May 24, 2010Since upgrading to 2.1 it seems my battery is draining faster than on 1.5 and my keyboard is lagging. Anyone else having these problems?

View 16 RepliesMy wife's phone has used almost 4GB of data this month and her battery has been draining much faster than mine, especially at night. Last night we watched in SystemPanel at the Net Receive indicator and it was constantly downloading at least 200+ kps. I had read about some issues with Facebook so we removed the Friendstream widget and saw the downloading go close to zero.
This morning, I checked the 8 hour monitoring in SystemPanel and saw that the CPU activity was still high overnight (running near 30%) and her battery drain was twice mine (over 13% used over ~7 hours, mine was around 5% drain).
I loaded up Spare Parts on her phone and was looked under Battery History, Network Usage and took this picture (sorry about the quality, her screen protector makes it hard to get a good picture and she is not rooted). Can anyone explain what UID 10006 is and why it is downloading so much data? I do not see it listed on my phone in Spare Parts. What do we need to do to turn this off or at least slow it down?
For some reason my battery is draining a lot faster all of a sudden. I went from losing about 6% battery over night to 20%. Can't figure it out. I deleted the most recent apps, turn off 3g and all that. I checked my running services and nothing changed.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMaybe this has been talked about before but im going to ask this anyway. A couple of nights ago my battery was at about 30% (yellow) so i decided to turn my phone off and go to sleep, well when i woke up my i turned my hero back on, and the battery was at 9%. So last night the battery was low again and i decided to take the battery out and when i woke up i put it back on and my hero had the same battery life as last night
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy battery charges 2x faster now than before the update last week. Today I when I got off work, my battery was at 30% (lots of usage during and work in a plant). I put my phone on the charger at 5:30 pm. It's now 6:34 pm and my battery is at 98% charged. I'm using the standard charge provided by HTC.
View 3 Replies View Relatedis it possible that by having the phone in charger the battery dies faster? i have notice that when i take my phone of the charger it saids 100% and a minute later it says 99% and the percentage starts dropping from there. why is that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter updating my Hero the other day I have noticed a marked decrease in battery life. This started the very next day after updating my hero.
Right now I'm at 41% of battery life left after unplugging from the charger about 9 hours ago. For the past few weeks, I have been around 65%-70% at this time of day, and I'd normally be at about 15%-20% at 10:30 when I go to bed.
Is anyone else experiencing a similar decrease in battery life after the update?
Indeed HTC is working on a fix for these issues, but here is what You can do to fix the application in the mean time. I was getting 2 hours "Heavy" (texting,data,wifi,high brightness) use before.I read somewhere that there it is a battery issue caused by the defaul HTC (or android, idk) application.The work around is for sms to something other than the included app as the default action for text messaging. This is accomplished installing another handcent sms or various other apps that you may find by going to the market and searching SMS.After installation go to the contacts list and send a text to a contact.A screen should pop up and ask which messaging app you would like to use. If i does not ask you, then you should go to Settings> Applications> Manage Applications> It will take a minute while your phone computes the space taken up by each app.Click Messages> and Tick Clear defaults if it is available. Viola! substantial battery boost and faster charges.you can verify that your phone is now using less power by rebooting then shut of your screen by pressing the end key wait for 1-5 mins mins without touching it now quickly settings> about phone> status all the way at the bottom your phones "Awake Time" (not up time) should be below %40 (mine is between 10-40%) day to day if this is not the case your phone has other issues and I will try my best to help you out
I have also heard that by letting you device go to sleep immidiately after turning it on it enters a weird device state that causes %100 cpu usage. though i cannot confirm this i always flip to the next screen and back a few times and check my twitter and what not to make sure.
Having music junk on the phone does it kill the battery faster? and does it slow down the phone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow bright do u have ur htc hero my brightness is about half way is this good does it drain the battery faster.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI used my Hero this morning/afternoon with music, wi-fi, internet browsing, and I used up the first half of the battery. And after that, I have been mostly studying and not using my phone... but the second half of the batter drains, it seems like, FASTER than the first half did! No music playing, no wi-fi, no internet browsing? Is this normal? Is it just the nature of these batteries?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFollowing my last thread for same reason,"full charge battery goes empty in less then 3-4 hours,even with wi-fi,gps, turned off",with tip of you guys,i monitored battery usage with "spare parts" app,first i haven't notice anything unusual: SPARE PARTS gave me very normal cpu usage:1-android system2-browser, but then in the end of list of usage option,i checked other usage & what i found was very interesting:
SPARE PARTS>battery history>other usage>total in all time:
running =time without sleeping 28.1 %
SPARE PARTS>battery history>other usage>since last unplugged:
running =time spend without sleeping 99.999 %
SPARE PARTS>battery history>other usage>total since boot:
running=time spend without sleeping 99.999 %
Now i guess i know why my phone run out of charge in less then 3-4 hours,question is what i have to do about it?
any solution please? previous post:with a full charge battery in STAND-BY, it takes just about 3-4 hours for battery to be empty! help!
also i checked main setting now: setting>about phone>status>Awake time 100%
I had a quick question i couldn't find the answer to in the forums RE the message app battery drain on the HTC Hero, i disabled both auto-retrieve and notifications in the settings but when i run taskiller it still has messages running and using resources. anyone else have this problem and if you fixed it, what did you do?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was quite frustrated earlier with my battery performance. I turned off:
- WiFi
- Bluetooth
- "Use wireless networks"
- Gmail/Email pull and Auto-sync (but leave the "Background data" on)
- "Enable GPS satellites"
- Weather update
- "Enable Always-On mobile" (but leave the "Mobile network" ticked)
- and let Twitter/Facebook to automatically update only once/twice a day.
