Oct 16, 2012My google playstore forced closed as soon as it starts downloading. I am rooted n I think I've mistakenly delete some playstore files. Without market I can't update anything.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Forced Close Error On Messaging Widget
Dec 22, 2009I am getting a forced close error everytime I try to remove the HTC Messaging widget from one of my screens. I tap and hold down on the widget to select it so I can move it to the "remove" button at the bottom of the screen. Well when I tap and hold I get a forced error close message. Any ideas what I need to do to correct this issue. I'm using the original messaging app, and only have 3 other non related apps downloaded.

Sprint HTC Hero : Get Swype Beta Even Though It's Closed?
Jul 20, 2010I just got a Sprint Hero and I'm coming from Palm phones that always had physical keyboards. At this point in time--I've had it for about a week--it's frustrating beyond words to peck away on the virtual keyboard, slow as molasses, with about as much accuracy as a two year old trying to spell.
I know Swype would help immensely. Is there any way to get it even though the beta is closed? Would begging and bribing the makers of swype help? I really want a virtual keyboard for a number of reasons, but the stock keyboard on the Hero is terrible.
Sprint HTC Hero :: Black Screen Appear When Programs Closed
Mar 17, 2010I just removed advance task killer and a few other apps that were slowing me down. Now, when I hit the back button to go to the home screen the screen turns black with the HTC text like it does at boot up. This happens every time I leave an application. I am rooted at the moment though I have not done anything else other than that. Should I reset this to factory specs? Also the headset jack is not detecting earphones which it was up until today.

For example, the following programs were pre-installed:

Footprints
Teeter
And maybe some others.
I've just tried:
Settings | Applications | Manage Apps
And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.
Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?
Is there any way to remove the pre-installed Sprint programs?
Sprint TV
Sprint-Nextel
NFL
Nascar
Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.
HTC EVO 4G : Delete Apps I Forced To SD Card?
Nov 27, 2010Some of you might have seen my posts over the past few days indicating that I just rooted my phone a couple days ago.
Well, I began fooling around and I ALREADY caused a BIG PROBLEM!!
GOOD news is that I backed up and was able to recover using my Clockworkmod recovery option so I'm up and running.
Here's my problem...I installed Move2SD Enabler to free up some space on my phone and move apps to my SD card. I must have gotten a little overzealous and moved stuff I shouldn't have. I'm tried to be selective with what I moved but SOMETHING(s) I moved the phone apparently did not like.
What happened was I some shortcuts on my home screens yielded a message that the app "could not be found" or "was not installed." When I went to the app drawer, the apps I moved to the SD card were NOT showing up in the app drawer list. Then I launched "Manage Applications" the apps I moved on the SD card were listed but only with the package name (e.g., com.something.whatever) and with a generic dark-grey icon with a little "SD" in the bottom right corner. I could not launch any of the moved apps and also could not connect to the Market to reinstall!
Anyway, I fixed my problem with a Recovery.
What I want and feel I NEED to do now is to find All the apps I moved to the SD card and delete them so they do not cause a conflict (and, to just get them off my card).
Can someone tell me (1) where to find the apps I moved to the SD card?? and (2) how to find their location either using my computer (Mac) or Astro file manager so I can delete what I moved.
I am STABLE now and functioning with my backup...just what to get rid of the remnants that caused me problems!=
Android :: Need App For Keeping Apps Closed?
May 19, 2010Let me start off my saying I searched this topic before I posted. I am constantly closing apps with them being restarted and I'm not opening them like Music, alarm clock, Amazon mp3 store, moxier mail, etc. The only one I actually use from time to time is music but they open on there own. Is there an app or setting to change this?

Dec 22, 2009Does anyone know if the upcoming Android 2.1 update to the Sprint Hero will allow us to save apps to the SD card without having to root the phone? And also, some things to think about: remember that the Hero only runs class 2 speeds, even if the card is class 6. Do you think this will change once we receive Android 2.1? Because if not, I would imagine that the phone would be slow opening apps (assuming apps to SD will be available).I know that if they do program the Hero to allow class 6 speeds, and allow apps to SD (without root) then the Hero could run MUCH faster than it does now.

There's a couple more that I'd have liked to donate to, but doesn't seem very easy at the moment. Perhaps there should be something in the settings menu for most applications which automatically links to a place for users to donate.

I'm trying to find FlightTrack and I'm told "There are no matches in Android Market for the search: flighttrack." When I go to the developer's site and scan the 2D barcode and follow the link I'm told "There are no matches in Android Market for the search: pname:com.mobiata.flighttrack"
The developer is talking to Google about it. In the meantime, can some of my fellow Hero owners who took the recent update see if they can see FlightTrack in the Market and report it here? Then I'll know that the problem is either limited to my phone or is a general one for Heros.

Oct 30, 2009Tethering - using PdaNet, works flawlessly. I have used it on forums and to watch videos. I am getting speeds between 1.5 and 2.0, not bad at all.
NESoid - works great, just make sure the background apps aren't running. Use the search and back buttons for A and B.
Apps - I switched from the iPhone 3Gs and found that any usable App from the App Store can be found in the Android Market.
I have not had any of the problems listed. All I have done is replace the messaging app with handcent's. I do a soft reset every now and again, but that is all the changes I have made.
Sprint and Android together = Awesome - I pay $60 a month with my discount and get unlimited to any mobile, 450 land line minutes, unlimited data and text message.

Jun 29, 2010Ever since 2.1 my HERO has been pretty laggy. lots of problems with keyboard lag, opening texts, swiping panes, etc. (never had problems with 1.5)Despite many detailed posts to the contrary, I DLed a task killer, and when I boot the phone and check the task killer it lists multiple apps as running! On a startup the task killer indicates that amazon MP#3 store, footprints (what the hell is that?!) astro file manager and many others are open right from the start.anyone know what's causing this, and how I can stop it? I can't seem to delete the stupid amazon MP3 store either...
