Can you create a popup window in eclipse with web view in it, if so remotely how to achieve this. Im trying to get part of an app when loaded to automatically popup a web view box over the top of everything

Now, the height and width variables were supposed to be height and width of the layout used for the popup window (popupcontact). But they return 0. I guess that is because the layout isn't rendered yet. Does anyone have a clue, how can I control the size of the popup window without needing to use absolute pixel numbers?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a MapActivity as one of four tabs in a TabActivity.This MapActivity can launch a PopupWindow that is a legend. The PopupWindow remains on the screen, on top of the map, until the "Show Legend" button is clicked again (back and forth, etc.).The problem is that, when a user switches to another tab, the PopupWindow remains persistent over the view.I've tried implementing the onPause() method in the MapActivity class, and dismissing it from there. The application force closes with this method in place.I hope this provides an idea of where I'm at. Everything works perfectly well on the Map tab. It's only when you have the Legend shown and switch tabs that it is still displayed on other views.

Basically, how can one dismiss a PopupWindow when changing to a different TabActivity? The onPause() method in my TabActivity causes the app to force close.

It had a pop-up, but a different one.I also have Missed Call installed, but do not have SMS configured, nor do I think it even has an option for pop-windows like this anyway.

The Home sample in the android sdk doesn't implement the Add item, which bring up the "Add to home screen" popup window, and Notifivcations item in onCreateOptionsMenu and onOptionsItemSelected. How to do that like the default home?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was playing around with the Motorola MotoDev IDE, which is kind of a jazzier front-end to Eclipse, and it asks you on startup if you want the Android emulator to show up in an IDE window. I said yes. That makes the emulator show up in an Eclipse tab, like the Console, Outline, etc. After a while it became apparent that MotoDev wasn't sufficiently different than Eclipse to make it worth the install. So I got rid of it. This is on Mac OS X with Snow Leopard. Now when I start Eclipse and run any Android project, even Hello world, the Console shows the emulator installing and the APK installing, and the Intent starting. But no emulator window. I found a setting in Eclipse->Preferences->Android->Launch Settings that said -no-window for the emulator. MotoDev must have set that. That had to be it. I got rid of it and still no Emulator. So I got rid of Eclipse, the SDK, everything and did a full fresh install of everything. Still no emulator window. I can start the emulator with an AVD from the command line fine and I see it. But from Eclipse, nada.

My logcat window in Eclipse only displays the first few lines of the Stack Trace for each exception. This means that I often can't see where an exception occurred. Is there any way to change this setting?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI chose a default viewer but before it always asked me if I wanted to use Dolphin HD, Internet (stock), or Youtube app to play mobile youtube videos. I cleared defaults for all three apps but it's still choosing Dolphin to play. Now that wouldn't be a problem but what happens if I use Dolphin is that it completely messes up my Full screen settings and changes the browser to use full screen until i exit and go back into Dolphin.

I have a CustomView which is part of my SDK and anybody can add CustomView to their layouts. My CustomView is taking some actions when it is visible to the user periodically. So if view becomes invisible to the user then it needs to stop the timer and when it becomes visible again it should restart its course.
But unfortunately there is no certain way of checking if my CustomView becomes visible or invisible to the user. There are few things that I can check and listen to: onVisibilityChange, it is for view's visibility change, and is introduced in new API 8 version so has backward compatibility issue onWindowVisibilityChange, but my CustomView can be part of a ViewFlipper's Views so it can pose issues onDetachedFromWindows, this not as useful onWindowFocusChanged //Again my CustomView can be part of ViewFlipper's views. So if anybody has faced this kind of issues please throw some light.

I recently got some fade in stuff working so that my "loading" view is an ImageView that takes up the whole screen, and then I fade in the main view (a GridView in this case) over the top of it. In the activity creation, I call:

Do I need to do anything in particular to clean up the loading_foo view to reduce the amount of memory my app is using? Any other issues with this approach?
When I apply some animation to the view, which is out of window, the animation not start immediately. And then, I scroll the screen to show the animation target view, the animation will start. I hope to the animation will start immediately when it apply.

I am using a custom title view in my application for each activity. In one of the activities, based on button clicks I need to change the custom title view. Now this works fine every time when I make a call to setFeatureInt.
But if I try to update any items in the custom title (say change the text of a button or a text view on the title), the update does not take place.
Debugging through the code shows that the text view and button instances are not null and I can also see the custom title bar. But the text on the text view or the button is not updated. Has anyone else faced this problem? How do I resolve it?
