Sprint HTC Hero :: Upgrading From 1 To 8GB SDHC Card

Nov 22, 2010

Ok I'm looking to install new/bigger memory card (1gb to 8gb sdhc) for more memory after maintenance. I'm currently running Aloysious 2.0.9 Maps, looking to run new Custom ROM after my Sprint Store Visit. My vibrate mode stop working recently, so I'm gonna take back to Sprint cuz its still under warranty. I know I have to Unroot first before i take back, so i will. Do i Unroot to the 2.27 OR the 2.31 stock ROM? Will i be able to ROOT back to a new Custom ROM like LiquidSense 2.1, CM6, or aospMod v0.9.7. How/What files do i need to transfer over from my old card to new card after or before i flash new Custom ROM.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Upgrading SD Card With Root

Jun 11, 2010

I am brand new to Android and have a question about upgrading from the stock 2GB card to an 8GB class 6. I am rooted on 2.1 and want to flash my first custom ROM. What I want to know is when I get my new card will I have to re-root all over again or will I be able to just copy the data from my stock card to my pc then copy it back over to my new card? The root process was simple enough, however I would like to not have to go through the process over again if I don't have to.

HTC Hero :: Want Upgrading SD Card

Mar 22, 2010

With 2.1 update fairly imminent, I thought I'd take the opportunity to upgrade my SD card to a 4gb or even 8gb. I have had my Hero since November and love it, but I noticed recently I have just about filled my 2gb card with data.So ... what is the process involved? Is it simply a case of connecting to my PC, creating a folder and dragging the lot >>> swapping the card in the phone >> then dragging it all back onto the new card?

Sprint HTC Hero : How To Restore Apps After Upgrading To Fresh 2.1.1

May 18, 2010

I was running Fresh 1.1+Gumbo and decided to take the plunge. I made my android backup, and backed up all my apps+system files with Titanium Backup and then flashed to Fresh 2.1.1. My question now is, how do I restore all my apps that I backed up. Do I just re-install the app from the market? And then use that to restore my old apps? Any help would be appreciated. Also... how do I enable apposed in 2.1.1 in the notes, flips stated it's turned off by default. I'd like to turn that on. I like me lots of apps, and would rather have them on my SD card.

I have been running Damages Rom for a while. I like the Rom and have been upgrading as the releases have come out. I worked a lot of hours and skipped a coiple before the last one. I flashed the update with a wipe, took 30min. first boot like it was supposed to. Takes 15 every time since. I've not found any mention of this in the forums. Is it just my phone or are there others?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Phone Number - Transferred Contacts From My Old Phone

Nov 4, 2009

I transferred contacts from my old phone (Samsung Instinct). One of the numbers was a voicemail for another location. On the Instinct you put in the numbers with a pause in the string which allowed you to delay entry of saved access codes until the right time. Is there a way to do this on the Hero?

HTC EVO 4G :: Change To Larger SD Card

Sep 19, 2010

My stock 8GB card is showing about 7GB full, so I figure I'd better upgrade to a larger card before I start running into problems.

My preference would be to NOT have to do much work. I like the way my card is set up now. My phone is working well. I don't want to mess with a good thing.

Is it possible to simply copy the entire contents of the old, 8GB card onto the new 32GB card, insert the new card in the EVO, and be on my way? Or, is there other stuff I need to do?

I would rather NOT do any kind of clean installation and restore all my apps and data, one by one.

Android :: How To Swap To A Larger SD Card

Aug 23, 2010

Brand new to android, and loving it. But with the release of the Audible app and various music files, I'm going to fill my little 2GB card soon.

How would I go about switching to a larger capacity card? I'm not worried about data files, I know I can copy all of that stuff off the card, but what about any apps or app settings that might be stored on the card? If I simply copy the entire contents of the card to a new one, will everything "work" when I start the phone up? I confess I don't really know much about the android guts, but I'm willing to learn!

