Sprint HTC Hero :: My Phone Finally Acting Up

I was one of the "few" users who wouldn't complain about the 2.1. update on their Hero and my phone was working fine, until I installed Launcher Pro. Yes, my phone become even more responsive and I was actually glad with the new home launcher. But for some reason after installing that, and even though my phone was more responsive, my phone ringtones wouldn't go off whenever I would get a text message or a call. Not even the alarm would go off and thanks to that, I've been late to work lately lol But anyway, I decided to uninstall LP and now HTC Sense launcher forcloses every time it tries to load, so my phone is sort of useless now because I can't even open any other app. I already did a soft reset, removed the battery and HTC Sense is still foreclosing. I've been thinking that the best thing to do is doing a hard reset, but is there anything else I can do to fix this without doing a hard reset to my phone? BTW, my phone has the 2.1 update, the very first one released by Sprint and hasn't been updated again after that and my phone is not rooted.

I have the htc magic and its been acting up as of late. It's been running super slow, taking over a minute or more to load the home screen after running apps at times. My most recent, and worst problem, is every time I get a text message and go to turn of the display, it won't light up but instead shows the android loading screen (the one when you turn the phone one.) Sometimes ill already have it on and when I click the text box in the messaging app to reply, it does the same thing. Any suggestions on how to fix this? If not, I'm going to look into getting a new one or just switching to a phone with less hassle.

Ok so I have atk on my phone and every now and then I will go in to look and see what apps are running. Recently after killing all the apps that are running besides a few like messages and mail. Then ill lock my phone not use it or just text go back and look at the atk and there are so many apps open like as if the phone had just restarted. Music is open, clock, droid, facebook, and a whole long list. Why is it doing this? its slowing my phone down with all these random apps just opening.

i bought head phones (( gold tips )) and a 3.5 male to male stereo audio cable (( non gold tips )) to play my muisc player on a big stereo.So heres the problem when i first plugged it in my music would glitch , a head set icon came up not the head phone then the pic of the album cover would flip 6 times then jump the play list all the way to the end but the playlist wasnt ON random that sh*t broke my heart.Y my EVO ? anyway i called sprint and there advanced tect lol basiclly told me 2 take the batt out wait 3 min then put it back, so then i hooked it back up and it worked 4 a few minutes then started jumpin again.so sick to my stomach i just started pluggin it in and out (( slowly )) until the head phone icon came up and it would play PERFECT> oh and my gold tip head phone work great from the start.

Whenever I'm using the eris it seems to be messing up 80% percent of the it freezes up completely on me, it scrolls by itself, and when m texting it loves to just stop working...I use this eris as my work phone i have to text my boss a lot and with my phone screwing up sometimes it takes me 10 min. just to send a text..also i performed a factory reset and my phones still doing the same exact thing..what should i do?

Well ever sense i downloaded the mui rom and and went back to what i originally had my phone has been acting really werid . Here i will explain Every time i go in recovery to install a new rom /theme/ kernal or w/e i keepp getting this E:can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 also can't mount sd card.it does this 2 or 3 times before it actaully works , i was wondering is there anyway to fix this also is other people experiencing it or just me ????

So, I'm an HTC Magic user, I bought my phone unlocked from Greece and use it in the UK on Orange pay as you go. Following an sms w/ an attachment I received, the phone has been acting very strange and I need your help.Ok, I'll try to make this as clear as possible. So, because I'm on pay as you go, I have two apn options, one of which is fake, so that i can change from/to the proper apn settings whenever I want and the phone doesn't automatically connect for any reason if I don't want it to (so as to avoid paying). I was on wi-fi most of the time anyway. This was working perfectly for me, until.About 3 weeks ago, I received a txt message from 1550 (which, I think is orange's spambot) with the word "RockCorps" and an attachment. I accidentally clicked "download" and then clicked cancel as soon as I realised. I'm not sure if anything downloaded at all, nothing I noticed.HOWEVER, following that exact message, suddenly, although I was on the "null", fake apn, my phone went on gprs. I could see the icon and the NetSentry app recorded activity as well. I have NO clue what it was trying to download or upload at all.
I went into the apn switching screen to make sure I wasn't still on proper GPRS from the last time, but the selected option was the fake apn, which, up to then, gave me no data. No settings had changed on the fake apn, but it seems that even without selecting it, the fact that I had the proper apn listed enabled mobile data.

I dropped my droid for the last time. The screen finally cracked. I can get a new droid (like new) that is backodered or get the droid 2. Was wondering what crackdowns think and should I push to get droid x. Am leaning towards droid 2.

I have read a couple of threads that touched on this ring issue, but was unable to find any that had a solution or work around.Since the 2.1 update and the OTA update, many times when an incoming call comes, the phone doesn't ring. If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?

I had the same problem with my hero, bought the replacement off of ebay, followed these instructions..and wasn't too complicated. The only tome I had any frustrations was getting the clips unhooked also removing the cracked piece from the super strong adhesive. Maybe its just my phone acting "special" but if I open the browser and allow Google to find my location (its my home page) then the browser will close while trying to find where I am.
If I stop it before it gets to that part and open a different page or just decline the website's ability to find my location then it will stay up and running without further issue.
Anyone else seeing this? Any suggestions? I've cleared all cache, cookies, etc etc. Maps works fine and finds my exact location so I'm just kinda uuhhhh not sure

I'm moving over to Sprint.I'd rather not pay the $10 4G fee (or whatever you want to call that $10 fee), so I'll probably stick with a 3G phone.Is the Hero the best option? What I really need the phone to be able to do is voice calling, text, email, web browsing, etc. I'm not a power user, so I don't think I'd use the full power of the Evo anyway, so that's another reason to stick with the Hero.And if I understand correctly, I'd be eligible for upgrade pricing after 1yr with Sprint.

