I have a MP3 file I want to download from my Gmail account to my SD card, for the life of me I cannot get it to download, it shows preview but no option to download and save, am I missing something here ?

So you really just browse to Unlocker in your phone, download that file, run it, and you're rooted? It just cannot be that easy. Going to attempt it tomorrow. Nothing else to download? Nothing else to do? It just cannot be that easy. I got my Hero for $100 from a guy at Craigslist because he updated to an Evo so that he could use it as a router. Perfect condition and screen. Moving on from Windows Deadbile. On 10/1 I get to add Android to my Hero But I found I can use the marketplace and do everything but place calls without the phone being activated so I'm going to play with it Wed and Thurs (and I get my Otterbox Defender Wed)
View 5 Replies View RelatedSorry if this has been discussed on here before but I did search for about 20 minutes and found nothing relating to what I am experiencing. I get the following error when trying to take pictures on my HTC Hero (Sprint) "Unable to save file to SD card due to insufficient file permissions" I have removed and replaced the card. It will work for about 15 minutes then the same error. I also backed up everything and formatted the card. It worked again for about 15 minutes then the same error.

I read somewhere about booting into recovery and partitioning my sd card from ext2 to ext3 or something like that, but when I go into recovery I don't see that option.
I'm new to rooting and i just downloaded the fresh 2.4 rom for my cdma hero. do i put whole zip file on card or just the image. and where on the sd card should it go. i have already rooted.

This weekend I was visiting some friends I haven't seen in a long time, we had a few beers and then got a bright idea. My friend has a work phone with an 8GB MicroSD card that he doesn't use. So, we swapped memory cards. Now I'm 4 states away and just now realized that I should have copied the folders onto the new card. Anyone have a zip file with the "stock" folders and info for these phones? I tried searching but it seems I have a rather unique twist to a common issue.

Do anyone have a file in the root directory of your SD card named search.trace? I have one that is about 8.5 megs. I took a look at it but it didn't look like the entries were specific to a particular app. Looks like some system log. Anyone know if there would be a problem deleting it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedEmailed myself an excel file. I have already installed Shead Spreet Pro (excel editor). After I opened up the email in gmail, I previewed the excel file (wouldn't/couldn't use Shead Spreet) but could not download it to the phone.
The more I use this phone the more I feel helpless using gmail.
You can't search all gmail accounts at once...etc...etc.
You have to so many gmail limitation, I can't believe how much better my Blackberry took care of gmail.
I have a video file on a website in .MP4 format and I want to allow the user to be able to download the video to their SD card by clicking a link. Is there an easy way to do this. I currently have this code but its not working...not sure what I am doing wrong.

I'm trying to download a large .zip file from a web server but I have a weird behaviour, the description is:
- I'm executing the code in the device emulator, API level 3 (version 1.5) with an SD card of 512MB. I start the device with "Wipe data user"
- The length of the size from conexion.getContentLength() is 7012725
- The server address is localhost (10.0.2.2), but I've tried with an external server and the behaviour is the same. I've double checked that I can download the file through a web browser.
- I have these permisions in the manifest file:

The error:
- It starts downloading the file, I can see the text 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and then it stops at 60. - After a while, the emulator reboots itself.
Workarounds:
- About the possible wifi lock, what I've done is add this permission "android.permission.WAKE_LOCK" and then this piece of code, but with exactly the same behaviour:

I am having problems when i recieve a photo in a text message, sometimes it will auto download but then it stops after a couple of days and i just get a message saying download unsuccessful. I have taken it in and had the phone re set but i want to know if there is another way to fix this problem from happening i am tired of loosing every thing or not getting my pics.

Its been perfectly fine since I installed it over a month ago, but recently my memory card corrupted and now I cannot download any apps off the market.I had an ext2 partition, so I reformatted my memory stick the exact same way it was before it corrupted. I just got myself an android phone and very happy with it but I cannot set up the gmail account. It keeps saying: "This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call customer care". Other internet works on phone in browser and I can get the googlemap to work too, just cannot set up the market to download apps.

I was able to exchange the phone and I've reloaded my apps and gotten my contacts all back in play. Now I've tried to download my music onto my SD card and it's telling me the SD card is unavailable. Sometimes it seems like the attachment downloads with it comes thru MMS because it will say "Downloading" after touching the bubble but when it appears to be done, I can't find it anywhere. Then I downloaded the free version of Robo Defense over the weekend. I decided to buy the full version this morning. After I clicked through the legalese and all that it gave me the usual "check your notification bar for download progress", but it hasn't done anything for 15 minutes or so. No download progress or anything, and the app isn't installed. Does it normally take a while to start the download of a paid app (or your first paid app)?

After resetting my apps won't download. They just stay in 'starting download'...hanging. Any ideas?
Everything else is fine as far as I can tell....Oh other than my keyboard sometimes produces an abnormal sound when hitting a key. Call me picky but it's starting to get on my nerves. That's something that did not go away with the reset.

When I tried to download it nothing happened, and its been saying Installing for a long time now.
