Apr 22, 2010My wife's Hero is stock and she said she just lost the audio on the phone. I know there are issues with this on rooted ROM'd phones but hers is stock.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Memory Loss - Ram Not Rom
Nov 9, 2009I know about the ROM memory leak when you shut off the phone while BT is trying to connect, but I havent seen anyone talking about loss of RAM. you get it back after the phone is rebooted, but I noticed with taskpanel x and now with auto task killer. (I did a factory reset and attempted to use the phone w/o a task manager/killer and it was unbearable) I start the phone and had about 97 in the beginning with taskpanel x, everytime it would "kill all" the available memory would be lower, eventually in the 50's with everything killed and Id restart the phone and then Id be back in the 90's. now with auto task killer Im looking at 54.4 available when I wake the phone up, just restarted it and I have 76. does anyone else have this problem? I was hoping the 2.0 release would also come with a fix for this, but with noone talking about it, Im assuming its not being worked on, maybe its just my phone...

Apr 13, 2010I have noticed that I only have around 25 to 30mbs of available space on my internal phone memory. This ROM has a2sd how is this possible? Some of my application will not update now like handcent. Doesn't the phone run into problems when the memory gets that low?

Do all the earpieces support streaming or playing music/sprint tv audio/Google listen?Are they all mono or do some single earpieces have stereo?Is there an industry standard for noise reduction that I should look for in the feature list? Any other tips if I just want to buy one and be satisfied its the right one?

Aug 19, 2010Ever since the 2.1 OTA update that I received back in July, my phone has been burning through the battery quickly and places that I usually get a 3G signal I now get no signal and the big X in the signal bar.

Apr 29, 2010I've started to recognize a peculiar problem. During a phone conversation on my Hero, I will start talking, and the other person will start talking just after that (maybe a second or two), then they stop, as they apparently now hear me "interrupting" them. In other words, to them, they started talking first, then I start but to me, I started talking first! (No, I am not purposely interrupting them) It's hard to describe, but it seems that there may be a delay in my audio getting to them. It seems to happen with all callers. Did I make this clear? Now, I am wondering if this happens when I am away from home as well, as I use an Airave device at home. Does anyone else experience this? Does anyone have a suggestion on how to test this? Or a solution?

Apr 9, 2010I'm using EStrong's File Manager and it has the ability to work over a network. I set up my Linux desktop to share my pictures and music folders. I can connect to the shares via Estrongs and view the pictures, as well as play music. However, so far I can only play 1 song at a time. Does anyone know of a music app that would allow me to create a playlist and stream it from my computer to my phone via wi-fi?

Sep 16, 2010after installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?

Jul 5, 2010I have read a couple of threads that touched on this ring issue, but was unable to find any that had a solution or work around.Since the 2.1 update and the OTA update, many times when an incoming call comes, the phone doesn't ring. If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?

Sep 10, 2010iv heard ppl who downloaded android 2.2 online and installed it themselves on there phone since its not being offered ota. but im wondering if its safe? the phone is not actually getting 2.2 ever, so doing this would be my own choice. but im wondering if it will run smoothly, better than 2.1 update 1, and if there will be any problems or if anything that may not work because of compatability problems with the phone. because some people have said that 2.2 isnt being released to the hero because the phone is not physically capeable of it do to software and hardware (such as space ram speeds etc.), and others have said they installed it themselves and it works fine, that its actually made to run using less space then 2.1 making it better.

Oct 5, 2009I have been a Blackberry and Windows Mobile user for the last eight years. I am 55% sure that I want to get the Hero but I am not 100% sold. I am also considering the Pre. I know this sounds crazy, but the absolute #1 thing I need is Internet sharing and tethering capability; even more so than a phone itself. All I really need this phone for is GMail, Google Voice, Google Turn-by-Turn, Web browsing and a few core apps like SplashID and Evernote.
Does the Hero have all these "core" features? Is there anything the EVO has, in terms of software, that the Hero doesn't? Is there anything that is *really missing* from the Hero that the EVO has?
