Jul 21, 2010Is there any app/widget that allows you to click the button to lock the screen? i know pressing the end key does but that doesn't work while in a call.

Dec 7, 2009I hate the lock screen on the Hero, I know their is a way to turn it off, but i don't like getting a message and then the phone doing something in my pocket. Is their a way to extract the .apk of the lock screen from the droid, and just install it on the hero, I understand that the resolution on the hero is different, but hate the current lock screen, i have to slide it down 2-3 times for it to recognize. I downloaded lock 2.0 already on the market, its not bad. but it takes 3-4 seconds on my phone to actually give me the slide to unlock screen.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Lock Screen Password
Jun 2, 2010I tried searching for this topic but I couldnt find it. I just upgraded my htc hero to android 2.1. I never set a password for the lock screen. So it ended up putting a password on its own. I called sprint tech support and talked to them for about an hour and finally figured out that the password is my google account password. Thats all well and good but I am not a big fan of password protecting my phone because I really dont have any information of value on it, but I do like having the lock screen so I dont pocket diel. I found a few programs that will disable the lock screen that will get around this problem, kind of. Does anyone have a clue how to disable the password protection and still keep the lock screen. Its just really irritating because I dont usually lock my phone and every time I try to wake it I have to unlock it.

Dec 2, 2009I switched phones the other day.The 1st phon eI was able to set my lock screen with a provided wall papar. On teh new phone, it says I have no photos and will not let me go to wallpapers. Could this be because I hace swapped out the 2gig micro sd with a new sd card?Because I know I did it on the other phone.

Feb 21, 2010Fresh 1.1 lock screen is clear. I personally do not like that, BUT when I try to load another one via Pre-kitchen, it loads, reboots, and its still the same. I click to clear cached lock screen, reboots, still the same. Anyone know why it won't change? the boot screen changed first try, so that is good, just that damn lock screen. I don't like the clear thingy.

Jul 1, 2010I am just getting tired of the lock screen on the Hero. My main problem with it is that, if I use the stock Messaging app, the messages show on the bottom...even though i have my phone locked with a pattern lock. I know I can use handcent and not have to deal with it, but I just want to know how to get rid of the stupid lock screen. I've read around a few places, and I know it's possible on 1.5, but I'm not too sure if it's possible for 2.1. Does anyone know where I can get instructions on who to disable the lock screen for 2.1, if it's even possible. My phone is rooted. Also, if I do disable the lock screen, and then i decide to put in a new ROM on my phone, what will happen?

Oct 23, 2009Here are the issues I am having:
1. Can't lock screen while in a call. Red button just hangs up the call.
2. Apps cannot be installed to sd card. Internal Phone Storage after a device wipe shows about 136MB free. I downloaded about 5 or 6 apps and the phone ran out of room. I deleted the apps, but the space was not reclaimed. This is why I had to reset the device. Now I am afraid to install apps without filling it up again.
3. Bluetooth does no always connect back to my headset. sometime I have to turn on/off bluetooth on phone. Sometimes I have to reboot phone. One time I installed Pandora and bluetooth would not work until I figured out that removing Pandora would fix it.
4. Camera is no good.
5. WIFI cannot connect to an N router running in mixed mode (a,b,g,n). You must "dumb" down the router to b,g mode in order to connect the phone. This means hat other users who have no issues with N have to suffer the reduced speed of b,g.
6. No way to "EXIT" an app to reclaim RAM.
7. KB not as accurate as the iphone.
8. I have disabled HTC Sense and it is still slow. For example, often when I load favorites, nothing displays for about 3-4 seconds. This is not acceptable.
Overall, not a very tested or mature OS. I feel like I should not be starting from scratch like this. The folks at Android are guilty of using the consumer as a guinea pig. This is not acceptable. We are not reinventing the wheel, so why are obvious features missing?
