I bought a hero used and went to hook it up to my work account (my only phone), but I can't talk my boss into paying for a data package and sprint wont split it out. Is there any way to trick sprint into thinking it is just a regular phone so they will connect it and I can just use it with wifi?I tried searching on this topic but didn't find anything.I might not have been searching for the right wording.

View 9 Replies View Relatedseemingly for no reason. running fresh 2.3.3, and whatever stock kernels/overclockers or whatever, come with it) i've searched on here but havent really found the answer.it seems about 50% of the time when i go to either the browser or maps (or something that uses GPS), i'll find no connection. toggling airplane mode seems to remedy data connection, but i usu have to reboot to bring GPS back up. anyone else having these issues?

(and then it ended). i had no internet access after that for 2 days until i returned home and it came back at exactly the same spot on the interstate where i'd lost it. i was in major metro areas during these 2 days and my wife's incredible always had internet access while i did not.

I randomly lose my data connection. It happens whether I'm using 3g or wi- fi. And it doesn't matter witch rom I got flashed on my hero. I've been rooted for quite some time now, so I doubt I'm making a noob mistake. Although I'm no rom writer, so I could missing something.

No visible notification but the EV symbol at the top of the screen will always be "lit up" w/ the upload/download arrows showing no activity. I always have to switch the airplane mode on for a second and turn it back off. I have bluetooth automatically connect to my car when I'm in it and don't know if that's what is causing it? Anyone else having this issue and finding a cure? I updated PRL as well as firmware, but no luck.

NONE of these phones ever needed to be backed up prior to updating because an update resets your phone. STUPID! I simply don't have the time to do so and then try to reset up my phone the way I spent so much time doing the first time. This update should be available on the settings menu and definitely should not require backup.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI originally posted this in the CM 6 thread, but after doing a nandroid restore and also flashing to Fresh 2.4 I'm still having this issue. I rebooted my phone this morning (was running CM6 6.1.0 RC1) and ever since the reboot I cannot connect to any google services and the data connection when connecting to webpages is hit or miss. When I try to connect to my google account on the initial setup for CM6 and for Fresh 2.4 I get the error: 'cant establish a reliable data connection to the server'. I have good to great signal strength yet terrible connection. Would updating my radio help? After doing some googling someone suggested updating my profile through the system settings. Can I do that with a rooted phone or do I have to flash back to an official update?

It has been about 30 minutes and it still says 0% at erasing user data. Bu the dots are still moving as if it is working, just nothing has happened otherwise... I have not touched the phone or cord or anything of the like....is this normal? The phone itself just shows the HTC logo with a black background like it does on startup. Im worried. I have all my texts/pictures/apps/contacts backed up already, but should i just let it sit like this overnight or what....
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe had a shock at work yesterday when our Orange bill arrived charging me �826.00 for the 1032mb of data I used over my 500mb allowance in the first month of owning a Desire. At the moment we're negotiating with Orange about that, and they're even sending me something approaching an itemised data bill to look at, but in the future I want to get onto a truly unlimited data account to prevent this happening again. Early indications from Orange are that they only do 500mb bolt ons and no more (and it's very hard to actually confirm this on their not too informative website), meaning this issue could easily rear it's ugly head again. If this is the case then I have to consider going elsewhere. Even though we're only in the first month of the contract I'm prepared to completely downgrade my Orange account and keep it running for my wife or something, and to take out a new account with O2 on an unlimited data package (plus I'll have 2 Desires to play with). The only trouble is that in the past (but not in the last 2 or 3 years) I've heard some horror stories about O2's coverage in the West Midlands (I live near to Wolverhampton) and wondered if anybody has local knowledge and can advise whether this has changed in recently.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy app is creating a directory by using File thisDir = getDir("mycustomname", Context.MODE_WORLD_WRITEABLE); It is stored at /data/data/package/app_mycustomname/. I can browse that directory with DDMS or with 'adb shell', of course, it is empty. My App then creates some subdirectories there, and those have subdirectories too, and so on, and creates files in several of those. My app can read all those dirs and files, too. Sometimes I have to take a look at this directory tree, but I cannot browse deep into that tree, neither using DDMS (both inside Eclipse and standalone) nor using the shell. I can see that there is a directory called / data / data / package / app_mycustomname / mysubdirectory and I can even 'cd' into this directory. But when I do a 'ls' there, the directory is reported to be empty, though I'm sure there must be something inside. app_mycoustomname has the permissions drwxrwx-wx app_mycoustomname/mysubdirectory has the permissions drwxrwxrwx. I have the same issue on the emulator and on the ADP1, both running a 1.1 firmware.

The sync icon (arrows chasing each other in a circle) is stuck at the top of the screen and my battery is disappearing rapidly. I've done a couple battery pulls and reboots with no change.What I'd NORMALLY do is update the data profile under menu/settings/about phone/system updates... But something I didn't know about CM6 is that this option is not there. (unless it's hidden somewhere else, then please point me in the right direction)."No problem", I think There are other ways to skin this cat. I type in ##3282#, which should allow me into a menu that allows me to refresh the data service... The phone doesn't respond at all "Odd", I think. View 1 Replies View RelatedFor those of us Palm fans who have been searching for an application for notes/memo pad that can sync easily to the phone and laptop, the best one I have found so far is B-Folders. I have created notes on my laptop, edited them, deleted etc., then sync through WiFi to my HTC Hero easily. All notes are synced exactly, no duplicates, no weird stuff going on - and if I delete a note on my laptop, then it is deleted on my phone. It is phenomenal except that you can't yet sync using your cable (i.e. you always need Internet access to sync your phones). So this morning, Saturday 31 July, about 8.45 am, I emailed the company who makes it (Welcome to JointLogic!) and asked them when would we be able to sync with a cable i.e. direct to the computer without using internet. Less than 15 minutes later I got a response (remember, this is a Saturday morning): which was:
We are working on USB sync and we aim to make it available before the end of August. Until then you will be able to sync when there is a network connection. You can safely use public WiFi hot-sopts because the sync data is encrypted. How is that for great customer service. the app on your phone is free, but if you want it on your computer and to be able to sync, it will be around $29.99 but in my eyes, well worth it. There's nothing else out there like this as far as I can tell.
