Blank Eclipse Window?
Jul 16, 2012I installed Eclipse Juno 4.2.0. When I start it, it just comes up with a blank window without the panes. Looks like the attached image I tried all the menu items to no avail.

Nov 25, 2009I was playing around with the Motorola MotoDev IDE, which is kind of a jazzier front-end to Eclipse, and it asks you on startup if you want the Android emulator to show up in an IDE window. I said yes. That makes the emulator show up in an Eclipse tab, like the Console, Outline, etc. After a while it became apparent that MotoDev wasn't sufficiently different than Eclipse to make it worth the install. So I got rid of it. This is on Mac OS X with Snow Leopard. Now when I start Eclipse and run any Android project, even Hello world, the Console shows the emulator installing and the APK installing, and the Intent starting. But no emulator window. I found a setting in Eclipse->Preferences->Android->Launch Settings that said -no-window for the emulator. MotoDev must have set that. That had to be it. I got rid of it and still no Emulator. So I got rid of Eclipse, the SDK, everything and did a full fresh install of everything. Still no emulator window. I can start the emulator with an AVD from the command line fine and I see it. But from Eclipse, nada.

Android :: Logcat Tab In Eclipse DDMS Persepctive - ADT Plugin - Keeps Coming Up Blank
Oct 28, 2010I have seen this problem off and on while running the Eclipse (Galileo) under Fedora 11-13, whether the target is my device or an emulator. But now with my new device, the HTC T-Mobile G2 (Android 2.2), I see it much more frequently: I successfully download the app (complete with lots of Log.d() calls), the system successfully launches it, but the LogCat pane in the DDMS perspective is completely blank.
Sometimes, only sometimes, I seem to be able to kick it into action by clicking on the tool for Debug (the little bug one). But that doesn't even work all the time. Worse yet, it forces me to restart the whole program, which is very cumbersome.
And yes, I did remember to connect the device and make sure the device shows up under "adb devices", AND make sure that is the device the ADT downloaded to. I can even hit breakpoints in the code.
I suppose I could try relying only on the debugger, but I put a lot of work into writing those Log.d statements in the right place, it would be a giant leap backwards to do without them now. So any suggestions concerning what the problem might be, workarounds, or how to find relevant bugs logged against either ADT, SDK or the G2, would be welcome.
Google searches such as "android ddms logcat" have not helped so far.
I have also considered running ddms from the commandline, but the instructions on how to do this wtihout conflicting with the port already chosen by ADT for running DDMS are not clear enough to inspire confidence: so I always quit Eclipse before running the command line version of ddms. But then I lose the handy ability (provided by Eclipse) of navigating my source code while reading the log, so this too, is an inferior solution. Perhaps if someone can connect a few more of the dots in Google's instructions on this by explaining how to get the device and command-line DDMS to agree on a port while still running Eclipse, that would be a good solution.

May 25, 2010My logcat window in Eclipse only displays the first few lines of the Stack Trace for each exception. This means that I often can't see where an exception occurred. Is there any way to change this setting?

What is "window.demo.clickOnAndroid()"? I know that clickOnAndroid is a method in my Android application. But what is window and demo? My file is called demo.html. Is that it?

Jul 14, 2010Some background info: I got an HTC Evo a few days after the initial launch. I had no problems with the screen at first at least for a few weeks. Then all of a sudden, the screen would go blank after I took the phone off the charger, or would finish a call, and a few other instances. After dealing with that for a little over a week, I took the Evo back to sprint and got a brand new one. I looked all over the forums, but could not find any answers. I know some others are having this issue, but it doesn't seem that widespread. So I get the new phone, and for the first day, I don't install any of the apps I had on the last phone because of a lack of time. No problems to report the first day of use, so I think I'm in the clear. The next day I start installing all of the apps I had on the first Evo, and bang, it starts to happen again. The screen goes blank, and I can do nothing to turn it on except to pull the battery out and restart the phone which is a monster pain. After all of this, I have to think its a software issue. Some app I have running could be causing this? How likely is it that 2 Evo's have this exact same problem, and that it's hardware related? Here is a list of apps I have installed on my phone: maui9111's Apps on the phone. I tried uninstalling several of them, but still can't find the solution. Anyone have any ideas? I love this phone, but this issue is driving me nuts!

Jul 7, 2009Just picked up a HTC Magic off of eBay and have put my Orange sim card into it. Can make calls/send texts etc. Obviously 3G internet is not working and I imagine MMS if I tried that. I have tried to put my Orange APN settings into the settings. However, when I bring up the APN menu it is simply blank. No exisiting settings or options to create a new set.

May 5, 2012My 16GB SD card is now saying it is a Blank SD card , when I select to format, it says " External Media in Unknown State'. I tried formating it with an other phone and connected to into a card reader, but it doesn't even read it.

The application seems to run and record MP4 output file, but it is blank when I view it with QuickTime! I am wondering if I am setting up the MediaRecorder correctly. Apr 2, 2010My Desire has suddenly stopped recognizing my 4GB SD Card today. Just says it's blank and needs formatting! When I try to access the card via my PC it just wants to format it but when I bring up the format window the PC only sees 30MB and a format of FAT. The Properties show it formatted as RAW. Jul 25, 2010The thing is that time to time my device does not respond to screen touch. For instance: then there is an incoming call it stays blank and I can not see who is calling and at the same time not able to answer it.
Touching the screen does nothing, only after pushing hard buttons, I am able to terminate the call. Also, when I am trying to access the OS from sleep mode by pressing the power button--there is no home screen--it stays blank. The only thing it does---the lights go on the home, menu, back and search buttons.
I did contact ot HTC help service and they told me to try to use the device in safe mode for two days. (this should terminate all 3rd party applications, that might cause the issue). Its my first day that I am use is in the safe mode and so far I do not experience any problems.
I do suspect that the reason of my problem could be the task killer that I am using in order to eliminator some programs running in background. But I did try out several task killers so far, however the issue remains the same
HTC Hero :: Gives Notification Blank SD Card

I plugged it into my hero and it displayed 14gb out of 16gb, so I hit the format SD card on my hero, and now the hero gives a notification "blank SD card", if I push it, it asks me if I want to format, so I hit format and nothing happens, how do I know if its formatting? does it tell me when its done?

No it's really annoying.Every once in a while I'll click on my app drawer and it's completely blank.Closing it and reopening it doesn't seem to work. Sep 30, 2010I have an HTC Desire and I managed to break the LCD. I had the LCD and touchscreen replaced (don't ask long story) and now I have the following issue: When I make a call and even before I lift the phone to my ear the screen goes blank. None of the buttons work but the call is fine - I can be heard/hear the other person. When the other person ends the call the phone bips to tell me the call is over, but the screen stays blank. I can re-activate the screen by receiving a missed call - ie calling my phone and then hanging up re-activates the screen. In addition, when my phone rings the screen is fine, but as soon as I answer the call and lift the phone to my ear the screen goes off as before. The only other way to bring the screen back is to remove the battery. Whilst the screen is blank I loose all touch-screen capability too. Everything else on the phone works perfectly, sync to email, text, GPS, camera, internet etc all not a problem.
