also verified all the yahoo email settings on my working device and they are all the same on the other device with the issue.

Mail app that was recently put in the Market, I have been using the stock mail app to check my Yahoo! mail.Last night when I checked my Yahoo! Mail through the stock mail app, I was getting weird error messages. Most of the time it would go ahead and put me in my Yahoo! inbox but there would also be a message saying "login failed." I would click OK and then go about my business because e-mails were coming through. I figured it would sort itself out at some point.This morning, it was still doing it and it was annoying, so I re-booted the phone. Same problem. So I decided to delete the account and re-install it (a few weeks ago I had some issues with my Exchange mail account and deleting then re-installing fixed them.)Now, when I try to re-install the account it says "Authentication failed. Please verify your username/password." I have tried it over and over. I know I am using the right username and password - I just used them on my desktop PC to get into the account. And my Yahoo! Mail app still works on the phone.Anyone have any ideas what has happened and/or how I can fix this? I really want to continue to be able to check my Yahoo! mail on my phone without having to use the Yahoo! app.