I rooted quite awhile back; I think it is Fresh 1.1.It worked fine.This morning it started spontaneously rebooting and is saying com.google.process.gapps. has stopped and all apps have forced close. At that point nothing works.I do have a Sprint contract to fix it but it has been rooted so I don't know what to do.

I switched to Sprint yesterday from ATT and bought a Hero along with my dad. They activated the phones for us and than told us that it should only be 30 minutes before our phones were on but could take up to 24 hours. its been about 15-16 hours and was wondering if it takes everyone this long?

One of the only disappointments I had with my EVO was that the audio quality through the headphone jack seemed muffled and quiet compared to my old iPhone. This wasn't a huge issue but very noticeable when listening to music in my car through the AUX input. After doing the following, I'm happy to say that the quality now even surpasses the iPhone.
Installed the paid version of MixZing - the price was kinda steep but well worth it since it comes with an EQ. Boosting the overall gain tweaking the low frequencies has done wonders - best music app IMO hands down!
(Following Requires Root and NAND):
Flashed a custom 2.2 ROM - the newer ROMs are using modified versions of HTC's source kernel to boost the audio volume. I prefer BakedSnack 1.4 using his included kernel. Better audio quality and better battery life to boot. Flashed the workaround (or manually edit build.prop) to temporary disable stagefright. This fixes the audio issues with Pandora running on 2.2.

Reckless Racing - Android app on AppBrain. The game downloads from market is about 3mb. When you launch the game it downloads the main file to the SD card (even on Android 2.1). The server was over run yesterday but seems to be working today but still a bit slow. The game itself is great fun ! I'll try out online game later...The game works on the HTC Legend but the frame rate drops in race. If you can pull out a lead and drop the other cars of screen its just about playable. However it is borderline on the HTC Legend, so be warned.

My HTC hero is rooted and today i think it got overheated while charging it and tethering it. I unplugged it from the charger and it will no longer turn on.I plugged it back in and the light turns red, cause it's charging but willl not turn on.what does this mean?is my phone like broken?

After looking at Verizon store, Best Buy, Target, and Dicks sporing goods.A salesperson at a Verizon Kiosk at the mall told me that Verizon is designing an armband for the Droid that should be available this spring.I looked through all the threads here, as well as at all the stores listed, and cannot find one that fits the Droid.Many different Iphone armbands are just a bit too small and do not fit the Droid.

So finally a video camera app is out on the market, pretty decent. Promises of bug fix and overall update in the next 5 days in good to know. Question is, has anyone else gotten it and it makes ur G1 sound kinda like a computer. Let me explain, when im phone is on, sense i downloaded the app, i can hear my phone running, kinda like how u can hear ur computer run, it makes wierd little sounds like its computing something, kinda weird i know. Kinda bugs me but I'll survive, anyone else having this problem though?

I rooted my phone the other day and today my SD card was acting up. I had another 8gb card that I swapped in there. Will it have any effect on my root and do I need to do anything to it. Or can I just go on like normal?

I transferred contacts from my old phone (Samsung Instinct). One of the numbers was a voicemail for another location. On the Instinct you put in the numbers with a pause in the string which allowed you to delay entry of saved access codes until the right time. Is there a way to do this on the Hero?

i'm here at work and have been trying for the last hour to get my phone to work as a modem. I got the same error message over and over again after connecting it to my computer "Error Code 67, your PCS Vision username and password may be incorrect." I installed HTC Sync, and it still doesn't work. So, assuming to myself that tethering for just one computer would be free, I call up Sprint tech support to find out what the problem is. First person didn't know what I was talking about so I was transferred to a really nice lady who helped me reprogram the phone but that didn't work so she sent me to another woman from tech support who had me go into System Updates and select Update Profile. I did that twice while talking to her and nothing fixed the problem.I kept getting error 67.So then, I get transferred to "Advanced" tech support and I talk to a really cool guy who goes out of his way to find a loop hole, but no success. So, he explains to me that after looking at it that they don't offer the "phone as modem" option anymore to my account type, and even then it would be $15 a month to just tether one phone. He said he could add the wifi hotspot option but I told him I don't want to pay $30/month for something I only use on Saturdays and when I travel. So after a hour on the phone, I got nowhere... but then I went onto the App Store and found Easy Tether-Lite and after 5 minutes I am sitting here writing this thread. (The full version said it supports https but idk what that means and I can surf the web now).
I only have one concern now though.I'm really happy this works but i'm scared now because this App was too easy to setup. I feel like I may be charged up the ass by Sprint somehow by finding this loophole or I may get penalized. My family and I are on the Everything Data where all data is unlimited so I don't think I should have a problem but after paying $30 extra a month for data with AT&T and finding this work around i'm getting paranoid that i'm going to get a bill at the end of the month charging me for tethering. So I guess i'll see what happens, but i'm glad for now.
