View 3 RepliesI am curious because I backed up my original stock ROM with all of my apps and all that sprint junk, and now I would like to backup the custom ROM with a bunch of the sprint bloat removed. However I would like to have the option to go back to either of them.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am turning my Hero in for a new EVO and I had information in my Google Voice account that I do not want anyone at the office to be able to dig up...
I performed a factory reset (per the manual) and I want to be 110% sure that no one will be able to "resurrect" my old Google Voice app and see anything...
Not sure how to do this. Unfortunately it's not as easy as erasing them from a my es file manager. I'm trying to get rid of the standard music player (Rock On from SlideMe is still a tad glitchy, but it's mostly fantastic for it's ineffable ability to land artwork for every album and the last.fm tour finder) and also Sprint Navigation (pointless with Google Maps).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried searching for this answer but didn't find quite what I was looking for. I have a file that I recorded with Voice Recorder app. It is saved as a .AMR file. I'd like to use this as a ringtone and send it to my wife to use on her PRE as a ringtone as well. I assume that I have to get it to a more usable format, like .MP3. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to do this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThose temp files? Also, Which recovery image can I delete now?
View 3 Replies View RelatedBeen searching but cant find a clear cut answer.
Once I've installed an .apk file, can I delete that .apk file off my SD card? Will it still function properly?
This is probably something really simple but I'm curious how to view the files on your SD card from the phone.I had a PDF file on mine that I wanted to delete but I didn't want to format the entire card.I know I'm probably being a knuckle head but I just can't figure it out.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got a new 8GB SDHC card for my phone. I copied over all the folders that were in my old memory card and created an additional folder called 'music' and added a few mp3 files in there. When I try up the phone and look under music I do not see the new song files. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what I might me doing wrong here?

I have the apk files for both I have fresh pre-kitchen 0.2 and I get an error when trying to push files and can't see the files I want to pull with it. So I guess what my question is how and what is the best way to push and pull files onto the phone?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been havng trouble emailing pictures with my HTC hero ("unable to send mail" notices) and wonder if others have had similar experiences. The problem seems to be worse with anything greater than the lowest resolution. Even 400kbyte pictures are a problem. I assume this is just a file transfer problem, not a camera app problem (the app from which the file is mailed). Mails w/o attachments go thru 100% of the time.
I spoke with someone at sprint today, and the first thing they told me was that I need to have at least three bars of signal strength, then I was told that higher resolution pictures can't be sent from the hero.
Given that Sprint does not have more that two bars in most of northern new jersey, this is a bit of a problem. If this is true, I don't think they should be calling this a data service.
For the most part, internet browsing and even video like youtube and TED work fine, and most the time I can get an EVDO connection.
Playing with it a bit, it looks to me like the issue is maintaining a solid data link to upload the file. I'd expect better with a TCP/IP connection, as I've had some experience designing that sort of thing. Late at night, if I get two bars and set the phone down so the signal strength does not waver, I can generally send even a 5 mpixel picture that's nearly 1000k.
I've tried this with the mail set to allow up to 1000k transfers and with no limit on transfer size, and that has no effect.
Some specific questions I have are:
1) Are others having this problem?
2) Anybody have a solution?
3) Anybody notice if it's network congestion related?
4) Anybody know anything about messing with the TCP/IP settings like timeouts and retrys to hold a connection on a spotty rf network?
Does anyone have the original preloaded files on their memory card that came with their phone? I accidentally erased them all and I'm looking to replace it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was using Astro and i found the folder on the Hero that has all the boot images, sounds, and animations. i was trying to create my own custom animations and put them in there to replace the others. Well when i try to copy the files into the folder it says i have insufficient permission so i was wondering if anyone knew of a way around that without rooting or something like that!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've flashed different .zip files to my hero, gaps, froyo mms fix, market fix etc. You get the point But I'm wondering how i can view a list of all the things iv flashed. Iv made many changes to my phone and would like to see what is currently flashed to my device. And also i was wondering if there's a way to unflash this stuff and if not what will get rid of it? Because i have no backups. They were all messed up and got deleted

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an unlocked HTC Hero from Telus and I have a Fido SIM card in it.Everything works fine except for GMail, Android Market, gChat etc.I cannot connect to them it gives my this message every time "This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services."In order to solve this problem do I need to reset the phone? and if so, will doing so erase my unlock code that I entered?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter a hard reset on my first Hero, the factory/system wallpaper files disappeared. Thereafter, I was unable to set the background for the lock screen to anything but the default. When I go to set lock screen background, the device reports "no media found".
Now that I have another Hero, I would like to backup those 22 factory background/wallpaper files.
1) Is that possible? If so, how? Does it require me to root the device so I can actually "copy out" the files?
2) Does there exist a backup software that can do a full system file backup? If so, please recommend one.
3) I have seen several file manager-like applications. Do any of these applications browse system files and allow one to copy them? (Is rooting reqired)?
4) Does anyone have copies of the system/default wallpapers? If so, will you please zip them up and post it here?
5) WHY did the pictures disappear after a hard reset? If they are part of the ROM, why did they not return after a reset?
Is it possible that someone who still has 1.5 on their Hero to copy all the needed files for the COMPLETE boot sequence and post it so I can download it? Someone has already posted the HERO logo with the android waving but I would like the whole boot loop.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've checked related posts and this question specifically pertains to the HTC Hero Sprint CDMA phone. Before connecting my phone to my PC desktop computer, I want to verify if this is the correct method: Question May simply connect my USB cable from my HTC Hero into my USB drive into my PC desktop? Will this pop-up the files, directly, etc? May I simply Copy/Paste the file(s) (pictures, etc.) into a file on my PC desktop hard drive? Is there simply a folder with my Micro-SD card files? Are there any other folders of files, etc. that may be on my phone which may be copied as well (i.e., Apps, etc.)? It's interesting to note that if an iPhone or iPod Touch is ever lost or misplaced, everything is backed up on iTunes on an external device. I suppose if I lose my phone, I'll have to start over. Correct? Or is there a way to backup Scenes, downloaded apps, customizations, etc.?
View 4 Replies View Relatedafter installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have read a couple of threads that touched on this ring issue, but was unable to find any that had a solution or work around.Since the 2.1 update and the OTA update, many times when an incoming call comes, the phone doesn't ring. If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings. If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?
