Jan 23, 2010The Samsung i7500 Galaxy is, except the support from Samsung itself, a great Android smartphone with a very good (the best?) price for value. It's with 11,9mm the second slimmest Android phone after Nexus One with 11,5mm (right?) and has unlike the HTC phones a flash light and build in storage of 8GB. On most sites the Galaxy is (one of) the cheapest Android phones, I wonder if it's because Samsung is cheaper or HTC/Motorola more expensive by itself?
I personally would compare the i7500 with the HTC Hero, although in my opinion the i7500 still has a much better price for value.
Is it even possible to define if and which Android phone is a low, middle, or high-end smartphone?
Sure, it also depends for what purposes you bought and use your phone, but I still wonder were the i7500 would be if 1=low and 10=high end Android phone, and if there even is a number 10? I also think that the D-Pad is a big plus and not a minus in comparison to the scroll ball from HTC.

Oct 11, 2009I got my galaxy few days ago and Yesterday I got home to my comp. I had an Israeli firmware version which is really annoying.
After reading in this forum and the Italian HD forum I successfully flashed the firmware(to H8 cause you people said the II5 is buggy) and rooted my phone. I want to install the USB drivers but I have a problem: I've already seen the guide that kam made but when i try to install the ADP driver I get this message(after it recognizes its a ADP driver but not recognize galaxy): I think this pictures will explain better than words. What happened when i install the driver: This is how my device manager looks AFTER i installed(unsuccessfully) the driver: this is how the driver looks: I use windows XP if somebody is confused. You can see in the "details" that my phone is VID_04E8&PID_6640&MI_04 So that is not the problem. UPDATE: I managed to solve my problem with this file.

I'm tired of my [buggy] JC4, and I've finally worked up the nerve to try messing around with unofficial ROMs. But I can't seem to find a proper and step-by-step guide to installing Galaxo 1.6.3.4. Can anyone tell me how to do it? I'm familiar with ADB and I've flashed firmwares before [albeit, the official Samsung ones via Odin].

Samsung I7500 :: Confused Between I5700 & I7500
Mar 18, 2010Sorry if this thread seems inconsequential but I have been rendering myselves sleepless nights over the past couple of days ( and nights ) due to my inability to choose between the above two said android phones. I like the i5700 for its zippy 800 MHz processor and that its got the 2.1 update. I like the i7500 for its 5 MP camera and flash + a larger screen to play with I would have gone in for the i7500 but have been hearing about Samsung deciding against not updating it to version 2.1 which can off course be done taking the un-official channel. Moreover the 528 Mhz processor is certainly lagging.
But still I see people in here Going after the i7500 .... Adding to it there is more threads and discussions going around on the i7500 as compared to the i5700. Am I missing something in the i7500 or is it just that i am a stupid newbie ... I have gone through many many pages of information on this thread before posting this query.
Samsung I7500 :: Can't Install Sygic Mobile Maps - No Device ID
May 12, 2010I am using Sygic Mobile Maps 10 on my N1 and now got if for my girlfriend's i7500. It installed fine but when I start it up and try to activate a map, the screen where it should show the device id is just empty (it shows a -). If I go to the About screen, it also doesn't show a device id. I contacted Sygic already but they don't know anything about the i7500 and Google doesn't really help either. My current guess is that it doesn't work with the internal memory card as the device id is apparently generated based on the sd card's serial number (Sygic used to distribute the software pre-installed on a sd card). So maybe the software can't recognise the serial number of the internal card and hence can't generate a device id...but that's just my guess. I just want to avoid wasting money to buy a microsd to install it on there if it turns out that the app is just not working with the i7500 for other reasons...

Sep 25, 2009I'm trying to flash my new Galaxy using Odin (because I got it sim-free and I don't have the market). I'm doing this on WinXP inside VMWare on Linux, unfortunately. It had only this to say: <1> Added! <1> Detected!
That is, after I filled in the filename and pressed start, the two boxes went yellow and the timer began counting but there was no other output. I killed it after about 45 mins. I've tried this with the II5 (one file) and IH7 (multiple files) firmware versions linked to from this site. Now, I guess the obvious culprit here is VMWare, but it seems odd that it would find the device and then give up (and NPS and mass storage work as well as expected). Also, even if I don't connect the Galaxy to the PC, the only way I can find to leave the 'downloading...' screen is to pull out the battery - is that normal? I did try with native WinXP on an old laptop too, but it's a 7-year-old installation and it wasn't playing ball... so I'm hoping someone here has a suggestion for how to proceed that doesn't involve a fresh Windows install?

May 25, 2010i think my gt-i7500 is bricked. i downloaded the 1.6 firmware(.tar) along with ODIN.. set up the downloading mode and used ODIN to flash it to 1.6. ODIN showed PASS in the window but the phone refuses to boot up. It remains frozen with the SAMSUNG sign. Recovery mode is not working either.

Aug 8, 2009I know Samsung Galaxy is coming out on monday or tuesday on O2 UK,so now when its so close to uk customers i want all of you help me and us decide which Android phone shoul I or WE go for?im very confused at this moment as for me its still unclear how much RAM Galaxy has and whether or not it would be slower or faster than HTC Hero? other thing is Sense UI that Hero has which looks amazing so question for developers or general programmers will it be possible to port it to Galaxy as i think the only differences are presence of Flash LED on Galaxy camera and D-Pad instead of Track ball on Hero. and one more thing how much future proof will both phones are in your opinion as im going to get 18month contract anyway so i dont want to regret in couple of weeks.
