My battery charges 2x faster now than before the update last week. Today I when I got off work, my battery was at 30% (lots of usage during and work in a plant). I put my phone on the charger at 5:30 pm. It's now 6:34 pm and my battery is at 98% charged. I'm using the standard charge provided by HTC.

Indeed HTC is working on a fix for these issues, but here is what You can do to fix the application in the mean time. I was getting 2 hours "Heavy" (texting,data,wifi,high brightness) use before.I read somewhere that there it is a battery issue caused by the defaul HTC (or android, idk) application.The work around is for sms to something other than the included app as the default action for text messaging. This is accomplished installing another handcent sms or various other apps that you may find by going to the market and searching SMS.After installation go to the contacts list and send a text to a contact.A screen should pop up and ask which messaging app you would like to use. If i does not ask you, then you should go to Settings> Applications> Manage Applications> It will take a minute while your phone computes the space taken up by each app.Click Messages> and Tick Clear defaults if it is available. Viola! substantial battery boost and faster charges.you can verify that your phone is now using less power by rebooting then shut of your screen by pressing the end key wait for 1-5 mins mins without touching it now quickly settings> about phone> status all the way at the bottom your phones "Awake Time" (not up time) should be below %40 (mine is between 10-40%) day to day if this is not the case your phone has other issues and I will try my best to help you out
I have also heard that by letting you device go to sleep immidiately after turning it on it enters a weird device state that causes %100 cpu usage. though i cannot confirm this i always flip to the next screen and back a few times and check my twitter and what not to make sure.
is it possible that by having the phone in charger the battery dies faster? i have notice that when i take my phone of the charger it saids 100% and a minute later it says 99% and the percentage starts dropping from there. why is that?

View 16 Replies View RelatedAfter updating my Hero the other day I have noticed a marked decrease in battery life. This started the very next day after updating my hero.
Right now I'm at 41% of battery life left after unplugging from the charger about 9 hours ago. For the past few weeks, I have been around 65%-70% at this time of day, and I'd normally be at about 15%-20% at 10:30 when I go to bed.
Is anyone else experiencing a similar decrease in battery life after the update?
Having music junk on the phone does it kill the battery faster? and does it slow down the phone?

And after that, I have been mostly studying and not using my phone... but the second half of the batter drains, it seems like, FASTER than the first half did! No music playing, no wi-fi, no internet browsing? Is this normal? Is it just the nature of these batteries?

I plugged it in at 75%, then shut it off (just the screen, not the phone) then 30 mins later, i check its battery, and it's down to 68%.. it's not downloading or anything, just plugged, screen off. So it now discharges faster than it charges.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been a Sprint customer for a very long time. My wife and I both have smartphones and we have the Unlimited 1500 plan. To my knowledge, this includes everything (excluding International calls.....which I know for a fact thanks to an $1800 fraud that was on my bill 2 months ago). I digress, data roaming is included as a part of this plan as far as I know.
I checked my bill online yesterday, and there was an alert that I have used 3800+KB of data roaming.
Now....let me start by saying, yes, I do have the setting checked to allow for data roaming (as to my knowledge, it's included in my plan). I do have the Hero (my second one) and for the life of me, I can't figure out why it goes into roaming mode more than any other Sprint phone I've ever owned. My wife's phone could be sitting next to mine, and I'll be roaming while she is not. That being said, I can guarantee there have been instances where I've roamed and pulled down data (checking email, automatically checking weather/facebook/twitter/etc, internet) and I've never seen this alert on my account.
I called Sprint last night to question it, and they put a $20 service credit on my account. That's all fine and great, as I'm not going to turn down free money, but I had explained that my concern was that the alert is showing up to begin with. I even explained that while I appreciate the credit, I'd rather just have this situation resolved so that I don't have to call back next month if these charges appear.
My question is this, has anyone ever seen this before? I am rooted, I am running Fresh 2.1.1 and I have the latest SPRINT radio flashed from Flipz' website. I have had this setup for a little over 2 months now, so this isn't the first billing cycle that this setup has seen. I can't figure this out for the life of me.
If this continues to be a problem, it's either going to require a new device or a new carrier. I live in a very populated western suburb in Chicagoland and have NEVER had a problem with roaming or poor signal until I got the Hero in October.
I've had the phone for about 1.5 months now. I have about 70 or so apps. The phone is noticeably slow and lags a lot. Text messaging app crashes from time to time and I have to force close and loose all the texts. Should I upgrade the SD card? I've been reading about rooting the phone and about ROMs but I dont fully comprehend it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWell, I was playing with my phone today and I might have made it a faster in a few minutes. This is what I did Home - Menu -settings - Applications - Manage Applications. In this menu it shows how much memory each program is using (?), not really sure, but if you click on the program you can clear out the cache and also clear the data of the program. I cleared out all of the data and cache from the programs that I dont use (sprint TV, NFL crap, footprints, etc...). It seems like its running faster, might help for people that have been using the phone for a long time and have a build up of data just sitting there doing nothing? Let me know if this works for anyone else!

