Android :: Google / Chrome Operating System - Download Link

I was just thinking that one day in the near future we will have Google operating systems on all of our devices i.e. phone, laptop, and tablet/pad. I am not sure what if any difference between Chrome and Android and how this will affect the likes of Microsoft and Apple. I believe that you can now download the complete Chrome operating system and install it on our laptops etc. See this link Google Android OS Now Available For Download. I am having issues with my application when a user gets a system update (for example from 2.1 to 2.2). i am wondering how I can reproduce this experience on a phone (Nexus One). does this involve rooting the phone and then applying a system update? I need the update to look as though it came from the system. In other words, I can't take a full ROM image, because then I think I would lose my application being installed between upgrades.

My friend has the droid eris and he says that his task killer keeps killing his operating system so he has to get his phone replaced.I want an android phone but if that is going to be a problem ill have to pass. is there any way to fix this?

Just got the moment from Sprint.According to the phone, it's still on version 1.5Is there a way to update it to 2.1? Would like to get some apps, (Launcher Pro, Epocrates, etc.). When I do a search on the android marketplace, it doesn't show up.I assume its because of the older OS.Help please!Didn't know I was getting such an old phone?

the phone's carrier was virgin mobile so i downloaded an app to unlock it to another carrier but phone froze during process so had to power off and on the it got stuck on logo screen so some how i managed to install twrp v2.6.3.0 onto the phone but i am now just stuck here the phone now has no operating system and it showing internal memory as 0mb and i can only mount external SD.

I have an issue related publishing the paid app to android market. (My application is internet connection based app.) If I've put the app to the android market, can user who bought the app pass to anyone? How is its security (I mean safe of .apk file)? Also, what is payment tool of android market? My main point is choosing the best way to link paid user to our system. On froyo, when I get a Link exception while loading a library, it does not give the symbol that it could not find! On eclair, there used to be a helper message saying "cannot locate xyz symbol'. Google Chrome doesn't trust my university's website where all of my school documents and resources are, and thus won't let me download any files from the site. It's nothing crazy or illegitimate, it's my school's site... it just makes it difficult when I want to download pdf files or word documents to work on the go. Any remedy at all aside from downloading on my computer and saving to Google drive?

Second, I'm a bit confused about two sd cards shown in my "es datei explorer". There is a "sd card" and a "extsd card" which I suppose to be the real card. What's the first one?

I`am trying to download and install an apk from some link, but for some reason i get an exception. I have one method downloadfile() which downloading the file and a call to and installFile() method, which supposed to install it in the device.

This is the exception details:
"Neither user 10057 nor current process has android.permission.INSTALL_PACKAGES". and i have set in my main app that permission in the manifest.

Before i posted this I did see 5 other threads about Google chrome but only one stating another phone that will ( possible ) have Google chrome web browser in the phone. I'm writing wondering why if this is a Google phone why doesn't Google and htc implement Google chrome web browser in the phone i mean come on there's opera mini browser in there. I'm not saying anything bad about opera thats other people vote on good or bad but why not have Google chrome in a Google phone?? when Apple makes a device the use what they make ( I'm a huge apple user I work for them ) notice i didn't use the word "fan"?

I have a WebView, which will contain links to documents, in this case PDF files. The default action (at least on my device) seems to be to open the URL with the browser, which in turn causes them to be saved in the default download location.
I want to intercept this in my code, so that I can get hold of the file and save it to whatever location I choose. Is this possible?

HttpClient 4 doesn't have that included anymore. The upstream project didn't integrate it from the 3.x client. I had to do exactly the same today. Basically I solved it by including some additional jars: mime4j httpmime This question was already on the list and there's some better explanation: http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/msg/1ea124b384da9dc2 -- Urs My problem is that while i know what i have to include, i can't find a sensible download link for httpmime. the page points back to httpcore for downloads, but of course it's not in there any more (i checked). i was up for compiling it, but the source link takes me to the javadoc! something is definitely screwed up.
