Android :: Emulator Doesn't Show Up / Command Window That Opens Up
Jul 15, 2010I have a problem my emulator when i click on start button to run the AVD tehre is a command window that opens up and then there is nothing, the emulator window doesn't show up. I have extracted the sdk folder several time. deleted teh .android folder everytime . Can somebody tell me what is teh problem or what else can i do. Since its not running from sdk Setup.exe, in eclipse to i cant run it. Itsay launching the emulator but then there is nothing. Can someone tell me if android sdk as some log files where i can check the errors.

Dec 18, 2009Has anyone been successful showing a notification, starting an activity, or loading the home screen *during* a call on the Droid? All three of these actions can be done with the emulator running 2.0, but will not run from the Droid. I don't receive any type of notification that these actions fail on the Droid. Although, every action works when a call is *not* active. Missed calls during a call *do* show up in the notification bar, so I am hoping there is a way.
I understand that the notification bar can not be accessed by users during calls, but it would be nice if a notification could at least be delivered. I also understand the security and usability concerns of displaying a window or action during phone calls. Although, there are a lot of users who would like actionable functionality based on calls.
Android :: Start-emulator Task Never Gets Emulator Running
Mar 16, 2010I downloaded the most recent version of Android for linux (android-sdk_r05-linux_86.tgz). I was trying to use the the Android Ant task(s) for packaging, building, and deploying my code. I should mention that I'm running AMD64, but have the 32-bit libraries installed. The Android Ant tasks are all broken.
First, the start-emulator task never gets the emulator running. It does get past starting adb, but then just sits there.
Second, the SDK is missing the aapt binary in the tools directory. So, the example notepad sample application will not even package correctly.
I have all the dependencies configured for Android. I can run it from the command line just fine.I assume the Ant code is out of sync with the recent SDK updates. Can anyone shed some light on this problem? At this point, I'm considering writing my own Python scripts to interact with the Android SDK. Ugh.

Android :: No Emulator Window In Eclipse
Nov 25, 2009I was playing around with the Motorola MotoDev IDE, which is kind of a jazzier front-end to Eclipse, and it asks you on startup if you want the Android emulator to show up in an IDE window. I said yes. That makes the emulator show up in an Eclipse tab, like the Console, Outline, etc. After a while it became apparent that MotoDev wasn't sufficiently different than Eclipse to make it worth the install. So I got rid of it. This is on Mac OS X with Snow Leopard. Now when I start Eclipse and run any Android project, even Hello world, the Console shows the emulator installing and the APK installing, and the Intent starting. But no emulator window. I found a setting in Eclipse->Preferences->Android->Launch Settings that said -no-window for the emulator. MotoDev must have set that. That had to be it. I got rid of it and still no Emulator. So I got rid of Eclipse, the SDK, everything and did a full fresh install of everything. Still no emulator window. I can start the emulator with an AVD from the command line fine and I see it. But from Eclipse, nada.

Mar 29, 2010I have a simple app that I am building to get the hang of android's development environment - and things like click events, etc..
The app loads, and I am able to change the text in a textfield using a button handler. However, when I import the location class, and try to do a simple GPS call, the application crashes.
The problem is, everything looks good in Eclipse (error console) - and I'm not seeing any exceptions in the android emulator (DevTools). I have the logcat window open, but I haven't done anything in eclipse/code to send logcat anything (do I need to?)
Is there a better way to troubleshoot?

Android :: Emulator Window Small Size
Sep 4, 2009I added -scale 0.2 to the Default emulator option under eclipse and launched the emulator.After that I got a really small window. I then removed the -scale 0.2 but the emulator window remains small.I can start the emulator from command line and i get the normal size, but not with eclipse.Any help would be appreciated.

Dec 2, 2010This was reported in the other thread about X8 Issues, but thought to start a new one to gather feedback from users. It's about the ''black screen'' freezing issue encountered by some users. I have had this several times since owning the phone for a few weeks, so it is a recurring issue. Problem: The phone hangs or appears to be shut down or become unresponsive suddenly. Pressing the hardware buttons doesn't help as the phone doesn't react at all. Solution: Take out cover and battery and restart.Observations: From my own observations, it's not actually a shutdown but a major freezing/hanging. Sometimes when it happens, I can still see vague shades of the display at an angle. After leaving the phone for a while in the pocket, the phone comes back to normal again. Not sure if this is true for all users with this problem. Anyway, gathering more feedback to see how prevalent the problem is, to evaluate whether I should take it to the SE service centre, or whether doing so will help at all.

Jul 19, 2010I'm using Eclipse and the Android SDK for Linux. When I start my emulator at the beginning of the day it works fine. Later in the day it's sluggish and still later it won't start at all. This computer runs Debian linux, the testing branch, with 1Gig memory and a two 1.6 Ghz processors. On another machine I have, the emulator works the same at the beginning and end of the day.
It has 500M ram and a single 1.6 Ghz processor. As it turns out I cannot use the second machine for all my daily tasks. How can I get the first machine to work? Is it the number of processors? I cannot figure out how to disable a processor in the emulator. I was looking at the '-qemu' options, but none seems to do the trick. I don't understand the qemu options that well.
Android :: Emulator System Partition No Space From Start
Apr 20, 2010I got a wierd problem with android emulator, I have created a virtual device through Android AVD manager (newly created emulator with platform 2.1 and api level 7), I have tried with standard settings and with added hardware parameter for larger (256 mb) device ram size but nothing changed.
I need to come files to the system partition to test a project (called haggle), but for some reason the system partition has no space from start.

Android :: Emulator Fails To Start When Using Scale (Win7 X64)

When I try to start an emulator from Eclipse (Android SDK setup application) with the scale parameter it just fails. Second Command Prompt screen (which I think is actually a Java app) shows some exception but it closes itself right after. This is very annoying because without the scale, WVGA emulator does not fit on my laptop's screen. Any idea how to fix this? And when I try to start an emulator from Command Prompt with the scale, it works.