Phone specs:
1.) Model Number: Samsung Intercept SPH-M910
2.) Firmware Version: 2.1-update1
3.) Baseband Version: S:M910.05 S.DF27
4.) Kernel Version 2.6.29
5.) Build Number Samsung ECLAIR.DF27
6.) Carrier - Sprint
7.) US

General :: Swapping SD Card - How To Make Sure Everything Transferred

Jan 28, 2012

I plugged in my HTC Inspire 4G, and tried to copy everything on the card to a temporary folder, which I will then copy back to my new SD card. But the weird thing is Windows says the total size of all files and folders I copied is 1.85GB, but when I right click->Properties on the Removable Disc, it says the card has 1.94GB used. So there's about 90MB of something that's on the card but Windows can't see or copy. I'm concerned there's something hidden there that will cause problems if my phone can't find it on the new card. Any way I can make sure everything is copied over?

Motorola Droid :: List Of Apps Able To Be Transferred To SD Card - For 2.2

Jun 5, 2010

I think it would be cool if we could keep a list going of which apps can be moved to the sd card (with 2.2). I'll start it, and submit apps and I'll keep this updated. Feel free to move to "All things root", but I figured it'd be a better fit here since 2.2 will eventually be released to everyone.

As of right now, I could hardly find any (only one to be exact) but I'll start the list anyways

HTC EVO 4G :: Transferred Files Not Appearing On 32gb Microsd Card

Jul 21, 2010

i have a new card and after transfering the files (which takes forever) the files are not there. on one occasion i transfered the files then inserted the card into my evo and then the music player says the file is not playable then the files seem to disappear. i am new to microsd cards but not new to pc hardware and software. to me i view the new evo as almost a mini laptop with a phone built in.

the damn phone does everything and is my first and probably last cell phone. about the card though, i formated it with my pc (windows 7) with the multimedia card reader built in. and had no luck with this issue then... i formatted the card with the phone and still no change. it is like the files just disappear

HTC Hero :: O2 - Sending MMS Larger Than 4kb

Mar 30, 2010

Recently found settings that allow me to send MMS on O2 from an Unlocked (Orange) Hero.

Only problem is that no matter what I try I can never send/receive images bigger that 4kb. I understand that it's something to do with O2 not recognising the phone, therefore reducing the file size.

I presume a lot of people would have the same issue but has anybody got a work around for this? Something that tricks their servers into thinking that it's another phone perhaps?

I thought using Handscent might work as you can set the size but unfortunately the setting seems to be superseded by O2 when sending/receiving.

Media :: Playing A Video Transferred From PC To HTC Hero

Jan 8, 2010

I need to know if there is a way for watching .WMV videos on the HTC Hero.

I already know that it will play MPEG-4 videos without a problem (you can use the RealPlayer Video Downloader to download HQ/HD videos from places like Youtube and it automatically saves them to MPEG-4 format).

However, I want to transfer some files like music videos onto my HTC Hero and having tried several times, using the RealPlayer Converter, to convert the .mpg files to .wmv, I can't watch them on the Hero.

However, I recently looked at one of the threads (I think on a different forum) and he said that he could watch videos in WMV format using 750kbps on resolution 480x320. But RealPlayer only allows for 768kbps and resolution as 480p HD as the nearest possible (which was the setting I ordinarily chose).

The other strange thing is that when I go onto the Albums part of the phone to see if I can view any videos, it shows a thumbnail image of the music video (a preview image of the video) and when I play it, I can hear the music, but the video itself fails to appear.

Droid :: Upgrading SD Card For Motorola

Mar 6, 2010

I don't think this has been asked before in this forum, but if it has, I apologize for repeating... Just like many of you probably are, I am in need of more storage. 14 GB is evaporating fast, and I'm not sure the SD card is upgradable yet. I don't fully understand exactly what an SD card does besides provide storage (ie: does it function as a hard drive, etc). Basically, how are those who are upgrading their SD cards doing so without having to reload all your apps, re-buying apps you paid for, and having to otherwise completely set up your Droid all over again from scratch?

The Sprint Hero looks pretty solid... but I know you have to open it to replace the SD card so my question is how do I do it without ruining the molding?
