I need help finding a app i had and cant remember the name of it. it helps you find local places near you and you use the phones camera and move it around it had like a little radar screen on it that shows you where there are and how far it is.

I've done some googling, but haven't been able to discern if a specific app has a widget for the home screen that displays local weather radar. Preferably it could be refreshed manually so that the battery isn't constantly crushed, however even finding an app with a desktop radar widget would be great. New to Android, won a Samsung Galaxy Tab at an office party a couple weeks ago.

View 3 Replies View Related1st time poster long time lurker. I have done a search on Google trying to find a solution or at least a reason as to why my phone is behaving this way. Search produces nothing. This week my phone started behaving strange. I will get a call, but the caller ID no longer displays. Suddenly the screen starts to flash and I have to unlock the screen in order to see who is calling. By the time the screen is unlocked the person has already hung up. I have not done anything (add new programs) in the last 2 weeks and I am not sure why this is happening.

Can anyone direct me to somewhere on how to customize the screens? Also, there are a couple of new icons at the top of my home screen - an "E" inside a circle and after a phone call, I get a green circle in the notification bar.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI hate the lock screen on the Hero, I know their is a way to turn it off, but i don't like getting a message and then the phone doing something in my pocket. Is their a way to extract the .apk of the lock screen from the droid, and just install it on the hero, I understand that the resolution on the hero is different, but hate the current lock screen, i have to slide it down 2-3 times for it to recognize. I downloaded lock 2.0 already on the market, its not bad. but it takes 3-4 seconds on my phone to actually give me the slide to unlock screen.

But I am still a little new at this and am confused as to how to just put the vanilla lock screen on. The Phone is rooted and running DC 2.08
Here's an interesting thing that just occurred for me. I used kitchen to push the stock android keyboard to my phone and removed the LWPs so when I went to reboot my phone it locked up at the boot screen where the little android emblem is hanging off the HERO while waving it's hand. I'm running Fresh 2.0d just in case that matters at all.

The only app that seems to keep the screen from going dim is Navigation. If I use an app like Google Maps it goes dim and then dark at the set time. I would like it to stay on specifically when it's got the charger hooked to it. It will only go dim with the charger on but I'd like it to stay bright. Or do I have to change my setting to "never turn off" everytime I want it to stay on?

