Samsung I7500 :: Language Support / English GUI With Norwegian Keyboard Android Setup
Aug 26, 2009
If I were to purchase a Samsung I7500 in Norway, will it have a Norwegian version of Android? Or do all Android phones have an English GUI? My ideal setup would be English GUI with Norwegian keyboard.

I have a few Greek songs that I would like to play on the Galaxy, but it really annoys me that the Greek song names don't show properly. Instead I get a bunch of question marks. The strange thing is that it reads one of the tags, but none of the rest.

I just got my HTC Desire with Android 2.1, and the first problem I'm running into a lot is when using the visual keyboard. Being multilingual and having friends who only speak one particular language, there's no single 'correct' input language setting for the word prediction feature, so I started looking into how much work it might be to extend the keyboard with two rather basic, though essential, features:
1) Showing the current language selection, so that I don't have to type stuff, getting it mis-corrected, then discover the language setting must be wrong, go into the settings, select to change language, select language, etc. until I get back, erase the old text and start over. That gets old real quick.
2) Being able to simple change whatever language is used for the word prediction by just having a button on the keyboard doing that directly, i.e. a button that just cycles through the 'relevant' languages with the key label showing which is currently active. Improving it even further, one might imagine:
3) Having a per contact setting, noting the word-prediction language that should be used when communicating with that user. But searching through the docs, I'm slowly coming to the realization that the input text language setting may not even be available to be changed outside the system settings dialog, making this impossible to implement - is that correct?

Not many reactions as yet, to the update. So far I am more or less satisfied. However, I cant seem to get the Norwegian keyboard. My only options are Japan, Corea, China and standard keyboard. Thus all my writing is spell-checked also in Danish. Why? And why are apps priced in swedish currency, and not in nok (norwegian currency)? I am in Norway, not in sweden. Phone is bought in Norway, and has never been used in either Sweden or Denmark.

I am trying to build an application (which would use the Hindi language and other regional languages) to get speech voice commands.I also need text to speech functionality in my application.I was wondering if there was any way I could get a speech recognition library on Android? I did a quick Google search and found a couple of libraries for Hindi on the Internet but I am not sure if I can include them in my Android project. Can I?

I have just started with Android development and bought a handset(HTC Hero) for test and usage purposes. The sad part is that it doesn't display one of the scripts (Devanagari to be precise). Hence, I would like to contribute to the Android project to help render it. However, since I have just started I have no ideas of where to look for and begin with !
To be very precise, I would like to contribute for proper rendering of Nepali Language (Devanagari Script) for the Android OS. For ex. I would like to be able to see the following in an Android device rendered properly......................

I choose a wrong phone language by mistake, how do I change it back to english.
The language I selected by mistake, it's one I don't understand at all.
I donwnloaded & visited the support site, but I couldn't resolve my problems with the instrucctions in the manual From the Home screen, drag upwards. Find and tap Settings > Locale & text > Select locale. Select an option.
If you choose the wrong language and can't read the menu texts, go to www.sonyericsson.com/support for help.

I have a GNex. But have my phone in German. Because of this Google Search and Google Now are also in german.
And Google voice no longer talks back to me. Even though I have changed my setting(or so I think) to english. Google Now still defaults to giving me search results for google.de
Is there a way I can keep my phone in german, but have my voice search talk and answer in english?

I found this on google discussion boards: Android UTF-8 - Google Mobile Help
Just wanted to double check with pro's here to make sure that adding a font set is not possible unless one has root access. I need to add non-English font support to Browser and email client to be able to read other languages.

I got my galaxy a couple of weeks ago (cheap enough that it was worth it, despite reading everything on the forums). I'm running II5 and think I might wait and see if 1.6 is released next month before upgrading.
However, some of my music is in m4a format and the music app cannot read the tags. Is this an issue with Android or the firmware and is there another application that can fix it?

Does the i7500 actually have a FM radio? I've read quite a few reviews on the net and there seems to be slight confusion by reviewers weather or not it has one. Some say yes others say no! Is it a case that the hardware is there, but android doesn't support it yet?

I'm using a Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7105
I used to use the Samsung Keyboard with English and the Chinese language input (downloaded in it's language settings).
But after a hard rest (My phone had recently updated itself to 4.3 with no change) I no longer have Chinese as a downloadable language.
WHY is this so annoying... Becuase if I use another keyboard that has chinese I can't swap between it and the Samsung Keyboard in Keyboard. The Samsung has to be selects in the phone setting and can't be selected as one of many keyboards.
The reason why I wish to use the Samsung keyboard is becuase of its great swipe input function. I have not found another keyboard that has swipe in English and Chinese input funtionality.
Which means I can never using any combo of keyboards swap easily from chinese to swipe english keyboard.
I think It has something to do with the locale version of the 4.3 android os. I heard that different locales have different downloadable language options. But why has mine sudenly changed!