Still the battery was draining very fast. The only thing I did not turn off is the 3G. Yesterday I decided to switch to 2G and replace the built-in SMS with Handcent SMS. To my very surprise, the battery life improves greatly. I will now do a test to see how fast it drains. I have just fully charged the unit and will update it here once I get the result.
Before everybody redirects me to the standard "ways to extend your battery life" threads, I believe I've tried all the usual tricks, which is why I'm posting another thread.This is really starting to drive me nuts. Up until a few weeks ago, I was getting good battery life. A couple of days worth with normal usage, which I think is reasonable with all considered.But now, it lasts about half a day, which is obviously not much use when you can only charge it at night.I've been checking the "awake time" and sometimes it just keeps staying high. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. When the awake time is high, it is also warm to the touch, as if it is doing a lot of processing or something.
I've also been using "spare parts" to see what appears under "partial awake". I have never seen anything under this which accounts for the awake time. For example, the awake time might say "15 hrs", but "partial awake" in spare parts shows the biggest thing as being "Android system", but only taking "2 mins".I have (as far as I can tell) disabled the standard HTC messages app, and am now using Handcent SMS.I have turned off bluetooth and GPS, but leave wifi and mobile data on. I know switching these off saves power, but I've always had them on without as much drain as I do now.I have done a factory reset, and reinstalled all my usual apps, and left off any which I don't really need. All seemed well for a few days, but then the drain started again.
I have a feeling my battery drain is due to an update to an app, but as it's not consistent, I can't figure out which app or update it could be.As it is, with the battery lasting for less time than I am out in the day, it makes it a really rubbish phone, and just not fit for purpose.Is there any other way, other than using "spare parts", that I can tell what is using my power?
What is the one you like most?
View 41 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there are any ways to make this phone faster. It tends to slow down a lot..
Do you think upgrading to 2.0 with Cyanogen would make it any faster?
I have a HTC wildfire phone and even though i do enjoy it i find it to be very very slow and i have tried multiple things such as keeping my text messages to a maximum of 20 before deleting. Trying to delete unnesesary apps and junk off my phone. But it still runs slow, so i have joined this android forum seeking help. I can purchase a new phone an iphone 4 or HTC desire but i like my HTC wildfire and i enjoy the android operating system, the Wildfire's camera is amazing and the only thing i want to be able to do is make it faster. Will upgrading my SD card make the phone run faster?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had the phone for about 1.5 months now. I have about 70 or so apps. The phone is noticeably slow and lags a lot. Text messaging app crashes from time to time and I have to force close and loose all the texts. Should I upgrade the SD card? I've been reading about rooting the phone and about ROMs but I dont fully comprehend it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOk I'm looking to install new/bigger memory card (1gb to 8gb sdhc) for more memory after maintenance. I'm currently running Aloysious 2.0.9 Maps, looking to run new Custom ROM after my Sprint Store Visit. My vibrate mode stop working recently, so I'm gonna take back to Sprint cuz its still under warranty. I know I have to Unroot first before i take back, so i will. Do i Unroot to the 2.27 OR the 2.31 stock ROM? Will i be able to ROOT back to a new Custom ROM like LiquidSense 2.1, CM6, or aospMod v0.9.7. How/What files do i need to transfer over from my old card to new card after or before i flash new Custom ROM.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am brand new to Android and have a question about upgrading from the stock 2GB card to an 8GB class 6. I am rooted on 2.1 and want to flash my first custom ROM. What I want to know is when I get my new card will I have to re-root all over again or will I be able to just copy the data from my stock card to my pc then copy it back over to my new card? The root process was simple enough, however I would like to not have to go through the process over again if I don't have to.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWell, I was playing with my phone today and I might have made it a faster in a few minutes. This is what I did Home - Menu -settings - Applications - Manage Applications. In this menu it shows how much memory each program is using (?), not really sure, but if you click on the program you can clear out the cache and also clear the data of the program. I cleared out all of the data and cache from the programs that I dont use (sprint TV, NFL crap, footprints, etc...). It seems like its running faster, might help for people that have been using the phone for a long time and have a build up of data just sitting there doing nothing? Let me know if this works for anyone else!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was running Fresh 1.1+Gumbo and decided to take the plunge. I made my android backup, and backed up all my apps+system files with Titanium Backup and then flashed to Fresh 2.1.1. My question now is, how do I restore all my apps that I backed up. Do I just re-install the app from the market? And then use that to restore my old apps? Any help would be appreciated. Also... how do I enable apposed in 2.1.1 in the notes, flips stated it's turned off by default. I'd like to turn that on. I like me lots of apps, and would rather have them on my SD card.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to quickly switch between qwerty and phone pad keyboards?For those who know TouchPal, it's just a swipe to switch between the keyboard types/layout.With the Hero, one must select menu and change the keyboard--several actions.Even with Windows Mobile, it only takes two taps.It would even be better if one can set the type of keyboard used based on application or context.

I worked a lot of hours and skipped a coiple before the last one. I flashed the update with a wipe, took 30min. first boot like it was supposed to. Takes 15 every time since. I've not found any mention of this in the forums. Is it just my phone or are there others?
