I have my phone coming tomorrow. I have done some research and I have downloaded the latest HTC sync and drivers for my windows 7. I have downloaded a few utilities as well. Anything in particular that I need to do to with the phone or any applications that have to be installed first? Also what file format does it use on the microSD card? Is it a linux format?

I did a search and couldn't find anything on this.I am still using the stock 2GB microSD card, and looking to root. Can I root with my current card (which has 650MB-ish available), and after rooting just purchase a new card and swap it out. Or would it be more advantageous to purchase the new SD card prior to rooting?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI went and bought a new 8gb microsd card today, tired of not having enough music to get me through the day. Now, when I connect via USB, I get the normal options to mount and everything. When I choose to mount, the notification shows the option to turn off USB storage, but then just goes to preparing SD card and then I have the option to mount again. I thought that maybe it was the card, but now even with my original card, the same exact thing happens. The phone will read both cards, and both cards can be read in the computer. I also reformatted the 8gb, with the same result. Obviously I need to try another computer, but just curious if anyone has any thoughts. I have seen some people with other issues close to this, but not seeming to find the same issue occurring. btw, my phone is stock.

I have see others stating that a Class 4 or even Class 6 card on the Euro HTC Hero has improved performance by 400%. Now while I know "400%" is a little out there and even sounds exaggerated, I am curious what this group of people has seen or heard. Does a better MicroSD card improve overall performance?

I know how to flash the ROM back to the Stock, but, how do I re-format/prepare my MicroSD card in the phone back to it's factory settings?
And is there anything else that anyone thinks I will need to do in preparation for selling it?
Can you format the card while it's still in the phone and the phone is on? Not from recovery, but just by mounting the card and formatting it through your computer?

View 19 Replies View RelatedI have a HTC Desire (great) but I wanna upgrade the stock 4GB MicroSD to a 16GB so I can get all my music on there (and hopefully more apps if Google can get it done). I went ahead and ordered a class 2 16GB card because I didn't have a lot to spend. My question is what are the advantages of a faster SD card such as a class 6? Is it just quicker file transfers or is their a significant increase in loading times or something else?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to put my 6000+ mp3 collection on a 64GB microSD card (class10) and I can transfer them fine on my computer but when I go to view the folder on my phone it says there is nothing in it while my pictures folder (3GB) on the same card on the same phone shows everything fine. Using stock Android 4.1.2 on LG Optimus Pro G. Am I hitting some subfolder limitation or something?

I get the following error when trying to take pictures on my HTC Hero (Sprint) "Unable to save file to SD card due to insufficient file permissions" I have removed and replaced the card. It will work for about 15 minutes then the same error. I also backed up everything and formatted the card. It worked again for about 15 minutes then the same error.

This weekend I was visiting some friends I haven't seen in a long time, we had a few beers and then got a bright idea. My friend has a work phone with an 8GB MicroSD card that he doesn't use. So, we swapped memory cards. Now I'm 4 states away and just now realized that I should have copied the folders onto the new card. Anyone have a zip file with the "stock" folders and info for these phones? I tried searching but it seems I have a rather unique twist to a common issue.

On the iPHONE, I am trying to figure out if I want the new iTOUCH or the new iPHONE. The problem is, the decision is dependent on my HTC Hero.I like the Hero, but it just feels like something is "Lacking" or "Missing." But I can't explain it.I have read on these forums here and there about how people have rooted there phone and how amazing it works and is compared to the official firmware out there.I don't know much about rooting when it comes to Android. It has been about 30 minutes and it still says 0% at erasing user data. Bu the dots are still moving as if it is working, just nothing has happened otherwise... I have not touched the phone or cord or anything of the like....is this normal? The phone itself just shows the HTC logo with a black background like it does on startup. Im worried. I have all my texts/pictures/apps/contacts backed up already, but should i just let it sit like this overnight or what....
