I am attempting to delete text messages from my "messages" app and every time I choose delete it freezes and causes a Force Close pop-up. Anyone know why it might do this?

A couple of my friends and I all have the Eris. I seem to be the only one that has messaging issues though. If I try to delete a thread with over 30 messages the phone freezes up and I eventually have to hit the home button to make anything happen. When I'm on the home screen I click messages again to see if it did delete the thread and ALL my threads are gone and it says Compose Message at the top. But it freezes again. I end up restarting my phone, going back to the messages and they are all back like I never touched them.
Every time I try to explain this people seem to think I don't understand how to delete a thread. That is not the issue! If the thread is under 30 messages it deletes fine! I have to delete facebook statuses all the time. The only way I could clear a 700 count thread was to one by one delete the messages. What is going on? Is it just my phone and hopefully an update is coming? Or do I have a setting turned on that I need to change?
I've had my phone for 8 hours, and I'm already confused. So, I thought if I deleted a message off of my phone, it would erase on my G mail account too. But, this doesn't happen! How do I fix that?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC Hero a while ago, it is running Android version 1.5. Now my problem is, I've never really deleted any of my texts, so now I've got loads of texts stored on the phone and if I try to delete them, the phone just crashes, it either just freezes up completely or comes up with an error message saying that it could not delete my texts!
Ive tried deleting texts by one person at a time, but as soon as it reaches somebody that has over around 100 texts, it stops. I've tried hooking the phone up to my laptop but I can only see the things that are on my memory card! Is there any way that I can hook up the phone to the computer and see all the texts there and delete them from there?
I'll be on my phone browsing through the net, on my apps etc. Then once I get back to my home screen all of a sudden my screen freezes and the "HTC screen" pops up (same screen when you reboot your phone) and then I will have to wait a minute or two for everything to load up again. I've had my hero since January and this problem recently just began last week. It happens quite often and it's really irritating. I always clear my cache/data/history. Could it perhaps be some of the applications I downloaded from the market causing this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedHad the phone for 3 months now, things are going downhill. The trackball now only works in one direction , this. Is annoying but I don't use it much. The update is buggy . Problems now with WiFi and mobile connection widgets not working. While changing in settings works. Search facility in landscape unusable. Messages access slows and freezes. All in all its loosing its sparkle.

View 3 Replies View RelatedGot yahoo working on my hero by putting android before imap.Only thing is there is no option to leave messages on the server. Done a test and if I delete from the phone it goes from the server too. Dont want hundreds of emails building up for eternity on the handset.. Hotmail works fine, deletes from handset only as options allow.

View 9 Replies View RelatedYesterday my HTC Hero frooze up as I was looking through the AP News app. I tried pressing the power and return buttons to get out of it but it wouldn't respond. I ended up letting the battery to dead and then plugged it back in to power up again, allowing the phone to reboot.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI rooted a friends phone and when I try to get to the recovery reboot screen it freezes on the HTC screen, I have to remove the battery and boot normally, and it works just fine. I have rooted two other hero's with no problems. I've tried a wipe and doing the process over again and the same thing happened.

If I try, my phone just crashes. my phone is so slow and my gf is such a snoop on my phone and I want to delete my texts from other people. I downloaded Delete Old Messages and I always try and delete stuff. It will try and delete them all, like around 3,000ish and I will leave the phone alone for like 4 hours and only around like 30 will be deleted.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI just posted a new status on facebook, and stayed on there for 10 minutes. My phone is set up to receive the comment updates. On facebook someone left me a comment 2 minutes after i put it there and my phone got it 7 minutes later. Come to think about it, I barely get any text from facebook. Does the hero have some sorta delay? or could it just be sprint? I have wifi and mobile on so idk how this would work at all?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the forum. (Love it so far). I have a HTC Hero on Sprint and for some odd reason it just stopped allowing me to send messages that I have attached pics to. It also tells me that I have reached my size limit if I try to attach more than 1 pic to a message. It's very frustrating and I have reset it several times (taken out the battery for a few mins), but nothing seems to be working.

Once I do call. i get like 5 messages. anyone else have this problem? Quite frustrating. Called sprint to reset network n stuff but still no resolution. They said to hard reset but I'm reluctant.

Also, recently (as in today). My phone has been sending messages to other people, randomly. I got a phone call from my mother but it popped up as a totally different number.

Then all a sudden when i went back to text someone else my whole thread was gone and all my messages had been deleted. View 3 Replies View RelatedI was going through my Uninstaller App today to see what apps I really haven't been using much lately, because even though I have apps2sd, my internal memory is down to 23mb. Despite clearing the cache with cachmate. I have a bunch of apps, and know that they are all taking up cache, but daaaaamn, they take up a lot, lol. I have a 16gb, i think "kingston" sd card, and doubt it's a class 6 (because my wife got it at the sprint store), so I'm not comfortable moving all my dalvik cache onto it in case it screws something up, or makes it super slow. Sorry, got a little off topic. So I came across "com.htc 2.1-update1 10998kb", and wasn't sure if I would brick my phone by deleting it. It's obviously taking up some of my internal memory, and I'd like to have that room back lol. Does anyone know if I'll brick my phone if I delete it, or if it will be just fine if I delete it? I'm running 1.5, with Aloysius 2.1 LWP w/ OC. I refuse to upgrade to 2.1 and lose root. Unless someone has finally found a way to get root again after updating to 2.1?

If that didn't make sense, basically when I go to shoot an email on my hero, as I'm typing who I'm sending it to, it shows a list of everyone that I've emailed starting with whatever letter I'm pressing, normally and most of the time that's awesome, but sometimes, like the situation I stated above it's a big pain in the arse.
Everytime I receive an email, I delete it. When I delete one email. It'll show the inbox with the number ZERO in between parenthesis. Then 1 more email comes in. The parenthesis number is 2. Delete the email that is actually new, and the new parenthesis is 1. Receive one more email. It'll show up as 3. Basically, the ones I deleted aren't deleted on google's server, but they won't show up again in my phone inbox - only in the "unread" counter. And no, it doesn't go away after a few minutes when gmail syncs. Do I really have to get onto a computer to clear the "unread" count? I am running fresh .7.
