To clean the inbox of my HTC I often erase all messages. However, this action is synced to gmail and erases the messages. I don't want that; I want them to stay in the inbox (forever) Is there a setting that disables the sync action?

I've had my phone for 8 hours, and I'm already confused. So, I thought if I deleted a message off of my phone, it would erase on my G mail account too. But, this doesn't happen! How do I fix that?

View 9 Replies View Relatedwhy my S4 is deleting all my contacts from it. I have my contacts synced with my gmail contacts and this has been the case for years. I had a Samsung Infuse before this and have never had a problem. I've had the S4 for about 3 weeks now and this hasn't happened until yesterday. And since yesterday it has happened 3x's. At first I thought it was a Trulia app (realestate app) that I was using to try to call some realtors. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence but the first 2 times I was on the app and my contacts disappeared. How I recovered them was through the contacts recovery feature on Gmail. I would be SOL if I were out and needed to call someone on my contacts list immediately and without access to my laptop.

View 7 Replies View Relatedim not an expert on how push email works, but my understanding is that gmail messages should appear on my phone without me having to refresh or manually sync the gmail app. for a reason unknown to me, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt. at night, i shut down wifi and the mobile network to conserve battery and start up the mobile network when i leave for work in the morning. i get notification of new yahoo email, thru the htc widget, almost instantaneously, yet gmail doesnt come thru until i manually sync the gmail app. then during the course of the day, sometimes gmail messages get pushed right thru and other times not at all until i manually sync the app. meanwhile my yahoo mail comes thru flawlessly.
considering gmail is supposed to push and the htc widget does not, this is the opposite of what i expect. as far as settings, i have auto sync enabled for both the device and for the gmail app. while i always assume user error until proven otherwise, in this instance i think i have all the correct settings, which makes sense considering sometimes gmail does get pushed. its just erratic and unpredictable. anybody got any ideas what's going on here?
A couple of my friends and I all have the Eris. I seem to be the only one that has messaging issues though. If I try to delete a thread with over 30 messages the phone freezes up and I eventually have to hit the home button to make anything happen. When I'm on the home screen I click messages again to see if it did delete the thread and ALL my threads are gone and it says Compose Message at the top. But it freezes again. I end up restarting my phone, going back to the messages and they are all back like I never touched them.
Every time I try to explain this people seem to think I don't understand how to delete a thread. That is not the issue! If the thread is under 30 messages it deletes fine! I have to delete facebook statuses all the time. The only way I could clear a 700 count thread was to one by one delete the messages. What is going on? Is it just my phone and hopefully an update is coming? Or do I have a setting turned on that I need to change?
Anyone think 2.2 will fix the whole "my Droid randomly deleted all my texts again" issue? I really hope so because I'm sick of this happening 2-3 times a week
View 14 Replies View Related When I set my phone up it loaded every singe contact from my GMAIL contacts onto my phone. I don't necessarily want all of these clogging up my phone, but when I go to delete them from my phone they also get deleted from my contact list in GMAIL. Also the same with emails. If I delete them on my phone, they get removed from GMAIL inbox.
My old blackberry would give the an option of "delete from phone" or "delete from phone AND gmail".
while in the process of setting up my phone, i created a gmail account, which i need so i can use market, etc. Just wondering if anyone knows how i can go about removing that gmail account. I spell my name wrong, so want to remove that email account and register a new one, but i can't find anywhere where i can delete it, it just keeps coming up to put my email in. I have deleted the incorrect gmail account on their website.

Then all a sudden when i went back to text someone else my whole thread was gone and all my messages had been deleted. Then I try using the stock messaging app and obviously all my threads are deleted but messages send twice, any suggestions?

How do you save a pictures sent to you in a text message to the phone.
I press and hold on the picture thats in the text message and there is no option to save.
I sent myself and audio from my old phone. It is my favorite ringtone. I can play it on my SE Xperia x10i, but it will not give me an option to save it to my phone.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm sure I'm overlooking something simple. At some point I had an option to save new contacts as a phone contact or a gmail contact. But I've lost that option. Now whenever I enter a new number in my phone I have to manually enter it into my gmail account as well. (Lets not even get into the pain in the butt Google Apps account which will NOT sync my contacts from my personal domain) What am I missing here? I've already lost one gals number that I really wanted to call when I did a factory reset and forgot to manually put it in gmail.

Done a test and if I delete from the phone it goes from the server too. Dont want hundreds of emails building up for eternity on the handset.. Hotmail works fine, deletes from handset only as options allow.
