Samsung I7500 :: FM Radio Doesn't Support?

Oct 4, 2009

Does the i7500 actually have a FM radio? I've read quite a few reviews on the net and there seems to be slight confusion by reviewers weather or not it has one. Some say yes others say no! Is it a case that the hardware is there, but android doesn't support it yet?

Samsung i7500 :: FM Radio doesn't support?

Samsung I7500 :: I5 Firmware Radio

Oct 18, 2009

Is it my imagination or does the radio in this version have lower reception than previous versions? It never was a stellar performer in this area, my G1 sitting next to my Galaxy would have much better reception (I'm talking like -80something dbm vs -110ish dbm- btw I pulled those numbers out of my a$$ cause I don't remember what exactly they were but there was that big a disparity when I looked right after I got my Galaxy). Now I'm having signal issues where I didn't before. Previously in my basement I'd get 1-2 bars of signal with edge reception (I only get 3G upstairs with my Galaxy). I installed I5 firmware yesterday and hdblog's galaxhero today after using H2 for AGES. Tonight I'm getting 0-1 bars, with very frequent full disconnects with no reception at all. ><

Samsung Galaxy I7500 : Galaxo 1.6.3 Bugs - Speaker Doesn't Work In Call - Scrolling Contacts By Letter Doesn't Work

May 2, 2010

I have so far found two bugs in Galaxo 1.6.3:

a) Speaker doesn't work in call (very weak). works well in ringtones etc.

b) Scrolling contacts by letter doesn't work.

Other than that this is a leap forward, especially with the overclock options!

Both bugs, as well as others, fixed in 1.6.3.1 update!

Samsung I7500 :: Music Tag Support

Feb 21, 2010

I got my galaxy a couple of weeks ago (cheap enough that it was worth it, despite reading everything on the forums). I'm running II5 and think I might wait and see if 1.6 is released next month before upgrading.

However, some of my music is in m4a format and the music app cannot read the tags. Is this an issue with Android or the firmware and is there another application that can fix it?

Samsung I7500 :: Radio Stack / Phone Function Stop Working With I5?

Sep 30, 2009

Had a few days of use without issues, go to make a call yesterday and it takes ages to connect, but instead of connecting I get a beep and then it returns me to my contact list. Tried putting the phone in and out of flight mode by holding down the power button and selecting the flight mode option, the option turns grey after I press it, won't allow me to press it again and seemingly does nothing. Press the off option and turn the phone back on and it's fine. Now I reckon I had suffered this with earlier firmwares.

why does this phone say it can support WMA/WMV when it does not.I see it posted as the phones specs on all websites that gives the specs for this phone. Does this have to do the fact that the crappy 1.5 OS doesnt support it? Will 2.1 support those files? It also says mp4, but I tried that and it also doesnt work??? Has anybody else have any luck with these file formats? I remember my G1 could play these so why the flip can't a newer android phone?????

Samsung EPIC 4G :: Doesn't Support Mobile Sync

Aug 31, 2010

I didn't sync my contacts to gmail on my Instinct bc I've always just used Sprint's mobile sync. Contacts were automatically saved on the network, so when you bought a new phone or whatever, they could just send the contacts to your phone. Well, guess what! Epic doesn't support mobile sync. SO PLEASE BACK UP YOUR CONTACTS THROUGH GMAIL IF YOU WERE PLANNING ON RELYING ON MOBILE SYNC! Unfortunately, I don't have a "local" Sprint store. It will take more time to drive to one than to manually enter my contacts.

Samsung Behold 2 :: Doesn't Support Direct Dial Shortcut On Desktop?

Jan 7, 2010

Doesn't this phone support the direct dial shortcut on the desktop? I am trying to add contacts on my desktop that I would like 1-touch access to but the only way to add a contact is using the shortcut to contact. Clicking on that opens up the contact details and then I have to click on the number I want to call and select call or message. Is there any way to add a particular number for a particular contact directly onto the home screen? I know that the MT3G used to have a shortcut to direct dial option. Is there anyway to get that on this phone

Samsung I7500 :: How To Proceed Odin That Doesn't Involve Fresh Windows Install?

Sep 25, 2009

I'm trying to flash my new Galaxy using Odin (because I got it sim-free and I don't have the market). I'm doing this on WinXP inside VMWare on Linux, unfortunately. It had only this to say: <1> Added! <1> Detected!
That is, after I filled in the filename and pressed start, the two boxes went yellow and the timer began counting but there was no other output. I killed it after about 45 mins. I've tried this with the II5 (one file) and IH7 (multiple files) firmware versions linked to from this site. Now, I guess the obvious culprit here is VMWare, but it seems odd that it would find the device and then give up (and NPS and mass storage work as well as expected). Also, even if I don't connect the Galaxy to the PC, the only way I can find to leave the 'downloading...' screen is to pull out the battery - is that normal? I did try with native WinXP on an old laptop too, but it's a 7-year-old installation and it wasn't playing ball... so I'm hoping someone here has a suggestion for how to proceed that doesn't involve a fresh Windows install?

HTC EVO 4G :: FM Radio Doesn't Work

Jun 30, 2010

And maybe causing some of the other problems when headphones are plugged in too. I've posted about this in other threads, but I want to draw more attention to this. Of all issues HTC is making statements on, this is one that hasn't been acknowledged at all. I think most people just attribute it to poor reception when really it's just a flaw in the jack design. It seems to be the case in every 0003 I've come across, but I'm not 100% sure on the 0002s... Maybe we can get some input here.

When fully plugged in, the connector pin for antenna is not always touching a contact on your 3.5mm plug. Supposedly some headphones work, but there may be slight variations in the headphone plugs by manufacturer that would work. I've tried several sets... AKG, Skullcandy, Panasonic, Phillips, etc. and several Evos, they all have the same problem. Try this: Turn on the FM radio without headphones. It'll ask you to plug headphones in to use as an antenna. Plug the headphones all the way in, until it snaps, and it'll start tuning... You'll then hear nothing but static OR get lousy reception that changes a lot when you move the headphone cables around, right?................

Samsung I7500 :: Samsung I7500 - Low Middle Or High-end Android Smartphone

Jan 23, 2010

The Samsung i7500 Galaxy is, except the support from Samsung itself, a great Android smartphone with a very good (the best?) price for value. It's with 11,9mm the second slimmest Android phone after Nexus One with 11,5mm (right?) and has unlike the HTC phones a flash light and build in storage of 8GB. On most sites the Galaxy is (one of) the cheapest Android phones, I wonder if it's because Samsung is cheaper or HTC/Motorola more expensive by itself?

I personally would compare the i7500 with the HTC Hero, although in my opinion the i7500 still has a much better price for value.

Is it even possible to define if and which Android phone is a low, middle, or high-end smartphone?
Sure, it also depends for what purposes you bought and use your phone, but I still wonder were the i7500 would be if 1=low and 10=high end Android phone, and if there even is a number 10? I also think that the D-Pad is a big plus and not a minus in comparison to the scroll ball from HTC.

New to android and currently working out what phone to get. I'm on WinMo at the moment and use bluetooth tethering (more correctly termed Bluetooth PAN) on a daily basis with a laptop on my commute to work. I am reading in various places that Andoid does not support BT PAN? Surely this can't be true, its been on WinMo devices for the past 5 years! I'm not interested in WiFi tethering - it consumes too much battery. Bluetooth is the best solution or this having been designed for mobile use, and its 3MBit bandwidth is plenty fast enough.
