I just got my Hero on monday and my yahoo email acct. was working perfect, but this morning when I tried to refresh my email it says "Login Failed". I deleted the acct to try and do it all over again only now it's not verifying my username/password or it says can not connect to server. My internet on the phone is working and my wifi is working, but not the email.

i've tried out all the radios to test out which is the best for me..and i devided on the one that was based off the verizon radio..so i got an error message saying "You must be a Sprint Customer to use this feature" so i changed to the newest radio out 2.42.01.04.27 and i still get the same issue..what could it be?

They activated the phones for us and than told us that it should only be 30 minutes before our phones were on but could take up to 24 hours. its been about 15-16 hours and was wondering if it takes everyone this long?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've setup email on my hero in the mail app. It works fine for a couple of days and then suddenly it just stops working. I've tried it with a yahoo account and a gmail account in the mail app and both do the same thing. Using the gmail account I have set it up so its using exchange server. It works fine for a couple of days, it pushes email to my hero fine but then after a couple of days it will stop working. Even if i click the refresh icon it wont retrieve my email. I have to delete the account and set it up again to get it working again.Why is this happening? Obviously the settings are correct otherwise it wouldn't work for the first couple of days and then stop. Help really appreciated as this is the only issue i am having with the phone now.

I didn't have anything to do with this, and I didn't find this link, I just posted it from my old thread about the overclock widget (thanks to whoever found this). I figured that people who don't check xda regularly (like myself) might want a heads up, so here you go.
I get m gmail fine, but another account I had set up on the regular mail function quit receiving email several days ago. I uninstalled the account, reinstalled it and got all the messages I missed. then yesterday, nothing. I'm hoping I just dorked up a setting, but I wanted to make sure it is just me and not a Sprint issue.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Telus HTC Hero, which the seller had unlocked. I intend to use this phone with another carrier, Bell. After spending a few hours at Bell customer service, they finally managed to get the 3G data working (for weather, email etc.). However, the browser does not work, neither does the Market.
What seems to be causing the problem is that this phone is MASSIVELY tweaked (appears massive to me probably because I'm not that big on tweaking and don't know about the Android OS in general) by the previous owner who only had it for a few days. The Bell customer service person told me that they switched over a couple of other HTC devices from Telus that were NOT tweaked and the data works perfectly.
All I want is for the phone to be in original factory settings, with original ROMs, firmwares, software, etc. etc. Just looking at the whole bunch of different files that this guy had on the 2GB "gold" memory card made my head spin. He attempted to explain to me with all the "updates" and fancy "roms" and "roots" and crap that I didn't understand nor do I want to spend the time to learn.
I understand that a lot of people buy android phones because they love tweaking but I am not really into all that... I just wanted the phone for the form factor and the functionality and I don't want to worry about optimizing and whatnot. So my question is: is there any way to get the phone back to the most original possible software condition? I just want it "clean." Can I go ahead and wipe everything that is on the 2 GB card? What do I do? I performed a hard reset and it took me to some weird startup screen and I chose the first option which is like reboot now (there were also a bunch of other options including apply update.zip or something)... it still gave me the same MoDaCo build.
I can provide any information but I would really appreciate any help in restoring my seemingly very tweaked phone to original, factory settings, so it could be like any other phone being sold by Telus other than the fact that it is unlocked.
I have my default email app set up to receive both my Gmail messages and my school's messages. I can both send and receive emails, but I'm having some issues getting notified and receiving messages consistently. I have my update settings set to every 30 minutes, but often I will check the client only to see that it hasn't been updated for hours. Also, sometimes when I get messages there won't be an email notification or an unread count on the widget.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have setup my gmail properly(gmail app), but for some reason it does not want to fetch my mail or if it does it does 20 mins later or so. Anyone else having this problem and i have hard reset and checked all settings for data sync. I have not seen this problem so i am thinking it a software problem. I just want to know if anyone has setup using gmail and is getting mail pushed to them right away. Also i know its not push mail but it suppose to come kinda close.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using the HTC email service on a rooted Sprint Hero, Fresh 1.1 Gumbo. i have no apps installed that did not come with the ROM, my mobile is toggled on, i don't ever use wi-fi, and my email accounts are both gmail and yahoo (although my default is yahoo)...i think that covers any possible questions. anyhow the problem is sometimes my emails will not refresh at 15 minutes.