I pushed every button possible. I could not get it to stop and i could not turn the phone off. Finally I had no other option but to pull the battery. Any one else experience this with the new 2.1 update??
View 23 Replies View RelatedLast night, played a couple of rounds on Wordfeud and I'm assuming the battery went dead. Now I'm stuck on HTC screen when I boot up. Won't even show CM6 loadup screen. I charged it for a couple minutes and even booted into recovery with no luck. Battery pull doesn't do it either. Have I bricked my phone? I'm not quite understanding why it's not loading up anything. BTW: During the recovery screen, it said I had the RA image there so I doubt it's not on my card to boot up as I know that if you don't have this then it won't boot up.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI set my screen to auto backlight, and to time out after 15 seconds, just to test this out.
Well when I'm not in a call, it dims and brightens accordingly. It also times out and shuts the screen off after 15 seconds like I selected.
When I am IN CALL, the screen does not dim and does not time out until about a minute or more into the call, it doesn't seem to be consistent. I've rebooted, and all that, nothing has worked.
I'm thinking of trying a factory reset but I don't really WANT to, I like the apps I have and such.
I've had a few 'time out' apps, like call caddy, power manager, etc. None of them worked the way I wanted them to (call caddy is supposed to lock the screen upon answering a call, and power manager is supposed to llow you to control timeout while in call) and I have been thinking maybe it somehow messed with my phone ability to regulate the screen time out?
As for my second question. How do I save all of my info on the phone, is there an app for that? I think sprint automatically syncs my contacts (I used to get notified but I somehow turned them off). Where/how would I re-download them? From the sprint website?
On the commercial I see each screen they flip through has a different wallpaper. How do I do this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't like using screen protectors if I don't have to. And this glass screen seems pretty scratch proof (for the most part anyways, I know anything could be scratched). But in everyday usage, taking pretty good care of your phone, have you put any scratches on it? I've had mine a month now, no protection, and not a single hairline scratch to be found. I carry it in my front pocket always and tend to set it down where ever and it's still good.
I know lots of people are using screen protectors, but for those that aren't, has anyone actually needed one in normal everyday moderate care use? How good is this screen anyways?
My boss has an iphone and hes got some app that basically displays his schedule for the day and any other info he wants to add on his lock screen. Anyone seen anything like this for android?I've searched on some sites and through the market and found nothing yet.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just rooted my replacement Hero and rooted it. Flashed CM6 and it just keeps reloading the Cyanogen (mod) screen that has the circular arrow surrounding the Android. I've left it go for 45 minutes and still nothing more, it won't boot up completely. I've tried Wiping everything and for some reason I can't find my Nandroid backup. I can't seem to do anything now. How do I wipe this clean again and start over?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe issue in a nutshell is that my hero fails to respond to input. I have wiped and loaded up a custom rom, and put it back to factory with no luck. Below are the details.I had 2.1 installed from Sprint but started having response issues, so I loaded up Fresh 2.3.3 but I don't think the problems are with the ROM. The main issue was that the phone was just generally unresponsive, aka, unable to unlock the screen, and if it would eventually unlock, you couldn't click on anything on the screen. This was why I wiped and loaded up a custom ROM but it didn't change anything.I was able to get into the adb shell and look at the processes. CPU usage was only about 15 to 20%, so fairly normal (in comparison to my Hero, I'm working on Joes). I also looked at the log and it records the touch screen input instantly, but it never actually responds on the display. It would note a few things that were timing out, but I don't recall what they were, nor did I recognize what they were.
So I was trying to reload the factory firmware on it last night but every time the Hero would reboot the PC could never connect to the bootloader. I tried it on my work PC and it did the same thing. So I tried it on a Win XP box it worked fine. I got it loaded back to the factory firmware this morning (twice actually), and after it boots up, again next to no response from the screen.Anywho, I have no idea what the problem is, but I'm going to take it to Sprint today and see if they can do somethign with it. I bought it off ebay, and after rooting/custom ROMs, I'm not sure if they will touch it. I think I've wiped any sign that it was ever rooted off there, but I'm not sure.I can't get back into the shell because I can't get far enough into the phone to enable USB debugging, in fact I can't even get past the intro on how to type because it won't respond.
Is there any app/widget that allows you to click the button to lock the screen? i know pressing the end key does but that doesn't work while in a call.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried searching for this topic but I couldnt find it. I just upgraded my htc hero to android 2.1. I never set a password for the lock screen. So it ended up putting a password on its own. I called sprint tech support and talked to them for about an hour and finally figured out that the password is my google account password. Thats all well and good but I am not a big fan of password protecting my phone because I really dont have any information of value on it, but I do like having the lock screen so I dont pocket diel. I found a few programs that will disable the lock screen that will get around this problem, kind of. Does anyone have a clue how to disable the password protection and still keep the lock screen. Its just really irritating because I dont usually lock my phone and every time I try to wake it I have to unlock it.
I switched phones the other day.The 1st phon eI was able to set my lock screen with a provided wall papar. On teh new phone, it says I have no photos and will not let me go to wallpapers. Could this be because I hace swapped out the 2gig micro sd with a new sd card?Because I know I did it on the other phone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I let my phone sleep long enough to go into a "deep sleep" it is very slow after I unlock it. For example, my phone has been in my pocket for a half of an hour and then I get a new text message. I turn on the screen, and slide to unlock, but I can't pull down the notification bar for about 10 seconds or so, I have to wait for the analog clock to set the right time (which it lags through) and then it's fine after that. I don't have this problem if I lock it then unlock it right away.
