Samsung I7500 :: Way To Log On WPA2 Enterprise Network?
Mar 29, 2010
is there a way to log on a WPA2 Enterprise Network? My school uses this, and I can't connect.I bought my Galaxy without a data plan because I thought I could be able to connect at school and at home, but it doesn't work with WPA2 Enterprise.I heard of an app, Wifi Helper I believe, but you need to have your phone rooted, something which I don't really want to do for various reasons.

I would like to use my Hero on our company wifi network. We use WPA2-enterprise with TLS. There seem to be settings for this in the wifi settings menus but the drop-down for certificates only show "none". Where do I put these certificates? Or how do I import them?

Is there a way to alter the wpa_supplicant on an non rooted G1 with the actual firmware RC33 which is installed on the german devices, I will need to have access to WPA2 Enterprise Networks with my G1 , and i actually could not get root access with the current release of Android on the Phone. So my question is , is it possible to write a Programm which can build in the possibility to connect to WPA2 Enterpise networks on a G1 without root access, and when there is one how could this be done?

Does anyone know if Android 2.1 (on an HTC Desire) is capable of WPA2 Enterprise? I called HTC and they told me there was no support - that it wasn't a limitation of the phone, but that Google doesn't offer support for it yet - which seems to me rather ridiculous (My school will only let me use their network on a WPA2 Enterprise network). Does anyone know of any work around? Also, when is Google set to release a firmware update providing native support for WPA Enterprise?

My university, VT uses two wireless connection, one is manual login and other is auto login Enterprise Network. This is what my university describe about it
"An automatic wireless authentication method using the IEEE 802.1x standard is available. Once configured, there will be no need to manually authenticate with each access to the Virginia Tech wireless network."
This network requires a certificate to be installed on machine. As of now they have support for Windows PCs, MACs and iPhones. Is there any way I can access this wireless network through my Android based phone?

Ever since flashing the 2.1 leaks (V1 and then V2), I have not been able to connect to my university's WPA2-enterprise wireless network. After I enter my login info (the network uses PEAP with MSCHAPv2, so it doesn't need any certificates), the phone connects as expected and gets a valid IP address, verifiable with netcfg. Before any traffic is allowed to pass to the outside world, however, the device connecting has to go to an authentication page in a browser. When I attempt to go to that page, I get an error titled "Data Connectivity Problem" that states "A secure connection could not be established" which only presents an option to acknowledge the error.
Since I can't load that authentication page, the network is entirely unusable. I did not encounter this problem with 1.5, but since I'm running the V2 leak, reverting is not an option.Has anyone else seen this type of behavior? I can't identify if the problem is in the actual link not being established properly (seems unlikely, as the phone is given an IP address, but perhaps the PEAP layer is having some sort of issue?) or if it has to do with the SSL certificates used for the network authentication page (they're signed, but I'm fairly certain that the name if the site they're signed for is not the name that they've given the new auth server).

Serious issue here with my galaxy. I was coming back to Denmark from Sweden yesterday and my phone was working fine on roaming all this time. As my train crosses to Denmark, I lose the network, and very much since then have not been able to get it back. If I manually go into search for networks, it will take a minute or so and sometimes finally find some networks.
If I choose my home network, it will try for 2-3 minutes and fail 90% of the time and sometimes succeed.
That is act as if I was connected with 4 bars, but still, when I send myself an SMS from another phone, or try to call, nothing comes up. I know it is not the SIM, or the provider, as I have switched SIMs with another phone and the SIM works on the other phone, just like the other phone's SIM doesn't work on my galaxy. I am running Galaxo1.1, but as I said this problem started occurring without my even handling the phone at that time.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find any clear answer.
I got this phone from O2 UK, unfortunately I don't have any chance to try out other SIM card onto this phone, do you know if this phone is unlocked to any network? Can I put any other SIM than O2?

