View 33 RepliesIs there any way to remove pre-installed programs?
For example, the following programs were pre-installed:
Amazon MP3
Footprints
Teeter
And maybe some others.
I've just tried:
Settings | Applications | Manage Apps
And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.
Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?
Is there any way to remove the pre-installed Sprint programs?
Sprint TV
Sprint-Nextel
NFL
Nascar
Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.
Is anyone aware of a listing of apps that require Android 2.1 to run (e.g. apps like Google Goggles, etc.)? I've searched the threads here at Android Forums and elsewhere and haven't been able to find such a list or site.
Now that I upgraded to 2.1, I'd like to "see what I've been missing" and take advantage of the new OS.
Im sure it is posted somewhere, but I just can't seem to find it.How does one go about uninstalling Sprint bloatware on a rooted phone?

View 34 Replies View RelatedAs a Sprint Hero user, could I download any of the free voicemail apps to use with the hero? Are there any better ones than the preinstalled voicemail app? Is there any setup involved or do you just download any voicemail app, disable the built in one and you're ready to go?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do you uninstall the apps from sprint? I did not see an easy way to do this under applications in settings? A lot of these apps I do not want, but certain ones do not want to uninstall. Any ideas?
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to put the Sprint apps on the SD card post rooting, and if so, is there anywhere I could look for a walk-through or some pointers?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, I installed the N1 News and Weather App and find it to be awesome!
My question...are there any other apps from the N1 or other android phones that will work on the Hero?
Does anyone know if the upcoming Android 2.1 update to the Sprint Hero will allow us to save apps to the SD card without having to root the phone? And also, some things to think about: remember that the Hero only runs class 2 speeds, even if the card is class 6. Do you think this will change once we receive Android 2.1? Because if not, I would imagine that the phone would be slow opening apps (assuming apps to SD will be available).I know that if they do program the Hero to allow class 6 speeds, and allow apps to SD (without root) then the Hero could run MUCH faster than it does now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe great thing about android is that a lot of the apps in the market are free. It's wonderful to have the opportunity to try and use so many useful/entertaining bits of software. However I also recognise that money makes the world go round and in order to support developers then those that can afford to make the contribution should do the honorable thing.I'm just about to receive my first paycheque since the christmas holidays and I think its about time to upgrade to the paying version or donate to the developer of various apps that I've been using for about a month. So here's my list of apps which I'm going to be giving my hard earned money to.Robotic Guitarist - guitar app 0.99 Euro Solo - another guitar app 1.50 music online - music $7.99. There's a couple more that I'd have liked to donate to, but doesn't seem very easy at the moment. Perhaps there should be something in the settings menu for most applications which automatically links to a place for users to donate.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI just picked up a some blue-tooth headphones, and was wondering how I can delete the stock music app! It's not playing nice with Meridian! I am rooted and all that good stuff if that helps! I tried using pre-kitchen but did not see the app listed!

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust wondering if any apps I have installed now might stop working on 2.1. Or is pretty much everything backward compatible with no updates required?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMaybe I'm the only one, but I can't find something that the developer says is there. I'm trying to find FlightTrack and I'm told "There are no matches in Android Market for the search: flighttrack." When I go to the developer's site and scan the 2D barcode and follow the link I'm told "There are no matches in Android Market for the search: pname:com.mobiata.flighttrack"
The developer is talking to Google about it. In the meantime, can some of my fellow Hero owners who took the recent update see if they can see FlightTrack in the Market and report it here? Then I'll know that the problem is either limited to my phone or is a general one for Heros.
Atrack Dog doesn't work too well in 2.1. I have 2.1 and the OTA patch for it. What is the best app updater now in 2.1? I like staying on top of the versions for the applications in my hero. What are you guys using.
View 2 Replies View RelatedTethering - using PdaNet, works flawlessly. I have used it on forums and to watch videos. I am getting speeds between 1.5 and 2.0, not bad at all.
NESoid - works great, just make sure the background apps aren't running. Use the search and back buttons for A and B.
Apps - I switched from the iPhone 3Gs and found that any usable App from the App Store can be found in the Android Market.
I have not had any of the problems listed. All I have done is replace the messaging app with handcent's. I do a soft reset every now and again, but that is all the changes I have made.
Sprint and Android together = Awesome - I pay $60 a month with my discount and get unlimited to any mobile, 450 land line minutes, unlimited data and text message.
Ever since 2.1 my HERO has been pretty laggy. lots of problems with keyboard lag, opening texts, swiping panes, etc. (never had problems with 1.5)Despite many detailed posts to the contrary, I DLed a task killer, and when I boot the phone and check the task killer it lists multiple apps as running! On a startup the task killer indicates that amazon MP#3 store, footprints (what the hell is that?!) astro file manager and many others are open right from the start.anyone know what's causing this, and how I can stop it? I can't seem to delete the stupid amazon MP3 store either...

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhy isn't my apps installing to my SD card? Everytime I install an app, I see my internal storage free space decreasing. Is there a way to see if they're installing to SD?My phone is rooted with A2SD installed and I have a ext3 384MB ext3 partition. Am I missing something?Nevermind I figured it out, apps are indeed installing to SD, the reason why internal storage is decreasing is because of cache and other system data.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI reset my Hero last night after I went on a APP downloading spree and my Hero got very laggy. Think it may have been the Task manager apps.
After resetting my apps won't download. They just stay in 'starting download'...hanging. Any ideas?
Everything else is fine as far as I can tell....Oh other than my keyboard sometimes produces an abnormal sound when hitting a key. Call me picky but it's starting to get on my nerves. That's something that did not go away with the reset.
I doubt it but it's worth a shot. Is it possible to have a different volume assigned to each app by use of a setting or app? I like plugging my phone into my car speakers and playing pandora while using gps. The only problem is that the music overpowers the gps voice. It would be nice to be able to lower the pandor app volume and raise the gps voice volume.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI use Advanced Task Manager because I love the one-click closes all feature.
My problem: Why are there so many apps opened/running in the background when I haven't even touched my phone?
Is there a way to stop them from running until I use them?
Apps like Sprint Nav automatically runs. I haven't touched it in days, the GPS is off. This is just an example.
I constantly see the same apps opening throughout the day. I think I have narrowed it down to when I get a text message it opens up a few other things. I have installed Handcent and disabled the stock message app i think. I have closed all apps and recieved a text and here is what opens everytime. Voice Dialer, com.coremobility.app.vnotes, sprint navigation, and still the Messages app opens even though it comes through Handcent.
