View 1 Replies View RelatedNew to android and currently working out what phone to get. I'm on WinMo at the moment and use bluetooth tethering (more correctly termed Bluetooth PAN) on a daily basis with a laptop on my commute to work. I am reading in various places that Andoid does not support BT PAN? Surely this can't be true, its been on WinMo devices for the past 5 years! I'm not interested in WiFi tethering - it consumes too much battery. Bluetooth is the best solution or this having been designed for mobile use, and its 3MBit bandwidth is plenty fast enough.

Has anybody else have any luck with these file formats? I remember my G1 could play these so why the flip can't a newer android phone?????

Contacts were automatically saved on the network, so when you bought a new phone or whatever, they could just send the contacts to your phone. Well, guess what! Epic doesn't support mobile sync. SO PLEASE BACK UP YOUR CONTACTS THROUGH GMAIL IF YOU WERE PLANNING ON RELYING ON MOBILE SYNC! Unfortunately, I don't have a "local" Sprint store. It will take more time to drive to one than to manually enter my contacts.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe native android player doesn't support .m3u playlists. A Online Radio, DroidLive, and StreamFurious all support .m3u playlists, but they are intended for streaming radio, not playing your own playlists. Because of this there is no next song or previous song functionality, which is pretty important for me. Anyone know a program that can do this?

Does Google have a plan?
I really want a custom rom and a custom kernel for my colors xfactor
Reasons:
1) It doesn't support swapping
2)It doesn't support overclocking
3)I can't install "wifi kill" on it because its android version is 2.3.6
And many more..
There are a number of android file hosts such as goo.im, androidfilehost, and lets not forget XDA itself.
These sites are crucial for Android's success, as without them dev support would die. Yet these sites rely on user donations and frequently the site admins own pocket. I donate when I can because of the importance. But the amount they ask for is not much, it wouldn't even matter to Google, and they are the company who should be most concerned about Android.
Is it a conflict of interest thing?
How can I make it so that my application is seen on the Android Market only by devices with mdpi and hdpi densities. There is the <supports-screens> tag and there is the anyDensity parameter but I don't see how I can say what I want. If I set anyDensity to false, what does that mean? Where do I specify which densities I do support?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAs we all know the droid's d-pad is located under the screen on the slider. I just wonder has anyone ever come to a situation where an app or a game needs a d-pad, but doesn't support the landscape mode, so you have no choice but to use the phone in portrait with the slider open.
and in that case would the "up" button(in landscape mode) become the "right" button, or does it still recognize it as an UP button? Is it comfortable to hold the phone that way?
I could imagine some games that are designed for the Hero/magic would require you to use the d-pad/trackball.
When applying an alpha value to an imageview, Eclipse displays the view accurately in layout mode. But when exporting to a target device (such as a phone), the alpha appears to be ignored. This impacts developers trying to create fade ins/outs of elements in a widget. Has anyone else come across this issue yet? Not sure if this behavior is by design or by error.

Obviously BT file transfer doesn't work
I knew that voice dialling isn't support - why on earth not though?
I've just paired it with my BT car stereo, and I have also discovered that it doesn't download the phonebook to the stereo like it did from my TyTN II!
So how am I supposed to dial in the car!? I'm handsfree but to dial I can't voicedial or scroll through the phonebook, so the only option is to hope the number is in my received/missed/dialled calls, or pull over and dial it from my phone manually.
Is there any chance that this will appear in a future update?

Is there any way to add a particular number for a particular contact directly onto the home screen? I know that the MT3G used to have a shortcut to direct dial option. Is there anyway to get that on this phone

I bought an Eris on the 28th, but returned it sunday within the 30 day grace period to wait for the incredible. I know that I could do that, put my original setup back one (2.1update1) and remove root. But what about that radio baseband?

HIGHMEM support for RAM >256MB
Does that mean 256 meg of the memory currently in the HTC Incredible is unaccessible? IE we really currently only have 256meg not (512-DeviceSpace) on the Incredible or what does that mean? Is the upper side of the memory completely taken up by the device peripherals at this point? (Assuming this works as a normal kernel layout where the devices take the high address space).
I've been reading these forums for a while deciding to trade in my old dumbphone LG VX8300 on an Incredible. As a software engineer, I do lots of study before I commit. So yesterday when I get my new Incredible, I'm shocked to find out that the browser doesn't support animated GIFs! I don't care about the ones with smiley faces poking another smiley face in the eye with a stick, but most of the weather apps use animated GIFs to simulate live radar. That is one of my big uses on the old VX8300 (I do lots of motorcycle riding in the summer and want to know which way the rain is heading)The Weather Channel, AccuWeather, etc. all think they have moving radar images but none of them work. I did find RadarNow in the app store but that wasn't sufficient. I eventually found that WeatherBug Elite ($1.99) has moving radar images (they must use a different technique). I finally found a discussion over at the Android developers list of known issues Issues - android - Project Hosting on Google Code that discussed the issue. The developer has made a change for Froyo for large memory phones like the Incredible to enable animated GIFs. There is a mention of this over in the Motorola Droid forum, but with all the new folks jumping on the Incredible, I thought it might get better visibility here. So here's one thing that Droid doesn't. that the iPhone (and my ancient dumbphone, and Blackberry, and Palm, etc.) does.I just thought I'd share my experience so others can find it later.