At least it looks like that to me. Many have reported it can be cured with disabling Network Location, then it was the basebands that could help, then it looked like the problem is in USB charging. Well my no sleep is a unique one and I dare to say it has nothing to do with anything and it's total luck. My Galaxy goes into no sleep as soon as I receive a call. JC6+galaxo. First it was with JC6 baseband as I said in the JC6 thread. Then I flashed II5 baseband and it worked great. It was fast, WPA Ent worked. But off course, I received a call and it went into no sleep again. No network location, no USB plugging in, looks like it is triggered by unique things. I'm officially tired of this piece of junk. I'm going back to my II5 nandroid backup. And I was so happy with JC6. Damn you Samsung. If this isn't resolved in one month I'm spending money and getting a Hero. (cheap enough, and at least it has tons of 2.1 firmwares).

I'm not sure if this is the correct place, but I could not find anything better. I'm looking for the APN settings for the Proximus (Belgium) network for my brand new Samsung Galaxy.I've tried the information I could find the internet but I don't seems to be able to get a data connection, so I just want to verify that I've set it up correctly on my end.

I just recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy GT-17500L (its a Bell Canada phone). After purchasing the phone (which was originally unlocked) I bought a Solo mobile sim-card, which was needed in order to use the phone on my Solo monthly plan. Everything was working fine until I decided to try and update the firmware from 1.5 to 1.6; unfortunately, like a few others from Canada, I didn't properly read the guide and after the upgrade, the phone was "re-locked" and wasn't accepting my sim-card. After going through the guide posted on Pg.4 here (Bell Canada users and Brazilian Users - Galaxy 7500L (notice the L)), with the help of Rasta-Man FB posts and others, I was able to get my phone back to the original firmware, but now I'm having reception issues. The phone will at times pick up the Solo Netowork (I'm still using the original solo sim card), but then drop it after 10 minutes and just say there is no service. When I search for networks, it recognizes the Solo one (I'm guessing b/c of the S.C) but it isn't able to connect.

The Samsung i7500 Galaxy is, except the support from Samsung itself, a great Android smartphone with a very good (the best?) price for value. It's with 11,9mm the second slimmest Android phone after Nexus One with 11,5mm (right?) and has unlike the HTC phones a flash light and build in storage of 8GB. On most sites the Galaxy is (one of) the cheapest Android phones, I wonder if it's because Samsung is cheaper or HTC/Motorola more expensive by itself?
I personally would compare the i7500 with the HTC Hero, although in my opinion the i7500 still has a much better price for value.
Is it even possible to define if and which Android phone is a low, middle, or high-end smartphone?
Sure, it also depends for what purposes you bought and use your phone, but I still wonder were the i7500 would be if 1=low and 10=high end Android phone, and if there even is a number 10? I also think that the D-Pad is a big plus and not a minus in comparison to the scroll ball from HTC.

Does GAOSP Froyo support live wallpapers for i7500? If yes, can you recommend some that seem to run fine without (major) slowdown? I would suspect that the CPU is too slow to run most live wallpapers, but there might be some neat ones that are good to go?

Sorry if this thread seems inconsequential but I have been rendering myselves sleepless nights over the past couple of days ( and nights ) due to my inability to choose between the above two said android phones. I like the i5700 for its zippy 800 MHz processor and that its got the 2.1 update. I like the i7500 for its 5 MP camera and flash + a larger screen to play with I would have gone in for the i7500 but have been hearing about Samsung deciding against not updating it to version 2.1 which can off course be done taking the un-official channel. Moreover the 528 Mhz processor is certainly lagging.
But still I see people in here Going after the i7500 .... Adding to it there is more threads and discussions going around on the i7500 as compared to the i5700. Am I missing something in the i7500 or is it just that i am a stupid newbie ... I have gone through many many pages of information on this thread before posting this query.

My university WiFi uses WPA2 Enterprise for security and we authenticate using the following settings:
EAP Method: PEAP
Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
CA Certificate: Thawte Premium CA
and identity and password being our student credentials.
I've copied that from an old unanswered thread because I have a similar issue.
How do I disable Credential Storage so I don't have to re-enter the password every time I'm back on campus. Since I'm back and forth multiple times each day, I end up having to re-enter it constantly. On my home network I used WEP, and the HTC Inspire I use connect automatically.
I'd like to be able to connect automatically to the university network as well.
