Android :: App To Determine Actual Phone Specs?

Dec 9, 2009

I tried out this app: Fpt System Manager v1.1 Application for Android | Tools

And in the RAM area it currently shows me as having 83MB of RAM available out of 192.5MB of RAM. Obviously because of running apps.

What I'd like to know is how much _total_ RAM is _actually_ in my phone. The model I have is supposed to have 288MB of RAM (Rogers HTC Magic).

Is there an app, or is there some other way, to determine the actual specs of your phone, ie. actual total RAM installed?

It all works well on an actual G1, but i'm worried that if the emulator has a problem, other android phones may have the same problem. On an actual G1 the background is drawn on the background. All other drawing is drawn in front of it. On the emulator, the background is always drawn on the foreground, obsuring any other drawing. HTC Eris :: Gmail On Phone Not Syncing With Actual Account

Here is my issue. When I read or delete an email from my phone, it doesn't reflect in gmail when I login. It still shows as unread. Whenever I get new emails on the phone, it will say I have 5, but I only have 1 because I already read the other 4. But I cannot see them and can only view them then from gmail online. Never had this issue live past a *228 and reboot. I have cleared cache, tried reflash. Everything. Even went back to a working NAND and still same issue. I am using Aloysius v11 MAPS.

HTC Droid Eris : Need To Have Phone Actual Talk Time?

Feb 19, 2010

Ok I've read a gazillion threads on battery life and 2.1 etc etc and you have me all waiting anxiously for an update and bigger batteries but what about actual talk time on the phone? didn't see any threads about that. Its not uncommon for my phone to be a toy all week then on the weekend catch up with some buds or family or whatever and yak on the thing for 2 hours straight. Will it hold? I know my old razer with an ext batt would go 4 hours talk time easy, glimmer would do 2.5 hrs easy with stock battery sometimes more. Pearl did well, haven't really talked the Storm out cause its my work phone and I tend to shun that thing on the weekends ....so let me know how long you've talked on it! Battery life does seem to stink but I can't put the damn thing down so I'm sure that has something to do with it and all my other smartphones sucked battery wise too the first week or so, so I'm not passing judgment yet, just want to know how long i can talk on the thing before it dies....I will do my own testing soon but would like some ideas.

Android :: How To Determine Home Carrier On CDMA Phone?

Dec 2, 2009

How does one determine the home carrier on a CDMA phone? By home carrier I mean the carrier that the phone's owner has a contract with, not the owner of the cell site that the phone is communicating with. These are different when the phone is roaming. On a GSM phone I can get the home carrier from the IMSI recorded on the SIM, but this does not work on a CDMA phone. CDMA has a similar identifier called home system ID. Is there a way to query the home system ID? If that is not possible, how do I determine the home carrier? On Windows Mobile I am forced to search the registry looking for strings like 'Verizon' and 'Sprint'. Is there a similar klooge on Android?

Android :: Determine Phone's Proximity To Known Point While Conserving Power

Jun 14, 2010

I am trying to determine if an Android user has had a close proximity to a list of predetermined locations. I'd like to do this with the least amount of drain on the phone's battery. The two mechanisms I see for accomplishing this are proximity alerts and requesting location updates. What are the pros and cons of the two methods? Will one have less affect on the battery than the other? In either case I would guess the specific location manager used would have some affect power usage (existing Stack Overflow answer).

Android :: Motorola Droid OpenGL ES Specs?

Oct 28, 2009

I just got my hands on this phone.

Here's my summary:

1) It's really fast. Runs all my games at max framerates.

2) The screen is 16:9 and will probably mess with your layouts and games and stuff.

3) It has a PowerVR SGX530. That's right around iPhone 3GS's GPU speed.

I believe the hardware supports OpenGL ES 2.0 but since Android doesn't, there's no way to use it right now. I did, however, dump all of the GL extensions and put them alongside the G1 and Emulator extension lists into this handy-dandy article - http://www.rbgrn.net/content/345-hands-on-motorola-droid-opengl-es-specs

Samsung Captivate :: Specs Not Equal To SGS?

Jul 17, 2010

Post from XDA...Can someone that has the phone confirm this?Couple of interesting specs - xda-developers. AT&T has posted a new spec sheet on the Captivate here.Couple of things stood out in contrast to information (speculation?) that has been posted on this forum and elsewhere, so wanted to mention them and see if any of the early purchasers can check and confirm.

Memory
Flash (device) Memory16 GB flash memory
Expandable MemorySupports MicroSD cards with up to 16GB of memory

I point these out since some people have assumed that the base specs of the SGS were carried over to the Captivate (e.g., 802.11n, FLAC support, max 32GB MicroSD cards supported). Has anyone checked these on their phones yet?

Motorola CLIQ :: >> Battery Specs - Setting

Nov 26, 2009

From the Motorola site:

POWER up to 360 min / 6 hrs

USAGE TIME (CONTINUOUS)2

BATTERY TYPE
1420 mAh lithium polymer
STANDBY TIME2
up to 325 hrs / 13.5 days

I did away with all the motoblur stuff but I've been having problems with my battery life still.... I've been running a bunch of apps, IMing, emails, wifi etc.... and it's been lasting about 6 hours.

Today I cut everything back using "advanced task manager free" and after about 6 or 7 hours I still only had like 40% left...... no where near anything like the specs.

Six hours continuous talk time? 325 hours standby? Certainly not the way it comes out of the box! Who are they trying to kid? Is anyone getting anything near this? Is there even any way to get close to that? WTF? Does anyone find these specifications deceptive?

My battery might not be the best but it seems to be at least average from what I hear. Please tell me what setting I need to get this kid of battery life!

Some people here have said deep cycling the battery helps but that's supposed to be bad for lipo batteries

Some people also say you need to charge the battery fully before first use or you can ruin it but no other sites mention that.

I want to be able to use gps and apps and wifi and email and IM during the day w/o being tied to a charger all day. I was a dedicated sidekick user but now love the cliq.... except for the battery life.

I thought of getting a spare battery but don't want to lug an extra battery around...... I've seen apps (APNdroid) that shut off the data to conserve battery life but I want to use the features of the phone... that's why I have it....... what's the answer?

Btw: "battery graph" and "spare parts" are great apps to monitor battery usage.

Also, in some places it says the bp6x battery is rated at 1300 mAh and in other is says 1420 mAh but it's the same battery! What's up with that?

Question: What kind of battery life do you experience with "normal" usage? Does anyone know what settings to use to approximate the times noted in the Cliq specifications?