I am able to view them with K9 and the regular email app. I am running Fresh 2.0b2 I dont mind using K9 or the regular email app but they arent as cosmetically fine tuned as the gmail app. You would think that an Android powered phone wouldnt have this issue.

Am new to smartphones so bear with me! I've got a few questions about using my Hero to access my email:
1) If I setup the phone to access my email accounts what types of vunerabilities am I opening myself to?
2) If I lost my phone (or it was stolen) could someone read my passwords ... how are passwords stored on the phone?
3) Is it safer to access my email provider thru the browser?
I recently picked up the HTC hero and love it so far. My only complaints are battery life and the fact I did something wrong when setting up my yahoo mail. As far as the battery goes there is nothing wrong, I was just used to a regular flip phone. I just charge this every night now.I have been lurking here for a long time and finally picked up my first smartphone and LOVE IT. This site has helped me in so many ways already.When I set up my yahoo mail using the (other(POP3/IMAP)) setting and I got a call in the middle of it and started over. I actually ended up entering my yahoo mail twice on accident. They both work perfectly fine. So I get a notification twice for every one email I get. Completely my fault and not the phones in any way, but either way I cant figure out how to delete one of them. One is named Yahoo and the other jjj_85, my account name. I have dug through every option I can think of and searched on here and came up with nothing. All the options are just to modify the accounts I set up already. Any ideas on how to delete one of them? Hopefully I just overlooked something simple.

I have sense installed CM6 and LP. I looked to recreate the Sense UI Email Widget, but couldn't find it. So I thought, ok I'll upgrade to LP+ and that will have the Email widget.
Nothing. I have searched the market for Email Widget as well, but don't find anything similar. So what are you, running LP or LP+ using for an Email Widget similar to the one in Sense UI.
Yes, I have the email "shortcut" or "icon" but I want the full 4x4 page widget like I used to have.
I don't know what i was thinking and I added a pretty spammy email account to my hero. I can't for the life of me figure out how just to delete the whole account so no messages get forwarded.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs anyone aware of an email issue in which you can send, reply to and forward a message through POP mail only if connected to WiFi?
I have a couple of POP accounts (outside of gmail) set up in the email application. The last couple of days (with the WiFi off), I have tried to respond to an email through my phone, as well as forward another and it comes up with an alert that it is unable to send. Then I turn on my WiFi and try again and it goes through fine.
Confused by this, if anyone has an explanation or fix. I would like to be able to reply, forward, send regardless if I am on the network or WiFiespecially since I will not always have a WiFi hotspot available in every situation.
Receiving messages still works fine. Sending is where the problem pops up. It cant be the settings, as it can send when WiFi is on using the exact same settings as are entered when trying over the network.
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I have had my hero for a couple weeks now was working perfect however I am no longer being alerted when I have emails (both exchange and Yahoo). It will show 0 I will refresh and still none, however I will check it on the computer and there are several. I have it polling every hour?

Now switching to the Hero (love it by the way), I am trying to figure out if there is a way to filter the email that comes to my new phone.On BlackBerry, you could go to options, security and firewall. There you could choose to have email only come to your phone if was from someone in your contact list. Basically keeps all junk out.Is there anything similar to this on the Hero, or an app anyone knows of that can do this, or close?This is the main reason I quit using WinMo phones and went to BB.

I receive emails for every engineering release that goes out at my work. On my laptop I can review the attached file, a SNP generated by Access. On the Berry and the Hero I can't, so I would like to not have them cluttering my inbox.

Sometimes I get email notifications (using HTC Mail) and I open Mail and go to the new message, but all that shows up is a timestamp of "Wed, Dec 31, 1969 7:00 PM" with no subject, body, or even sender. It's like the email didn't download or I can't view it for some other reason.
Has anyone's email notification stopped working? The envelope that usually appears in the notification bar doesn't show anymore, but when I look at my mail shortcut on the homescreen, it shows the green circle with the number of new emails. Did I accidentally change something or do you think it's a bug?

This is my first Android phone and I just got it, was previously using WinMo. In my email I was able to set it so that when I was viewing an email and decided to delete it while viewing it, I would go directly back to the inbox but my Hero automatically goes to the next email on all accounts. How or can I change this?
Also, is there a way to set email so that I have a choice of which email I want to open by a list (similar to an account picker?)
My stock htc browser is not working for some reason. It can't find the path....Steel and Dolphin works fine, but I was wondering if anyone had any input on the situation. I have always received positive feedback from everyone, and my phone works wonderfully...