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got my Motorola Droid about 9 hours ago, and as soon as I got home I plugged it in, since it had roughly 60% charge. It has been plugged in since then, and has said "Charging (90%)" on the lock screen ever since, and the about screen confirms that the battery is charged to 90%.
I searched all over, but it appears no one else is having this issue. Should I return to Best Buy (I hate them, but I'd rather go there than wait for a mail in rebate, or for the phone to ship) and get a replacement?
I have 2 batteries for my phone, both of which show the exact same problems. The battery drains very quickly on standby (8 hours or so). It drains when off and if I turn off my phone and remove the battery for about an hour, it loses 10-20% of the battery. A lot of people told me it had something to do with the wakelock or some app but that's not what it is. Wakelock is fine and with stock apps only it still drains way to quickly. Airplane mode doesn't work either. It charges exactly as fast as it drains too.
View 6 Replies View RelatedBefore Froyo, I was able to charge my phone in my car and use the GPS. Now, with Froyo, my phone charges way too slowly. Infact, my phone actually DISCHARGES while uses the Navigation when plugged in!! I have two questions:
1. Is Froyo designed to slow charge the phone?
2. If so, it makes my GPS setup defective. How do I revert back from 2.2. to 2.1?
One thing I notice about this phone is that it takes a long time to charge. It takes at least 2-3 hours for a full charge verses about an hour for the iPhone 4 or Droid X.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy wife's phone has used almost 4GB of data this month and her battery has been draining much faster than mine, especially at night. Last night we watched in SystemPanel at the Net Receive indicator and it was constantly downloading at least 200+ kps. I had read about some issues with Facebook so we removed the Friendstream widget and saw the downloading go close to zero.
This morning, I checked the 8 hour monitoring in SystemPanel and saw that the CPU activity was still high overnight (running near 30%) and her battery drain was twice mine (over 13% used over ~7 hours, mine was around 5% drain).
I loaded up Spare Parts on her phone and was looked under Battery History, Network Usage and took this picture (sorry about the quality, her screen protector makes it hard to get a good picture and she is not rooted). Can anyone explain what UID 10006 is and why it is downloading so much data? I do not see it listed on my phone in Spare Parts. What do we need to do to turn this off or at least slow it down?
just got the Hero and I love it.My question is this,i have set my gps to off mode also mobile to off mode and wifi to on as this is where i use the internet mainly.If I set the GPS to on does that incur charges from Orange while in wifi mode or is it linked to my wifi connection.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi've just flash a new miui rom on my o2x. and i found that the battery drain much faster than it was before. last night i had 14% of battery left on my phone, and this morning it shut down due to out of battery. so i pluged in my wall charger while my phone was off. and when it showed the green fully chargeed bar i disconnected the charger and boot my phone in to CWM recovery to wipe battery stats. then i reboot the phone into android and u know what? the phone show 100% of battery only in 3 secconds and then it show 1% left. i connect the charger and the phone show that it's being charged? how can it charge a fully charged battery? and the charging speed is faster as light. it's has been charging about 15 mins now and it show 46% charged. may be google was wrong saying that batterystats.bin does not affect the measurement of battery level.

I've a few queries about my Mini Pro.
Is the battery life for the mini pro generally this sad? Or is it just my piece that's rubbish? I've noticed that my battery charges pretty fast. Sadly, it drains just as quickly. I'm yet to do a proper test on how long it lasts, as I haven't been able to keep my hands off my phone I'd hazard a guess that the battery, by regular use, wouldn't last 12 hours! I'd charged my phone fully last night. I woke up 8 hours later to see the battery indicator show 80%. 20% discharge for doing nothing? Seriously? I downloaded the Bluetooth File Transfer app, and I'm now able to send files via Bluetooth. Still haven't figured out how to receive files though. How do I send a contact from my phone to another phone? Why would Sony Ericsson not have digital zoom on it's camera?
I started a new job today, the training room somehow manages to get no service. My phone died in about 7 hours, I used it for about 10 mins total.
All weekend I got much better results, with it coming in and out of service do you think it's draining it faster? Only thing I had turned on was gps location. I would like to keep it on so I don't have to power it up on breaks and wait for any missed messages to come through.
I am sending my HTC Hero (Orange UK) back to HTC for them to tinker with it as it has had absolutely terrible reception for pretty much the entire time that i have owned it.
I had been waiting with each new OS to see if the problem would be fixed. The problem is that the signal fluctuates wildly without manipulating the phone, it will cut out whilst i am on the phone and just resting it on a table it will lose signal for perhaps a few minutes each half hour.
Spoke to Orange on the phone and they said to send it in for repairs to HTC.
Now, my phone has a two cosmetic bumps on it - one graze on the top corner and a tiny gouge on the bottom corner. These are purely cosmetic and I am sure that these have nothing to do with the problem, as it existed before those accidents.
I guess what I am looking for are your experiences with HTC repairs - are they the sort of firm who look for any excuse to claim that you caused the damage and void your warranty?
If they do claim that the signal problem is my fault, is the burden on me to prove that I did not cause it, or them to prove that I did?
I ended up buying a Behold 2 off of ebay (new) and I still sort of have a battery problem after reading and doing most of the tips on here. My phone charged overnight and has been unplugged on standby since 7am (now 2pm) and the battery is at 74%. Is this normal? WiFi/BT/GPS are all disabled, I always kill unnecessary tasks with taskiller but still, any other suggestions?
Also: it's some cool stuff you guys are doing with the galaxy ROM; I tried rooting it last night but got $ when I typed in su instead of #. Oh well, I can wait until the galaxy ROM is 100% working, afaik the vibration still isn't. With classes picking up again next week, vibrate would be my only setting.
