Feb 28, 2010I have an unlocked HTC Hero from Telus and I have a Fido SIM card in it.Everything works fine except for GMail, Android Market, gChat etc.I cannot connect to them it gives my this message every time "This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services."In order to solve this problem do I need to reset the phone? and if so, will doing so erase my unlock code that I entered?

Aug 2, 2013I wanted to create a new account on a game but the game keep remembering me so I can't create a new account.
Basically I been playing Valkyrie Crusade and I want to start all over. When I install/reinstall the game, it auto logs in with my account. Even when I did factory reset(erase data on SD card also) on my phone, it still auto logs in with my account so I can't create a new account. I factory reset, download game from app store, install app and game still recognize this phone's account.
So yeah, just wondering if there's a way to completely resets it.

Aug 3, 2010If I hard reset my phone, does that erase the SD card back to factory too? I need to know so I can backup everything on the sd to my desktop first if necessary. And one more question, how do I hard reset my phone to get it back to factory settings. Also, what will happen to my paid apps? I actually paid for Beautiful Widget and when I restore, I don't want to use the same Gmail to set up my contacts as before cuz that account gets too much spam.

Motorola Droid :: Phone Making Noises And Factory Reset Won't Erase / Resolve It?
Jun 20, 2010So we've had the Droid since November, I used it, no problems, then it got passed down to my technologically challenged husband after he "accidentally" broke his flip phone in half.
He put some apps on it, and now it's constantly making sounds confirming every action, despite making sure that was unchecked in settings. (It's quiet when he has media volume turned off, but then he has to manually turn it back on every time he wants to play a game or watch a video.)
I factory reset once, and it was fine, then he put all the same apps back on it, and it started up again. I have now done three more resets, and not only is it not going away, but his same wallpaper keeps coming back, despite it not showing anywhere in the phone's internal memory through Astro, and making sure I had the memory card taken out while resetting. Not only that, but when I attempt to mount the phone to the computer, the memory card shows up, but not the internal memory.
Did he get a virus? Does anyone have any other ideas of how to resolve this?

All my phone contacts are gone. My apps are gone, but I can just redownload them. I know that I did not hit the reset button combo. Does anyone know what/why this happened? And is there any way to get my contacts back? My phone is rooted with Fresh 1.1 and Gumbo kernel with Set CPU.

Jun 2, 2010I was having a bunch of issues with crashes, lag, bluetooth, and 100% awake time. And now they're gone. The only thing is - I don't know why. And my past experience with the hero is that issues you think are dealt with, sneak back in when you least expect it. I was experiencing issues even after I wiped my phone, then installed the official Sprint Rom (replacing the leak). Then I hard shut the phone down and was going to hard reset it again. But first, I swapped batteries. Then did a hard reset. Does anyone know if taking the battery out could have had any effect at all? I don't want to start an old wives tale about the phone if there's really no technical reason this should have done anything.
Whatever the case, I've re-installed all the apps I was using before. I've run every single program I could to see if there were any that would crash - and so far nothing has. I had WiFi and mobile network turned out, my bluetooth connected and was using Google Maps without any problems. I have yet to experience the landscape keyboard lag that everyone else is talking about. The phone can still be a bit sluggish here and there - it seems especially when I have my bluetooth headset connected, the phone can take a couple of seconds to make a call when I push on an picture in the "people" widget. But honestly - that seems to be the only complaint I have and I've been pushing the phone really hard trying to replicate old problems or find new ones.

Jul 6, 2010Ok, probably been talked about but it's very annoying. I have the 2.1 update and the firmware update that came a week ago. I like that they fixed the keyboard vibrate problem(where it would vibrate long once, and then every other vibration would be half the length) but the lag is still unbearable. How come the iPhone perfected the touch screen and when HTC made the Hero(years later), it comes out worse? I can't type as fast as on an iPhone, nor can I make calls fast enough. Why does it always take so long for the phone to go into "call mode"? Even though I have no programs running in the background it is slow as balls. I'll reset the phone and delete all my text messages. The keyboard is unresponsive for fast typers. I'll tap a button and it will lag and act as if I held it and puts a symbol instead. Anyone else suffer from this problem?

Mar 16, 2013I have been flashing custom ROMs recently and I like to clean flash a new version each time.
I have a Verizon Galaxy S3.
I use CWM Recovery, when I want to erase everything before flashing a new ROM, I "wipe data/factory reset" 3 times, then wipe cache, then wipd Davlik. I then flash the new ROM.
I havent been having any problems with any of the new ROMs.
But after I flash a new ROM and got into my phone's internal SD card storage, all my old files are still there. Any photos I stored, files Ive downloaded via web browser, voice recording files, they're all still there. I understand that factory reset usually doesn't affect the external SD card, but my internal SD card isn't wiped either.
Is this normal? Is it ok to leave these old files there when flashing a new ROM or should I be trying to absolutely get rid of everything prior to fllashing a new ROM?

Mar 4, 2010I did some searching in the forums and could not find an answer to this. I realize it's not a major problem but it is something that is driving me nuts. This is my first Android phone and I just got it, was previously using WinMo. In my email I was able to set it so that when I was viewing an email and decided to delete it while viewing it, I would go directly back to the inbox but my Hero automatically goes to the next email on all accounts. How or can I change this?
Also, is there a way to set email so that I have a choice of which email I want to open by a list (similar to an account picker?)

Aug 18, 2010I just got a replacement DX due to random reboots.I read around on the forums that a factory reset would remove any custom themes as well as remove any signs of root.I was unable to achieve either with a factory reset and had to manually install the stock theme files, unroot, and then factory reset. Is this normal? Or was my factory reset not working properly?Is there a way to get back to "out of the box" without having to manually reinstall a stock theme and unroot?

May 20, 2010OK, so why do I not see anyone else commenting on this? I have owned several cell phones in the past that needed updates. NONE of these phones ever needed to be backed up prior to updating because an update resets your phone. STUPID! I simply don't have the time to do so and then try to reset up my phone the way I spent so much time doing the first time. This update should be available on the settings menu and definitely should not require backup.
