Is there a way of downloading or getting apps available in the 1.6 and greater market, to run on 1.5?
I'm not sure what to do about this, I'm running cyanogenmod6 nightly build-87 (10-11-10). I have on gapps mdpi 10-8-10 and the froyo mms fix. My phones info is
Baseband version: 2.42.01.04.27
Kernel version: 2.6.29.6-cyanogenmodameer@darchstar #3
Build number: FRG83
What I don't understand is that I have internet connection, I'm actually posting this from my phone, but yet when I try downloading mms messages it lights up my 3g arrows and then says message download unsuccessful. Iv tryed using stock messaging app and handcent and its the same for both. Iv tryed updating permissions and I know my phone is compatable to open the message because I even tried sending myself a ringtone, it sent. But then I couldn't receive it. Any suggestions on how to fix this? And if not maybe I could try going back to a rom that allows me to update prl and profile? But I can't find one of those either.
Up until yesterday, I've had no problem with downloading anything from android market, but now its seems nothing will work for me. I can access all the apps easily enough but when it comes to downloading them it won't work. I'm using my home WiFi connection. I'm also no where near my data allowance from orange. Anyone else had any problems?

When I talked to sprint they did tell me that there were some towers out in my area. ..Just wanted to throw that out there for people who have this problem with no solutions.
View 26 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to remove pre-installed programs?
For example, the following programs were pre-installed:
Amazon MP3
Footprints
Teeter
And maybe some others.
I've just tried:
Settings | Applications | Manage Apps
And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.
Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?
Is there any way to remove the pre-installed Sprint programs?
Sprint TV
Sprint-Nextel
NFL
Nascar
Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.
I'm a new HTC Hero owner - just bought the phone yesterday. I have downloaded apps from the Android Market, but last night and today, my phone will get into a state where I will select an app to download, it will tell me to watch the notification bar for download status, and nothing will happen. If I select the app in the store to look at the download progress, it just says: "downloading...." with the animated bar, but never downloads. I tried turning off the phone and turning it back on, and that seemed to correct the problem for one download, but then subsequent downloads won't start up. I have barely installed any apps on it, and I'm not really sure what the problem is. Is this a known issue with the Android Market, or do I have something wrong with my phone? Has anyone else encountered this and know why it's happening?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've tried searching for a thread to help me with this and can't seem to find one. My mms will not download to my phone. The messages come through but will not finish downloading or open. I have uninstalled handcent which I thought may have been a problem and it corrected it for 1 mms then I am back to square 1. My internal memory has 87mb left and I've deleted all apps I don't use.
I have tried deleting all messages in the phone by batch mode and it either freezes up or gives me force close to what looks like the mms program. I am trying to avoid a hard reset because we all know how much of a pain to reinstall everything is. I am starting to get really fed up with the phone because for the money I paid, I expect much better. As much as I dislike Apple products, I can see why people rave about their products - they don't have these problems. (*sssshhh don't tell Apple fanboys I said that)
I've had the issue of not being able to download MMS messages for the last few months after a few trouble free months with the Hero. It's the only problem I have with the phone. I'm wondering if anyone who had this issue has since rooted and had the problem be resolved from that. I'm on the fence about rooting. I'm generally happy with the phone as it stands. And as a long time Mac user, I'm nervous about messing around with the internal stuff. And all the rooting tutorials seem to be for the Windows user.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I first installed Handcent, whenever someone sent me a pic it just popped right up on my screen. No action needed on my part to open a file or anything.
About 2 days ago it started sending these "Download" boxes instead. I press the box that is in the txt msg and it reads "downloading".
Two Questions:
1. Where do those pix download to?
2. Sometimes it says "unable to download"..... now what?! It doesn't tell me why it cannot download the pic.
I have not had any luck previwing or downloading attachements using the google app. I try to view a simple jpg, ppt, or mp4 but the phone gets stuck at fetching attachment. Does the SD card need to be formatted under android for it to work properly? I just took it out of my windows mobile and popped it straight into the hero.
View 3 Replies View RelatedEveryone I tried to download an attachment from my Exchange email account, it shows a little clock icon spinning, then after a few seconds it stops and gives back an error: "Alert: Network Error". I tried to change the setting to various settings (such as downloading size, attachment download location, etc.) to no avail. I was able to download the same attachment from my gmail account so this seems to be exchange server mail related.
I have a Sprint HTC Hero phone with Fresh 1.0 ROM loaded. I am not sure if this is Fresh related but I vaguely remembered that I was able to download attachment before but I am not sure.
i cleared some apps and low memory went away but now its back and i didnt dwld anything. also, why is it when people send me pics in mms it has a download button and than doesnt doenload it when i click on it. why cant it be simple like all my other phones and just pop up the pic when received. keep pushing me to iphone, soon i will have no choice. windows is also pushing me to a mac.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to download a ringtone onto my phone (which apparently gets downloaded to my sd card under download) but its saying I have no available space. Its a 2 gig mem card and i have 1.7 gigs left on it thats completely free. And my phone has 99mb of internal memory free. So a few hundred kb ringtone should not be saying this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, I installed the N1 News and Weather App and find it to be awesome!
My question...are there any other apps from the N1 or other android phones that will work on the Hero?
Does anyone know if the upcoming Android 2.1 update to the Sprint Hero will allow us to save apps to the SD card without having to root the phone? And also, some things to think about: remember that the Hero only runs class 2 speeds, even if the card is class 6. Do you think this will change once we receive Android 2.1? Because if not, I would imagine that the phone would be slow opening apps (assuming apps to SD will be available).I know that if they do program the Hero to allow class 6 speeds, and allow apps to SD (without root) then the Hero could run MUCH faster than it does now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe great thing about android is that a lot of the apps in the market are free. It's wonderful to have the opportunity to try and use so many useful/entertaining bits of software. However I also recognise that money makes the world go round and in order to support developers then those that can afford to make the contribution should do the honorable thing.I'm just about to receive my first paycheque since the christmas holidays and I think its about time to upgrade to the paying version or donate to the developer of various apps that I've been using for about a month. So here's my list of apps which I'm going to be giving my hard earned money to.Robotic Guitarist - guitar app 0.99 Euro Solo - another guitar app 1.50 music online - music $7.99. There's a couple more that I'd have liked to donate to, but doesn't seem very easy at the moment. Perhaps there should be something in the settings menu for most applications which automatically links to a place for users to donate.
